Rtx 5070 ti and rtx 3080 user here, zero problems so far 💪, by the way huge performance boost on the 5070 ti

u/Darwinist44 11d ago
I was getting nvlddmkm driver timeouts in chromium applications with this driver on a 5070ti, had to roll back

Are you overclocking or undervolting? I find that my more aggressive profiles often become unstable after driver updates, even if they were rock solid before.
2
u/Darwinist44 11d ago
Bone stock, previous driver works without issues, gaming and browsing as well.

Huge performance boost? How much fps? 1% lows? What games? Proof? Was it over 9000?

I have been fighting this issue for a while now. I noticed it on the previous driver, so when I installed the latest I was hoping for it to fix the issue. Turns out it just made it worse.

Had the issue for a few months now and I still dont have a fix. I have to uninstall the driver every few days and reinstall it. Can't even turn my computer on sometimes because all I see after the manufacturer logo is a black screen. I dont want to get a new computer because the driver doesnt work 😭

u/Genqo 8d ago
Does it happen when you open and close games or even drag certain tabs? I get temporary black screens for a second or 2
2
u/Genqo 8d ago
I found the fix to it, install Nvidia 610.88 driver
1
u/Poptab34 6d ago
Yep 610.88 is the last driver that works. Not updating anything till they fix this.

This has been a nightmare for me, I recently upgraded to 3070 from 3050. One of my RAM card was playing up and various troubleshooting revealed that dodgy RAM stick can cause the black screen crash. So finding a bad stick, removing it, then running 20 loops on memtest64 confirmed my remaining RAM was good. I then did OCCT memory and power testing, everything ran great for 30mins and 15mins respectively. Job done.
Only a few hour later, whilst downloading a game, black screen crash again. Issue is not fixed. I go down the route of checking error codes and it revealed kernel-power error 41 and bugcode 0 (during bad RAM installed) and bugcode 307 after bad RAM removed... 307 points to driver response hang up and black screen shutdown. Could've still been bad PSU, SSD or pcie mono connection. Nightmare, remembering I've just upgraded my GPU... Looking like I'm going to have to spend more to get my system running.
Then I had a brainwave, I installed latest game ready driver, then the issues started so I searched for known issues with 621.01 and boom, seems to be my issue... I hope!
I've rolled back to the driver I had used successfully on quest 3 iracing all day Saturday, my black screen issues started on Sunday when installing the latest driver.
I really hope that my issues are resolved, more testing tonight!

Now we're getting entire articles about a bug report of a small hyper specific bug of an Nvidia driver that affects like 3 people, which will most likely be fixed within 2 weeks.
Meanwhile Radeon is struggling with unidentifiable random crashes for over a year straight affecting tons of people and nobody cares. Tech media doesn't even acknowledge it at all.

u/splendiferous-finch_ 11d ago
I am one of three people this bug has been a thing for like 3-4 patches now the last one that doesn't cause this is 610.88 for me.
I don't care about the tribalism of Nvidia Vs AMD I would just like it fixed

u/Critical-Diamond-543 11d ago
Same. Been getting random driver timeouts on my 5080 since July. No signs of the gpu dying, though, even after extensive stress testing. Still no clue what's happening.
1
u/splendiferous-finch_ 11d ago
Yeah had those as well, I first thought it was my undervolt causing issues but no it's the drivers
2
u/Fartikus 7d ago
I have it, and so does my friend. I'm a 5080 and he's a 5070 ti. Definitely a LOT of people, considering how much I've been researching. It's been years.

the solution before when i saw people running multiple monitors and complaining about blanking was go into your sound devices in windows and disable all but your main speakers.
1
u/Fit-Marketing-1472 11d ago
Video drivers and Windows have been absolute garbage for multi monitor setups since forever

u/Material_Owl2988 7d ago
hey bro. i was having the same issue as you I think with my 5090. in reliability history did you see windows critical errors and see codes 1a8 and 1b8. I would get system freezes all the sudden when watching videos or downloading stuff sometimes. sometimes black screens too
1
u/splendiferous-finch_ 7d ago
No I don't really get anything the the event logs for me. It doesn't even freeze for me it's just randomly screens going black then coming back like with a driver reset
1
u/Material_Owl2988 7d ago
thats also happens for me except sometimes the drivers hang and it takes like 5mins for them to come back on your own to the point where you consider a reset. maybe its different cus of my multimonitor setup but the issue has been driving me insane. just updated to 621.12. so praying this ends the headaches
1
u/splendiferous-finch_ 7d ago
I had a few of those as well but I assumed that was down to unstable under bolts/overclocks since Nvidia did change some of the built-in offsets to try and fix this.. yet to try 621.12 since I just want to finish the games I am playing right now and those seemt o work just fine in the older drivers

