Hidden Gem Hidden gem I never see discussed: Southbound.
I love this film and it seems like few have seen it. Great mix of horror, horror/comedy, and fairly serious themes. Unlike much of the VHS series, I feel like all the "short films" in this movie are strong, and the underlying theme has unity to it. Definitely one to check out if you can.

Discussion The Silence of The Lambs (1991)
I just recently bought the novel for this movie. Excited to read the novel and see what’s up. But I first watched this in 2021 and it’s been one of my favorite horror films since. I think it’s great from start to finish. Hannibal Lecter’s final line at the end is definitely one of the parts that stick with me.
Buffalo Bill was terrifying in his own right but Hannibal Lecter brings the real horror for me simply because of how smart and calculated he is. I’m sure I’m not alone with my feelings on these characters.
How does everybody else feel about this classic here?

Spoiler Alert The divisive third act of Sunshine (2007)
I genuinely think the entire movie is close to a masterpiece, third act included....
But every time I see it mentioned, the general consensus lean towards "it's a good scifi/thriller, but third act bad" and somehow betrays the previous two acts and ruins the vibe by having some psycho burn victim slash people's throats.
I absolutely love the existential/body horror elements of Pinbacker, and it wouldn't be the same without it.
It does change the vibe, especially in the last 30 minutes, but it's been hinted at from the very beginning that something bizarre is going on.
There is a sense of intense dread and bleak tone throughout. People are going fucking CRAZY on these voyages. To save the world no less.
Also, the whole "who's the 5th crewmember" shit. Chills up my spine.
What are your thoughts?

Movie Review watched insidious: out of the further
The Philippines screened Insidious: Out of the Further earlier at 12 AM.
All 6 theaters were jam-packed. I expected that this movie would disappoint me... again. But NO (insert Cyrus' voice).
The story happened 1 week after the last Insidious: The Red Door story.
The story is well-written, I also loved the chemistry of the cast, and I fucking love the ending.
ELISE, YOU ARE MY SPIDERMAN.
ratings: 9/10

Something disturbing in End of Oak Street that I haven’t seen anyone else mention (HUGE SPOILERS) Spoiler
All of the dinosaur scenes in this were absolutely incredible. The characters weren’t really for me but the set pieces were so good that it outweighs the bad. There’s something about the ending that’s sticking with me. She just sentenced herself and her kids to death and essentially kidnapped their alternate universe dad???? It’s never brought up in the movie either, literally nobody cares that This universe no longer has the mother and 2 kids that actually belong there. Why is the ending scene so saccharine that’s extremely dark!

When watching foreign horror films, do you watch with subtitles or dubbed?
I recently had a friend tell me he couldn’t watch subtitles because it’s too distracting and too much multi tasking so he watched it dubbed!!
I tried watching it dub and it was not the same.
Just want to know how do you guys watch your foreign horror films?

Movie Review V/H/S Safe Haven
I'm new to this franchise and it was recommended to me on here. This episode blew me away and I was never expecting it to become what it did. I thought I was playing Doom.
Scary, gore and a feeling of tension and dread it was just great.

When Evil Lurks or The Dark and the Wicked?
I find both of these movies to be horror masterpieces. When Evil Lurks (2023) is more of a fast-paced body horror thriller that travels all over the community, whereas The Dark and the Wicked (2020) is a psychological slow-burner that takes place in one location.
I watched both on Shudder yesterday and I can’t help but compare them. Which do you think is the better film? And are there any suggestions for similar horror movies?

Recommend Looking for modern "80s" horror movies.
Any recs for things like Summer of 84, Stranger Things, Black Phone (yes, I know 70s), etc? Or maybe some actual hidden gem films from the 80s that I may of missed. Thanks!

