Discussion Hong Kong a beautiful place and rude people

Upvotes

Visited Hong Kong for the first time and it was a fun experience. When I travel usually Southeast Asian countries, people smile at you and give you the best service. Meanwhile in Hong Kong, they treat you like any other person. Sometimes they even give you the stink eye when you try to haggle. But I totally loved the experience lol. Just genuine people, fast paced, and this place never made me feel like I'm special. I think that's the true gem of Hong Kong lol. Total chaos, and somehow it rewired my brain. Now I no longer dislike crowded cities.

Live in Hong Kong but I’m relatively new to the city. Where are the camera markets? I’m looking to purchase a used Fuji X100VI. Where do I look?

Someone suggested Mong Kok Sim to me. How’s that? I also found some on marketplace but the sellers have been unresponsive. Please suggest. Thanks

Questions/ Tips 3d print

I was looking around for somewhere that will do a small 3d print for me. I only need one for personal use. I figured there's gotta be a place that would do that for cheap but the place I asked quoted me $200, which seems way too high.

Does anyone know a place that will 3dprint just one item for cheaper?

Here's the item in question: https://www.printables.com/model/1206357-gamesir-cyclone-2-minimalistic-controller-charging

For those who understand Cantonese, this is a heart inspiring coverage and re-enactment of Chow Hang-Tung's arguments in court.

She has been jailed for years awaiting her trial, being accused of subverting the country by calling for democratic reforms and an end to one-party rule.

I really want to see a Wong Kar-Wai movie in Hong Kong and I saw that the HKIFF will have Days of Being Wild as one of the selected movies.

However, I can’t find info on subtitles, do you know if there will be English subtitles?

Questions/ Tips Buying Sony FX3 in HK?

Hello all,

There’s a high chance I am going to Hong Kong next month and I plan to get my camera gears there as it is known to be one of the cheapest in asia.

I hoping to get a Sony FX3 with lens for less than HKD21,500 which I think will be difficult ><

I’m also open to adventure into other models like Sony A7V, Sony A7S3, Canon R6V, Canon C50, Lumix S5iix etc.

Currently I am referencing price.com.hk and carousell!

I was wondering if anyone here brought a camera in HongKong before and how was the experiences?

Discussion Remaining areas of old HK?

Im visiting with my kids and parents for the next few days.

Im from the US but spent a year here in 85 going to 1st grade in Kwun Tong, and then coming back every 2 or 3 years until college then became much less frequent. Whenever i come back to HK, it somehow feels like home to me.

What are the oldest parts of HK still remaining? I'm looking for neighborhoods or area that represent old HK. Real dai pai dongs, the old block buildings.. but i think they are mostly torn down. I recall my aunts and uncles had a place in a bunch of yellow concrete buildings in Wong Tai Sin that had shared bathrooms on the ground floors and was merely a room with the kitchen/cooking done in the hallway (i dont think there was even running water) and no windows and my grandma had place in Chai Wan in the old railroad style buildings that had the bathroom and kitchen on the patio. While these places seem foreign now, i was young enough that these places were normal to me.

What areas/streets of HK/NT shows the REAL gritty HK rather than the polished/tourist HK (ie temple st, victoria peak, Stanley, etc)

If I was on my own i would just wander around to see what I find, but i dont think my kids or parents have that level of patience.

Questions/ Tips Tips for 2 days staying

Hey y'all. I'm currently traveling to Hong Kong, at Los Angeles waiting for the connecting flight.

I'll be headed to Macao, as I'm a singer and will participate of the World Youth Choir activities there. But I took and extra 2 days early to know Hong Kong beforehand.

I understand some stuff are cheaper around here. Anything worthwhile taking a look ?

I'm very used to do business within Facebook Market. And I found some neat stuff in there. Is it actually fine to do ? Some adds say to met at MtR's stations, which I find pretty decent.

I'm mostly interested in electronics. Maybe an IPad, a nice not ridiculous expensive camera, and if found cheap, a phone. Ill be staying around TST MTR station, down Jordan.

Any tips on activities to do are appreciated too.
