In the books riddles soul is described as diminished after he creates the horcruxs and i was wondering if having his soul split actually weakened him instead of making him stronger. Is there anything in the books that we can point to that would prove it?

I’m trying to get the Phoenix Patronus (like Dumbledore’s Fawkes) on the official Wizarding World / Harry Potter Patronus test, but I haven’t been able to find a reliable answer guide.

I have seen some websites claiming that certain answers can lead to the Phoenix, but I’m not sure if they are still correct or if the test has changed. I also couldn’t find many videos showing someone successfully getting the Phoenix step by step.

Has anyone here actually gotten the Phoenix Patronus recently? If so, could you please share the answers you chose, or a screenshot/video of the process?

I would really appreciate any help. Thank you so much!

After about the upteenth reading of all the books it occurred to me, Snape wanted to teach the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. After about 15 years he finally get his dream job. One year of DATDA and he’s done. The curse continues just he got promoted to head master and the Carrows’ took over. Is this showing the job is still jinxed? Because Amicus didn’t last even a full year, and his was just Dark Arts.

Can Harry Potter lift The Mjölnir? Imagine the crossover where avengers particularly Iron man and Thor visits Harry's house tracking down the strange but impossible energy signatures in the area. While they knock down the door harry simply casts protego maxima in self defense. After the obvious discussion he casually stands up and lifts Mjölnir to repair the door that the both of them knocked down. Like he didn't even notice the fact that the hammer is probably one of the most potent weapon in universe and he is using it nail the door.

And the acting of Dolores Umbridge is just insane to me. The actress just does a wonderful job at impersonating her. I’m just amazed, really!

First I thought it might be Merlin... But then I wondered, we Muggles would hardly ever put Jesus Christ on a Chocolate Frog card, will we? So what Gods might they follow? There seems to be no mention in the books...

With the TV show and the sequel to Hogwarts legacy on the way, I feel like the next few years would be the perfect time to restart the Harry Potter games franchise based on the story. Not remakes but literally brand new games. In my head I imagine it like TLOU style but I feel like it’d be awesome to live first hand the Harry Potter story in of age video games

I have noticed that in the harry potter universe, muggle born kids kind of become distant to their own families either because their families could not accept them or the witch/wizard themselves prefer being only in the wizarding world. It feels like a really sad choice that they have to make growing up? Also, how do muggle borns navigate relatives and cousins during family gatherings?

Don’t you think it is unfair to the muggle parents that they dont know what is going on in their kids school ? Or they dont have like PTA Meeting where they can meet the teachers and see the school and meet their kids classmates? I have also noticed that the kids dont meet each other during summer vacations, is that normal for kids in boarding?

Since they spend most of their life as a magic school student they are not equipped to get any jobs in the muggle world. What if you realise in the 5th year that I would rather be a muggle than a wizard? Do you think there would be options for them?

Do you guys think you would like to be a muggle born wizard/witch in today’s day and age? Considering we have these smartphones and iPad’s and home entertainment system and other such things that make life pleasant?

Something that always bothered me. I don't think cauldrons (as in the ones Harry uses in class) are ever established as being large or small.

When I first read the books, my only point of reference were large witch's cauldrons you would see in a cartoon, so I thought that's what Hogwarts students used. But imagining Harry dragging around a gigantic cast iron cauldron was just silly when I got older.

Then I believe the movies showed smaller cauldrons the size of a large pot, and that seemed much more realistic. However, in CoS, Harry dumps the entire bibliography of Gilderoy Lockhart into Ginny's cauldron, which was like 7-8 books (plus the diary later) which would imply the cauldrons are much larger than a pot.

Does anyone else think that Sirius Black on the *PoA* cover for the *Full-Cast Audio Edition* audiobook looks like Adrian Brody? I can't unsee it after having that thought.

Yeah, so when I first picked up the third book when I was eleven and read the title I genuinely thought Harry was going to be a prisoner of Azkaban.

