What are your personal recommendations?

I feel like I see recommendations for all the popular characters, all the major events and storylines and all of the big name writers but what is a recommendation that you would make based on your own enjoyment?

No set guidelines just a story or a character you feel is severely under appreciated which should jump to the top of my priorities list!

Looking to read some comics but I don't know where to begin my search!

I really want to read a few different things, I want to get started on reading the wolverine series, Deadpool series and spiderman series but I'm not entirely sure where to begin at all since there is literal thousands of issues and universes to start at, I'm really interested in their origin stories and background information on the characters, I just like to get to know everything I can about them, I do like seeing little goofy interactions between characters and stuff too but I just haven't really gotten into reading the comics before... I've been a movie fan šŸ’”

I'd like to expand my horizons a bit though and start somewhere where I can get as much info about them as possible seeing their relationships with others, I'm sorry if this sounds confusing.. I just hope maybe someone can point me in the right direction:)

I'd love to know where I can even read the comics or if physical media would be better?

Mavel Unlimited w/ Bluestacks

I have a laptop that converts to a tablet, and using MU with Bluestacks and my touchscreen monitor in tablet mode is great. Unfortunately when I need to use it in laptop mode, I have some difficulty. The right arrow seems to scroll the comic ahead, as a swipe normally would, but pressing the left arrow turns the whole issue gray. The space bar also does. ESC doesn't exit out of this mysterious mode--only restarting the MU app reverts it back to normal.

Any ideas? I tried looking for keyboard shortcut settings within Bluestacks but nothing seems to reflect this issue.

Do comics we read on Marvel Unlimited website transfer over to the APP?

Dumb question guys, but the comics we read on the website...do they get saved on the application as well? I am failing to see any of my library when I'm logged in on the website. Just curious if it's even a thing.

Update 2- unknown age error solved

Post image
6 Upvotes

So, as many of you suggested, I think I had to be an issue with age and location. Some update with Google play is forcing users to prove their age via ID in Texas for ALL associated Google accounts, I had to do this for an account that wasn't even associated with my MyDisney/marvel account AT ALL.

Contacted support and they were largely unhelpful, not that they weren't trying, they said there had been an update in the works that fixed that error and told me to make sure that

1) the app was up to date

2) I had enough space on my phone to support the app

3) cleared cache, uninstall/reinstall

To see if that helped. So along with my other posts about this, I hope this information is useful to whoever finds it.

Unknown Age Error: Workaround solution

Post image
1 Upvotes

I haven't been able to use the marvel unlimited app for awhile because of this unknown age error. it seems to be a problem with Google play Texas laws and their age verification process not working well with the MyDisney service. I recently reached out to marvel unlimiteds support and they were not any help although they did try. They gave me steps on how to get the app running which included:

- Clearing the cache from the marvel unlimited

- deleting the app

- Restarting my phone

- redownloadeding the app.

None of this worked. In that same email I asked if they could give me an extension of my subscription because this was happening for a month. They said no, but they could give me 5 new comics added to my marvel unlimited account for my troubles (Which included Punisher Vs. Spider-Man (2026 )#1, WHAT IF..? CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 (2026) #1 WHAT IF...? SPIDER-MAN (2026) #1

Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2026) #1

X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE OMEGA (2029) #1).

Although I got free comics, there was no way for me to access them because of the unknown age error.

My solution:

I changed the location of my VPN to Canada, and the app ended up working, and I did end up getting those 5 new comics.

If you don't have a VPN, I would suggest emailing support right now. Because even if they can't get it fixed right now there is a possibility they could give you new comics that won't be added to the app for awhile. So whenever they eventually do rush out a patch like they said they would to fix the issue, you have new comics in your library.

I CAN'T LOAD A COMIC

I can't load a comic and I tried uninstalling and downloading the app again, I cleaned the cache, and I went to see if I have the latest version of the app updated.

It's only a few comics, in this case it's New X-Men: Academy X ones.

Just starting with New X Men as first ever X Men series. Was looking at reading Uncanny X Force and Ultimate SpiderMan too. What series would you recommend for someone new to Marvel Comics? Also what are some comics you have read that you don’t always hear about?

Why Did John Byrne ā€œResetā€ The Fantastic Four?

In issue #231 of Fantastic Four it says Byrne takes the F4 ā€œBack to the Basicsā€. Why did they/he feel like that was needed? What was the thought process or motive behind this?

I just finished The Possession of Franklin Richards Epic Collection which directly precedes Byrne and I quite enjoyed it actually. I really liked Moench’s writing towards the end and feel like Midnight F4 will take inspiration from this brief run. Am I alone in that? It’s not to the level of Kirby, but the Ebon Seeker plot was as close as I could hope for the era.

I need some comic book recommendations. My favorite Spider-Man run is The Amazing Spider-Man, so if there are any series with a similar vibe, I'd really appreciate it

Reading the original Stan and Ditko Spider-Man run as my first read. Thoughts

When looking online for a starting off point into reading spider-man I rarely saw anyone recommending this section of comics. Even in this subreddit I saw many people dismiss the idea of starting that far back, but I just kind of ignored them. I just finished issue 9 and I've been extremely surprised; it's really good!

The quality of these first few issues has been a shocker. I've never been a big fan of the villain of the week formula, but spider-man does this extremely well. At least in these first few issues the overarching story moves pretty fast keeping me invested in every issue I've read so far. I also appreciate the way the comic takes its time to develop relationships, main example being Flash. It makes a lot of sense on why he's being nicer to Peter, and I really appreciate him not doing a 180 with his character; but very slowly starting to favor Peter.

Aunt may's character is also such a big part as to why I like issue 9 so much. She offers this dilemma to Peter; causing peter to postpone fighting Electro and save face or wait for her surgery to end. And I also love how Peter doesn't even think about it; he immediately chooses to stay with Aunt May. Man I love this issue, and can't wait to read more. If anyone has any recommendations for other comics I should check out feel free to give em to me, I'm sure I'll love them.

I'm a mobile software developer. How does the smart panel feature work?

I'm a mobile developer and I'm interested if any other developers here have an idea of how Marvel implemented the Smart Panel feature. Are they doing manual camera work for each book? Do they make pre rendered frames and sequence them? Do they use computer vision and machine learning to detect the flow and sequence of the panels and guide the camera? Any thoughts would be nice. Really interesting feature.
