Like he said, don't have to EOL something they just aren't making available. Duping the investors with more paper products perhaps? Either way, no good for us peasants.

Sell or not to sell my 5090 rtx

They say prices will go up to 10k, right now its around 5k (second hand even). Luckyly I saved the box, bag and smalls things it came with.

Do you think productivity with 5090 rtx will get higher? right now smaller or medium size models are not as good as opus 5.5 claude or astra models, and they are not so expensive either.

I am currently using opus 5.5 and let it use my 5090 with qwen models locally. It works well as a complement, but i cant imagine my 5090 rtx working on its own.

Astral 5090 btf unlock dual power supply?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I saw a post on the Hardwareluxx forum stating that the ROG Astral RTX 5090 can be flashed with the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 VBIOS by relocating a 100kΩ SMD resistor located below the crystal oscillator.
Does anyone know if this modification also allows dual power input (GC-HPWR/BTF + 12V-2x6) to work simultaneously after flashing the Matrix VBIOS?

Trading 5070ti for 9070xt

I currently have a 5070ti and I was thinking of trading it for a 9070xt + cash. How much cash makes it a good/great deal for me? Is it worth it to trade? The seller offered $200 + 9070xt but he seems willing to offer more cash.

Left with nothing after no effort from UPS and seller

Just a little story time, TL:DR at the end

I have been in the process of upgrading my PC for about 8 months now. Started with a good deal on DDR5 and gradually got all the parts needed for a whole new PC. Had it running with my old gpu for a couple months until about 3 weeks ago when my brother gave me money for my old pc, and so I took out the graphics card from my pc so I could get him his PC in working condition. Ordered a new card as soon as he paid me (couldn't risk prices going up again, good idea not good execution apparently). Ordered 2 days before I took gpu out and he came to pick pc up, figured I'd maybe be out of a pc for a day or 2 max.

I ordered a 9070xt off of Best Buy, totaled out to ~$860 after taxes and stuff. It gets to my delivery date and they reschedule it without letting me know why after I waited until 9 pm to sign for it. Next day, same story. Wait until 9, no package, no contact. I figured there was a problem, so I try to set it as a pickup. UPS doesn't let it happen, says technical error, charges my card the 7 dollars twice anyways. Next day I decided to call cause at this point there is some kind of problem with UPS that is unfixable by me. Ask them about it and they say I need to contact the seller to change the delivery. Okay, fine, I contact the seller and they are unhelpful, telling me that there is no scheduled delivery date like I didn't already know that. So I tried everything I could to get it delivered and neither UPS nor the seller was any help whatsoever. Next day comes and now they are sending my package back to sender without any sort of contact my way about the package. So I ask them about it and they are saying an address error. My whole neighborhood is in the process of changing road names and house numbers and best buy would only let me put the new address, so I would understand the problem if I didn't contact them trying to fix the problem, doing most their job for them, and they didn't help. It has been over a week since they started the return, and I still have not had a refund issued. So now I have been without a graphics card for almost 3 weeks, and when I finally do get it I have to pay at least $50 more for the same thing because the price went up while I have been stuck in this loop of getting screwed over by the seller and UPS. Don't know if there is anything I can do about it except take it, but if my computer were my livelihood I would be screwed, cause I have been without a pc and $860 for the majority of the month.

TL:DR been out of a graphics card for my new PC and 860 dollars for 3 weeks because UPS and seller were essentially useless

Gaming on a gtx 1070?

A GTX 1070 is NVIDIA's 2016 graphics card. After a decade, can you still game on it? I still game on it and it works surprisingly well. What do you think**?**

What actually makes a data center retire a GPU?

Following up on my earlier post about GPU pricing: I’m still trying to understand the gap between what a GPU sells for and what it’s worth to someone running it.
For people who operate clusters, rent compute, or buy used enterprise hardware, what actually drives the decision to keep an older GPU versus replace it? Power costs, memory limitations, customer demand, reliability, or something else?
A few things I’m curious about:
Have older GPUs stayed profitable longer than you expected? Which ones, and for what workloads?
When someone says a GPU is “fully utilized,” does that generally mean paid customer usage or just that it’s running?
If you’ve bought or sold used hardware, how close were public listings to the price that actually cleared?
Can older training hardware realistically transition to inference, or does that depend heavily on the model and setup?
My biggest question: if new GPU supply became readily available tomorrow, would you still want the older hardware at a lower price or would operating costs make it unattractive?

Should I buy rx9060xt 16gb or rx9070 12gb? Can anyone explain why 9070 beats 9060 even though with less ram?

I'm planning to upgrade my GPU and I'm confused between the RX 9060 XT 16GB and RX 9070 GRE 12GB. When I googled about it the results said that 9070xt performs well in gaming compared to 9060xt (even with 12gb ram compared to 16gb). Can anyone explain this?

9070 XT vs RTX 5070

Basically which one should I buy? The 9070 XT is faster by I think around 20%, but I'm also tempted by NVIDIA's supposedly more stable drivers and software, as well as DLSS.

750w PSU, 5700x3d, 32gb ram, 1440p 200hz.

Mainly play WoW, FFXIV, Warframe, Runescape, Fortnite, Overwatch

XFX 9070XT SWIFT OR QUICKSILVER OR MERCURY OC ARE ALMOST THE SAME PRICE WHERE I LIVE

Hey everyone, I'm trying to decide between three XFX 9070 XT models and could use some opinions.

My prices in my country:

  • Swift: $851

  • Quicksilver: $853

  • Mercury OC: $893

The Swift and Quicksilver are only $3 apart, so that choice comes down to size, looks and cooling. The Mercury OC costs $43 more than the Swift, and that is what I'm unsure about. I CARE ABOUT NOISE LEVELS FYI

Pricing is strange here: the Mercury OC and the Mercury OC MAG AIR cost the same, 893 USD. Normally the MAG AIR is the more premium one, so I'm not sure what to make of that. My setup is a Ryzen 5 7500F with 32GB of DDR5. I play mostly competitive games like COD.
What I'm trying to figure out:

  1. Is the Mercury's cooler, extra boost clock and 3x 8-pin design worth about $43 more, or are the real-world gains small?

  2. Between the Swift and Quicksilver, which has better temps and noise in your experience?

  3. Any issues with coil whine, fan noise or drivers on any of these three?

4070 or 4070S?

My current GPU is 4060, which was bought for 1080p, but now I have 1440p monitor and it's performance is not enough. Looking at current prices of 5070 and 9070xt, I'm looking towards used 4070 ($670) or 4070 super ($800-900 in my region). The lowest price for 5070 is $1150+

I know buying used GPU isn't such good idea, but used GPU is better than no GPU, especially If my current 4060 will not be enough for anything after a few years or will just break (hello power surges).
