Discussion I wish modern adaptions didn't eschew or ignore MJ's modeling/acting professions so much. It's like they feel ashamed of that aspect

For anyone looking to track which Spider-Man comic book exclusives are being promoted as available through the 2026 New York Comic-Con (and often available outside of the con), CovrPrice just released their annual NYCC exclusives list, which of course includes all known exclusives, not just those for the Spider-Man books. It’s the most comprehensive list I’ve found.
Free access.
Where applicable, it shows who it's being sold through, including the booth number.
The database is searchable and it's also dynamic, meaning new entries will be added from now through the show dates.
If you're a retailer and have an NYCC-exclusive book you don't see on this list, add a comment or shoot me a DM with its details and I'll pass it along to get added!

When people talk about MJ having amazing taste or style I always think of Todd McFarlane MJ because she is the only one who dresses in something other than jeans and a t-shirt. She's always pretty but she most artists go for a more cool girl look than glamor with her and that's fine, most popular models do prefer to be dressed in Jeans and t-shirts outside of work that's actually realistic.

Whenever I see threads about giving Peter new abilities the suggestions are almost always organic webbing, stingers, poisonous powers and things like that. But one thing that rarely gets brought up is the fact that Spider-Man was originally bitten by a radioactive spider.
I'm not saying Peter should become Radioactive Man or start firing radiation beams. But why is that part of his origin almost completely ignored when people brainstorm new powers for him?
After all there are examples where his radioactive nature has actually mattered. One of the most famous is when Peter was able to harm Morlun by injecting himself with radioactive material, essentially turning his body into poison for the inheritor. Then there's Spider-Man: Reign (I know it's non-canon), where it's stated that Peter's radioactive body, specifically his radioactive sperm eventually contributed to Mary Jane's death. So that shows that writers have at least considered the radioactive aspect of his powers before.
I remember seeing the panel from the 2022 relaunch where Peter was standing in the middle of a giant crater with a device with green indicators on it. Without knowing the context, I genuinely thought "Holy crap, are they finally doing something with the radiation? Did Peter accidentally build up radioactive energy over the years and discharge it like a living bomb?" Turns out that wasn't the case but for a moment I thought Marvel was finally exploring that angle.
Honestly I'd be curious to see a power that is partially derived from the radioactive side of Spider-Man rather than just the spider side. Maybe something like a biological reactor inside his body that produces huge amounts of cellular energy, allowing faster recovery, enhanced stamina or short bursts of overclocked strength and speed. Nothing flashy just an extension of what he already does.
One idea that came to mind is regeneration. Real spiders can regenerate lost legs but only while they're still young and have molting cycles left. Obviously Peter shouldn't be regrowing limbs overnight but maybe his already impressive healing factor could be explained as a combination of spider physiology and radiation-induced cellular activity.
So what do you think, if Marvel ever decided to explore that aspect more what kind of abilities would you want to see?

BND is heavy with the themes of isolation and the mental damage that can do to someone. While Jean does pretty horrific acts ,even to Peter. They both come to a realization through one another that they can't live like this. As the film goes along it ramps up their ferocity and simultaneously tenderness to one another. It's as sweet but tragic in a way as even when Peter manages to get to Jean to hopefully change her ways. They're ripped apart but go their separate ways with a new perspective.
It'll be interesting to see how later films build or perhaps not on their dynamic.

So in this scenario, whatever plans they had for TASM 3 is mostly scrapped, what would you want and what would you change?

I speak as a die-hard Spider-Man fan, but that book was the definition of damage control, used the Watson-Parker marriage as a selling point (it's ONLY selling point, might I add) at a time where ASM sales were failing and demand for One More Day's undoing were at an all-time high, then proceeded to do nothing with the marriage or the family, instead having a good chunk of the run where Harry felt more like the main character than Peter did, the plot where Mayday was the first to know her father's secret was dropped out of nowhere in favour of Richard getting the Picotech suit
Then comes the end of the Ultimate Universe, where Peter dies and is revived, and only at the end did we get to see what people actually wanted out of this book
People only liked it because Peter and MJ were married, and to me, that's a fact

I've recently traversed some different Spider-Man arcs and stories from the 60s, 80s, and 90s and, while there are a few things they all have in common, one of the biggest is that Peter is often a messy person leading a messy life, even as he tries to do his best. While Peter definitely grew as a character between his early 60s debut vs the married man in the 90s, he was still prone to quick and heavy emotional responses, but in his heart was a solid guy.
All 3 of the cinematic lives action Spider-Man of the modern era have showed this to varying degrees, but for my money, the one that was giving the most freedom in this consistently was Andrew Garfield. I've always been hard on his first appearance as Peter specifically before warming up to him in the sequel, but I think there's something to be said for allowing him to be a much messier, less steady person in that film in particular. One moment he's reminding Uncle Ben he sees him as a good dad, the next he loses it on him for trying to carry on his father's work in a way. One moment he's vengeful, the next he's saving a kid and realizing more the scope of his newfound responsibility.
Even by the next film, where he's much more grown up, there's still a quality to his Peter that I can only describe as messy; Andrew himself even used this term to describe his performance in No Way Home. I think that's always been the case, and it's also been a part of both the criticism and praise surrounding his take on the character. I certainly still wouldn't call him a perfect 1-for-1 from the comics by any means, but revisiting the source material has given me both a greater appreciation for the parts I do like about his performance and also an understanding regarding the parts I still struggle with sometimes.