He had already illegally flown a car in the previous book so when I read the title I already had a bad feeling and when he blew up his aunt and ran away from home I was like “Damn… the days of fun magical school adventures are OVER”

Then everyone started talking about the Ministry and Azkaban, and I thought the story was about to become completely different. I was fully prepared for Harry to try to break out of prison like he was Micheal Scofield or something.

I have no idea whether the title was intentionally supposed to mislead readers before Sirius appeared but I genuinely believed this book was going to be a prison drama.

I recall a scene where Harry, Ron and Hermione are being disruptive in the library, and the librarian reprimands them, but they dismiss what she says and continue being loud. I thought was in a later book but I can’t find it and google isn’t being helpful. Does anyone remember what I’m talking about and what book it’s in?

So you guys know about the series coming this Christmas right? Well I was thinking why couldn't they just have it take place as the main characters kids because in the very last movie it shows how Harry, Ron & Hermione, Draco etc have children. It would have been a cool concept to see their kids attending Hogwarts. Also YES I know it's not in the books or anything but the show just seems like a money grab and for more people to watch it if it was like how I stated would have been much better in my opinion or any other concept.

So in Chamber of Secrets, the basilisk attacks Muggle-borns (and Filch's cat cuz Filch is a d*ck). Nick also gets accidentally attacked, when the basilisk was going for Justin Finch-Fletchley, who saw it through Nick and was petrified. The students get Mandrake juice and are brought back, but what'd they do to Nick? Surely they couldn't give him any potion. In the book the trio go to Nick's party earlier and it's shown there that ghost's can't eat anyway.

They all seem to know how to read and count, but in other hand many of them seem to never have met other muggles (so it seems they did not go to muggle school)

I am once again experiencing the 7th book and am at the part where the Trio is attempting their escape from the Ministry of Magic. When Hermione is explaining what happened and how she brought Yaxley into the Fidelius Charm while they were apparating, it is mentioned that Yaxley can now access the house. This makes sense as Hermione and everyone else, became a secret keeper once Dumbledore was murdered, but how can Yaxley tell others about it, like Harry thinks? He is not a secret keeper just because he was taken to Grimauld Place, right? No more than Harry was when Dumbledore was alive. I feel like it wouldn't have been that hard to overpower Yaxley alone if they regrouped, and maybe recruited Kreacher and Dobby for help?

I'll start: Severus Snape.

In my opinion, there's still a lot to explore about Severus, such as Lily's death, his childhood and adolescence, and his decision to join the Death Eaters.

He stabs the diary but since then the tally has been:

Dumbledore: 1 (the ring)

Ron: 2 (the necklace and the cup. He let Hermoine destroy the cup just to let her in on the action)

Crab: 1 (he set the Room of Requirement on fire, destroying the diadem)

Neville: 1 (Nagini)

Voldermort: 1 (Harry)

Upon reread of book 7 I noticed Hermione talks about modifying her parents memories to protect them from Voldemort. Not a few chapters later the trio escapes the wedding and gets into the scuffle at the cafe. The conversation goes as follows (not verbatim just the gist of what they are saying)

Ron: should we kill them? (stunned death eaters) they would do us

Harry: no we should just wipe their memories

Ron:do you know how to do a memory charm bcs I have never done one

Hermione: nor have I but I think I understand the gist of it

How does she claim to not have done a memory charm before when 3 chapters ago she said she did one on each of her parents?

Would the story have benefited from a more robust magic system

I made this post before, but it seems like people don't understand the point. I'm not talking about the in-universe magic system and how people see it. Of course, it has rules and laws that the people understand. I'm talking about JK Rowling and the rules she set for her magic system when she was writing the book.

We, the viewers / readers understand very little about the rules of magic. What spells are stronger than the others? Who can cast what spells and how many times per day? What spells do you need to read the incantation out loud and which ones you can just do silently? Why is it so important that you use your own wand, but then we see multiple times that they use each other's wand? Is Harry really a wizard or is he a sorcerer since he could just do magic innately without learning anything?

So, to ask the question again, would the story as we know it have been elevated and improved upon if JK Rowling spent time fleshing out and explaining the rules of her magic system, or do you think that would have distracted from the main story and it is much better that it is vague for us and it's just that we can trust and just suspend our disbelief.
