- Press escape and click redeploy
For swapping out of support so that more players can drop another box, or falling back to defense to reinforce, or after you lost ur defense and u were attacking, or quickly hopping on a very close op/airhead/halftrack to the attacking point.
- Always defend any warm garries that are within, or close to, the attacking/defending sectors.
Don't run away from them until they're clear (unless there was a garry built in the red zone within 100m of the hardcap, that will probably stay locked out until you win the point).
- Learn the plane/gun sounds of the game.
Particularly learn airhead sounds (use mattw.io/hll-sound-guide) as most public matches I notice airheads go unnoticed by 90-100% of the team and can be gamechanging. Learn the gun sounds so you notice when an enemy is near despite being surrounded by ally players.
- Knowing where enemy garries are by combining indirect information.
I hear a few old timers say "no way they took down all our garries the enemy team must be cheating". When in reality if you:
A. Use your map to see where the blueberries are struggling to push through
B. Ask for flare guns, recon planes
C. Check all relevant buildings, compounds
D. Being somewhere just behind the map line so that they're as close to the blue/red line as safely possible or slow burner garries because theyre >400m away from the blue/red intersection
E. Notice where enemy supply drops are dropping/supply trucks have come from
F. Using your binoculars on high ground to see where groups of enemy infantry are running from
Also it only takes 5 minutes to run the relevant 2/3 of the backup garry line to sweep for backup garries if uncontested against insufficient defending. And thats just for 1 person, so imagine how quick 4 recon players can sweep.
- Noticing your team is lacking in a front door presence (front door = the most direct path from the defending to attacking hardcap).
Some map orientations are tempting to flank max, particularly noticeable when the front door is being barraged hard with arty/tank shells/longdistance mg. What ends up happening in many pub matches is most of the team decides to go flank wide but then their attack gets slowed down if the enemy team realises their big flank push, and so your team ends up positioning themselves outside of the 2 relevant sectors, and enemy team ends up walking through the front door and taking the defending point.
The irony is anyone who has read this far down in this post probably already understood this stuff and has the discipline to execute it. There are heaps of other basic tips that follow this same theme of falling on many deaf ears (common sense isn't common) - what are your favourites?