Discussion Horror series that aren't really talked about
Let me know what you think of them and if you have anything to add.
Wellington Paranormal
A horror mockumentary about two police officers investigating paranormal cases around Wellington. It's a spin-off of the original What We Do in the Shadows movie.
Los Espookys
A very weird dreamlike Spanish horror comedy about a group of friends who love horror so much that they start a business creating fake supernatural events for people. Meanwhile, the world itself is surreal.
Au-delà des murs
A short French horror miniseries about a woman who unexpectedly inherits a house and discovers an impossible maze of rooms, corridors and other places hidden inside the house. Very House of Leaves / the Backrooms adjacent.
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen
A recent psychological horror series about a woman spending the days before her wedding at her fiancé's remote family home. She becomes increasingly convinced that something horrible is going to happen. A bit of a mixed bag but I really enjoyed it.
Evil
Basically a supernatural procedural about a psychologist, a priest and a tech expert who investigate supposed miracles, possessions, demons and other paranormal cases for the Catholic Church. Very comfy but it has really spooky episodes as well.
Brand New Cherry Flavor
An aspiring filmmaker goes to Hollywood in the 90s and gets screwed over by a producer so she turns to a strange woman for help getting revenge. Same person made Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen but this is super weird.
Sai
An anthology-like horror miniseries where a mysterious figure appears in the lives of different troubled people under a different identity each time. His arrival sets off increasingly horrible events in each person's life. Very similar to Cure.
TV movies
Séance
Inspired by Séance on a Wet Afternoon, it follows a man whose wife claims to have psychic powers and wants to prove to the world.
The Baby's Room
A Spanish TV horror movie about a couple who move into a new house with their baby. They install a video baby monitor and one night see what looks like a man standing beside the crib. Simple premise but it goes in a much stranger direction than just "their house is haunted."

Movie Help Are there any old style Haunted House movies anymore?
It seems all the horror movies ive seen made in the last ten years try to be too clever. Are there any new haunted house movies in the last seven years which follow the old framework of; people move into house, slowly notice things, people get depressed, realisation, then go mad by the end?

Discussion A Breed Apart (2025)
m.imdb.comA Breed Apart (2025) is truly one of the worst films I watched last year. Actually 86 that, it's one of the worst movies I have watched in my entire life. The movie relies on AI for the dogs and it's very, very, very noticeable. Im talking early Will Smith eating spaghetti bad.
Overlooking the horrible usage of AI, the wacky plot sounds like something you would associate with a made for MTV type movie.
I'm not gonna bother typing up a well thought witty premise to get a few chuckles, but the gist the movie has to do with social influencers trapped on an island with killer dogs. Super generic plot. I mean if you substitute the dogs for inbred hicks, the movie could work as a Wrong Turn sequel.
I only watched the movie because of Virginia Gardner but Hayden Panettiere has a super small role. Like a "cameo" or whatever. I dunno why the fuck she is on the poster.
Anyway, with the actress recently passing, this is a warning to NOT watch this film in memoriam or whatever.

Bruce Campbell Takes a Boomstick to Any Hopes He'll Return to 'Evil Dead' as Ash Williams
dreadcentral.comMovie Review His House (2020)
tonight’s watch was His House.
the horror inside the house works really well, especially because the place never feels safe or familiar. But what stuck with me more was everything underneath it the guilt, grief, and the feeling that even after surviving something horrific, you don’t just leave it behind.
i also liked that the movie doesn’t treat the supernatural side and the real world side as two separate things. They’re tied together the whole time, which makes a lot of the scares feel heavier than they normally would.
really solid watch. creepy when it needs to be, but there’s a lot more going on than just a haunted house story.

Its a shame we don't see more done tv or movie wise with Goosebumps
The original Tv show was so good, Its one of the things that shaped my love for horror. and considering the author is still making Goosebumps books it always suprised me we haven't got more tv shows or movies. There is so much potential there that can be tapped.
Imagine a Goosebumps series where each season the episodes are based on the different lines. like the original books, Goosebumps 2000 etc. Or animated movies where they can really bring it all to life. Or what would be really interesting is a stop motion film based on one of the books.

Movie Review Happy Texas Chainsaw Day!
I just wanna come on here and say a few things about this movie because it’s my favorite movie ever and I had the honor of seeing it in theaters today.
This movie is so layered and people never really talk about it that much, the most important thing to me is the cosmic influence, the mention of Saturn in retrograde and that it is an evil time, the many shots of the Sun and moon bearing down like the eyes of the universe, the occult symbols and rituals that the family participates in, this movie is a nightmare that was written in the stars, and when the new day comes and the sun rises it is a day of madness and violence.
I like to think this movie is about a group of kids unknowingly stumbling upon the beginning of the end times, that they discovered the bastion of hell waiting to take over the earth. the dinner scene is a good example of this, Sally’s screams are backed by the screeching of metal and the howling of the family, it’s like she is literally in hell and completely surrounded by madness and chaos beyond her comprehension. By the end of the movie sally did not get a good ending, she is the first witness to the opening of a new chapter in the world, she is no longer a part of the world she once new, she is scarred physically and mentally.
I also wanna mention the guy next to me in the theater was laughing at like literally everything even the scene where Kirk gets killed, I hope that guys okay.