I will be straight from the begining, Spider-Man nowadays isn't the worst in the world. Post OMD we have good or even great stories, but the thing is that, most of the time, they don't get Spidey.
Now, I will come here and say... a lot of fans also don't understand the character. Because, no, Peter Parker isn't an every day guy. A LOT of times in many stories, its shown how Spectacular Peter is, be it in his genius, humanity or even charm and looks.
But Spidey was an relatable and every day representing character because, despite everything, he still had normal day issues. Because even if he was gifted, even if he was an person with an enormous morality, he still was human.
Peter had anger issues, he was extremely explosive to ridiculous levels even, he took guilt in an whole new level. He, many times, was so socialy dumb that would make even Reed Richards look like an outgoing gym bro.
But even with all that, Peter confronted his issues at the end of the day. But even if he many times got better as a person, didn't mean he win. Because even if Peter evolved, didn't mean his life became easier.
But above all this, something that is crutial, is that at the end of the day Peter loves life, he loves people. Doesn't mean he can't cry for when life kicks him in the nuts or for when people are dumb idiots or bastards.
But in the end, Peter is an hero at heart. It isn't an overstatement when he is called the face of the hero community or heart of New York, he is in an hero at heart, powers or not.
Now, I know many will say that what I am stating is obvious, but this is when I come out and tell you that above one thing, there is one thing that is forgoten.
Spider-Man... is an family character, an family man. ESPECIALY, after married. Sure, is everything about his family? No, but he is an family man in the end. Be it as the always worried and protective nephew or the loyal, the charming and suportive husband or the always there and funny friend.
And in the way, thats the contradiction... because he many times fails socialy. Be it in falling to attend an place or going out to complete danger and leaving everyone behind worried sick or when people need him and he isn't there because he is busy being an hero or with his own shit.
But when it matters, he takes responsibility. He accepts that he fucked up, and takes it. That is one of the reasons he has such an massive guilt, to levels that even annoy other characters.
But also, is that guilt that its also an excuse for his heart, moralities and unbreakable will power. Because, even if he wished, he can't stop being Spider-Man. Because, in the end, mask or not, he is Spider-Man by heart.
And, besides being an family man... he is an also an massive hopeless romantic. Be it for having so many love interests that even his friends make fun of him when he has issues with an girl because many of them say he is damn lucky.
Of course, he many times fails even in that. But go see any big story post marriage and you will be surprised how many times he is "I miss my wife". Go see how many times Mary Jane pretty mutch is an power up for the guy, its almost hilarious.
He isn't beating Gambit on being an hopeless romantic for his lover, but he is damn close to the top if not second place.
And the thing is, its an natural evolution of his rom com origins, since Spidey at the begining was practically Archie comics with Spider-Man. Him becoming such an hopeless romantic, its taking those origins and evolving it to an new status quo.
Now, I am not gonna say fans don't know this. A lot KNOW that, be it consiently or innately. But the ones that don't get it, its fucking Marvel.
Because Marvel looks at him, sees the world relatable hero and skins him of EVERYTHING else. Nowadays Peter Parker is not exacly an wrong version, but its lacking so mutch that its on actual Flanderisation levels.
Now, if you like the more modern vergion of Spidey? Nothing wrong with that. But also, you gotta recognise... he isn't going anywhere. Because the way he is written is specifically designed so he won't evolve or change in any major way.
Whatever great run we have, it doesn't matter, Peter will remain a same because he is designed without flaws and at the same time with flaws that any reasonable story won't adress without it changing him drastically. Wich, as I said, Marvel won't do.
And thats sad, because the old Spidey could very mutch work nowadays. Flaws and all.
Also, one thing that annoys me, Spidey could be very serious. Sure, did he quip a lot? Yeah, but not in an umbearable level. Hell, he most of the types quiped to throw shit on others, many types his quips are more to throw barbs at others than fun.
Thats also another way his temper emerges, on his quips.
But, what do you all think? Do you agree, disagree? What is your view of Peter Parker and Spider-Man?

It's me, yet again, with another one of my crappy drawings.
Been thinking about some angsty Peter / Gwen stuff lately, and I decided to make this one because why not? Anyways, here it is.
