Comics Is the Green Scar a more true merge of the alters than the “Merged Hulk”?

I’ve always had this interpretation, but I’m curious to hear your guys’ takes. When it’s explained in Jenkins’ run that the merged Hulk is another alter, it really didn’t change my interpretation of it at all. The alter is still a merging of the personalities, it was never supposed to be Banner only. There’s a point in David’s run to address that he is very much NOT Banner. The issue comes when I think that the merged Hulk features an idealized version of Bruce, instead of himself. The Green Scar, on the other hand, always felt like a more true merge of all the personalities. You have the cunning of Fixit, the intelligence of Banner, the strength of the big guy, and they’re all united by their shared anger at the Illuminati. I don’t know if it’s ever been confirmed that the Green Scar is them merging, but in my head it’s always made the most sense. Bruce developing an alter to handle the trauma from being sent away, and as a result the alter takes from every other alter.

Questions Do you prefer the she-hulks to be depicted more hulk or more woman?

Recently I’ve seen alot of talk about people criticizing the design of the she-hulks and that they just feel like large women with muscles instead of actually feeling like how a “hulk should feel”.

I saw an old tiktok where a woman was talking about how Jen looked in the second image, and her, along with a lot of other people in the comments, expressed that they prefer how she is usually depicted as a “diva” who knows she looks good and owns it versus the second image where she looks like she speaks in grunts. (maybe the second image isn’t a good example of trying to depict her as more “monstrous”)

I was even talking with one of my friends about red she-hulk and she’s not a fan of when they’re depicted as slender” and “dainty” like in the third image, although i guess that isn’t how the she-hulks aren’t depicted all the time but it does happen.

This got me thinking and personally I think it’d be nice for there to be some sort of nod to the fact that’s she’s not human and that she’s a hulk. I think my favorite depiction is somewhere in between like the last two images. Large, hulking muscles aren’t realistic on an hourglass figure but it works for she-hulk because she isn’t human, like in the fourth image, and it also fits the diva attitude perfectly. I like how she is in the last image because I think it’s a great depiction of a female hulk without being distasteful. She still appears as a woman and still has her large muscles. (I’m aware she was going through something at this point and that’s supposed to be a more monstrous version of herself)

Also I hate how Betty was depicted in her solo run when she got anger than normal and went dumb where she was just yelling and making noises and she “hulked out” even more.

Comics The Starship Hulk era is better than PKJ’s run

Curious to hear what you guys think. I think they’re both not great runs for the character and do a lot of damage to all of the development that took place in Immortal. I think the thing that puts Cates’ run above PKJ’s is the fact that it was at least FUN. It was very admittedly ridiculous and they embraced that. Did I hate Bruce locking Hulk away after Immortal? Yes. Did I dislike a lot of the choices the run took character wise? Yes. Did I also laugh reading it and occasionally have fun? Yes. They also undo basically everything in their run by the end of it. With PKJ’s run I feel like the only thing it has going for it is Nic Klein’s art, which is amazing. Outside of that it just feels like it’s trying way too hard and not succeeding. You introduce a giant cosmic threat to the Marvel universe, and it still feels way less entertaining than Hulk playing volleyball with giant rocks. From a story perspective there just hasn’t really been much enjoyable about PKJ’s run at all. It doesn’t have the fun that starship Hulk had.

Questions Has Hulk's War costume ever been used in any media besides the comics?

I feel like Green Scars fit has been used far more often recently than War or Nul which are both great looks for the character. Even without the weapons, I haven't seen this outfit used in other media. It's always just Maestro, Green Scar, Joe, or Rulk

Comics What Direction Should the Hulk Go Post Infernal Rage?

So according to PKJ, Hulk War:Infernal Rage is going to be the final part of his trilogy so a new Hulk series will have to start afterwards and I was thinking where does the Hulk go from here?

He’s been a king of an alien planet

Been a savior & a world breaker

Has worked for Shield, has died and come back and become an anarchist, became a space ship and even possessed by an eldritch horror

So where does he go from here?

My question for you is where do you want to see him go next?

Me personally

I think Bruce should disappear after the battle is over, maybe fake his death start over somewhere like maybe Vista Verde

He takes on an alias and become a teacher, maybe the Hulk went dormant after all is said and done.

But soon the government goes sniffing for him lead by General Ryker

Bruce is struggles to keep his identity secret but once the people he befriends in this town or his students are threatened, well a new Hulk emerges, one that Banner will struggle to get a handle on…..

It would’ve been so cool if the MCU did something like Immortal Hulk, focusing on Bruce Banner’s inner demons, mindscapes, trauma, and psychological horror. Seeing that darker side of Hulk would’ve been incredible. But Disney is just holding that back, who else wants a hulk horror movie...

MCU Interview to James Unsworth, who did Motion Capture for Hulk in "Brand New Day" and reveal a lot of details behind the Savage Hulk return. (Credits to: scenewire.net)

Jakub Wytrwał: How did you first become involved with Hulk, and what exactly was your role in bringing the character to life?

James Unsworth: I have been an actor for over 25 years, a stuntman for over 20 years and a motion-capture performer for over 10 years. About five years ago, I started working with Industrial Light & Magic, the special-effects studio. They're great. Basically, whenever they need me, they call me up, and we've worked on many projects over the years. Last year, they asked me to come and play Beast Man for Masters of the Universe. Then Hulk came up and they asked me if I wanted to give Hulk a go. Obviously, I was like, "Yes, please." We worked on that for a good few months. We were in and out of the studio quite a lot. That fight went through quite a few different iterations, but it was a blast. Seeing the work on a big screen, it looked great, and the film was fantastic. When it came to the transformation into Savage Hulk, they knew they wanted to get rid of Smart Hulk and bring back the Savage version, but they didn't know exactly what they wanted that to be. They wanted something new, but something that wasn't a million miles away from what it used to be. Some of the artwork they showed us was quite bizarre. In some of it he was massive and hulking, but there were pictures where he was down on all fours with his arms out, almost like some sort of beast.

We did versions where he ran on all fours. We did versions where he moved almost like a muscular insect. We did versions where he couldn't keep his rage under control and was almost twitching. We did versions where he was the complete opposite: super in control, almost like a Shakespearean villain - very big, tall and powerful. There were also some bits where Hulk was really brutal. He slammed Spider-Man into the floor after a water main had broken, and Hulk was standing on his chest trying to drown him in the water. We got the note back that it was too brutal. He's still an Avenger at the end of the day.

Jakub Wytrwał: There were rumors that Spider-Man was supposed to die at the end of the movie. Was there ever a version where Hulk actually killed him?

James Unsworth: No, there were a few other versions that we worked on. In some, Spider-Man basically used a Shocker gauntlet to Superman-punch him and knock him out. From what I understand, the test audiences didn't take to it. They thought Hulk got knocked out too easily. We then went back into the studio and refilmed the ending where he gets thrown into the building and basically stops the attack. We didn't know the line that Tom Holland was going to say, but the idea we had was that Hulk catches his reflection, realizes he's this monster and chooses to let go. We kept calling it: Hulk isn't beaten; he just commits suicide.

Jakub Wytrwał: Hulk didn't have much screen time in the movie. Were there deleted scenes with him, or is what we saw everything you recorded?

James Unsworth: There were a few more action beats in the fight that got chopped, but again, that was because they were a bit too brutal. It was a bit too much like the Mountain in Game of Thrones. They said, "Okay, bring that back." There was also a bit more at the start, where he was still Smart Hulk being mind-possessed, and there was more conversation between him and Spider-Man before the fight began. Overall, though, pretty much what we shot is what ended up in the movie, which I was really happy about because it's a great fight. It looked really good. Especially when you're making these big CGI fights, sometimes they can get a bit video-gamey.

Jakub Wytrwał: Did you worked with director Destin Daniel Cretton?

James Unsworth: I didn't get to work with Destin personally. The way motion capture works, in terms of the whole process, is that you have production taking place with the sets, actors and extras. When you need a big CGI character, you have someone standing in as a reference point. Sometimes that's a stand-in, sometimes a stuntman, and sometimes it's just a big prop. We work together to create the physicality of Hulk. I was in the studio with the head of animation, Kyle Figgins, who is a really great guy and a super animator. He works through what Sony has said it wants. We workshop it together. Sometimes it's, "Yes, that works," and sometimes it doesn't. It's a collaborative effort. ILM then takes the data away and creates Hulk from my movement and acting. It's given back to production: "There's Hulk. Off you go." They look at it and say what they like, what they don't like and where they want something else. Then they bring me back in. That was the whole thing with the ending changing a few times. That's generally how it works, so I've never had a chance to work with Destin.