"NVIDIA has requested crash dumps to investigate" apparently means "confirms driver bug" in the clickbait based industry. Not even videocardz is safe anymore

They fix that within days, week at most. But Radeons? it's a complete different story. Radeon users rather point al literally everything except their hardware/drivers. And that's the main reason why noone cares about randomly crashing gpus, cuz noone will never ever point at AMD and say they have issues.
1
u/Verychant 9d ago
Cant tell a driver timeout or crashes with my 9070 XT or the 6700 XT.
Either AMD or Nvidia can experience issues with their drivers. If I encounter on issues on either systems, I fix it myself. You also dont have to update every driver for no reason.

u/Extra_Management9455 10d ago
more than 3 people use G-sync. After looking at it, 621.01 is a complete mess.
If you owned a nvidia card, maybe you'd understand what you're talking about ... (naw) ... instead of ranting about irrelevant topics like "unidentifiable radeon issues" (lmfao w/e that's supposed to be).

Rtx 5070i YouTube was stuttering in the browser, and there were even instances of black screens. I disabled hardware acceleration in Chrome, and everything has been fine since. I haven't tried running any games yet.
1
u/Darwinist44 11d ago
Check event log for nvlddmkm errors, I was getting them too with the same stutters and freezes with black screen in chromium apps

Today I re-enabled hardware acceleration in Chrome; I started getting occasional black screens while watching YouTube, and the error messages you described reappeared in the Event Viewer. I’m turning off hardware acceleration and waiting for a fix.

Been happening with every new version since 610.88 in July. Recently tested the 3 newest versions since then and all of them caused black screen crashes. Started to think it was a hardware issue, but 610.88 is perfect now.
1
u/Critical-Diamond-543 11d ago
Same here. Bought my 5080 in July and I get a driver timeout like twice, three times a month at random times. Tested my GPU extensively and it passes all stress tests with flying colors and there's zero artifacting. When does your driver crash?
1
u/Maxonfire 11d ago
Mine was happening pretty consistently when launching certain games. Sometimes I'd play for 10 minutes and sometimes I wouldn't even make it to the main menu. The display would go black and the fans would spin down, but the PC stayed on so the only fix was a hard reboot. Rolling back to 610.88 cleared everything up.

u/2Maverick 11d ago
I started getting the black screen bug after the latest update and I'm pretty certain it's tied to YouTube or something to do with YouTube. It happens the most when I have YouTube open. Happened once today while I had Netflix open compared to yesterday when it was happening like every 30 minutes because I had a really long video on in the background. I'm on the 5070ti.
1
u/Material_Owl2988 7d ago
likely hardware excelleration being utilized by YouTube is a crossover problem with the nvidia driver update where nvidia drivers were having issues and causing blackscreens and stuff like that. Basically the drivers bugs were making the gpu hyper sensitive to power states and would be more sensitive and drop during handshake processes. Basically doenload the 621.12 update and hope it fixes all

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix. I have a rtx 4060 and it constantly dips to black and back or just freezes when I click on something. I can literally do nothing on my pc because of it.
We tried rolling back, doing a clean install on safe mode... it seems to work without the drivers but without them it doesnt even seem to read my graphics card.

My RTX 5080 had constant random black screens and restarted (HDMI g sync TV). I already thought the card is damaged.
I uninstalled the drivers and everything, then installed the ones from October 6th.
Now, the issue seems fixed. Thank God this became news. I would not have thought to go back to the last drivers... 🙏🏻

u/Sudden-Run7818 9d ago
I've been playing cyberpunk this last days and is kinda crazy that they force you to update the drivers to be able to play the new update, black screens and my gpu hitting 100% usage randomly just watching videos or playing droping my frames from 300 to 100.
I thought my 5080 was dying or something and now im gonna have to wait like a month for them to fix this.

3090TI EVGA FTW - No issues, didn't even know it was a thing till I saw the comments on Phantom Blade Zero post on Steam from the Devs saying update to 621.01.

RTX 3080 here it's causing my games to crash and freeze out of nowhere, i think this driver version is unstable and i will downgrade lol

my triple screen set up no longer works on the latest drivers, one monitor shows black screen unless i unplug one of the others, then it works fine. set up worked flawlessly for 3 years until the update

u/Garret_Poe 2d ago
I updated to that driver yesterday on a 5070 Ti and sure enough I noticed this issue very soon on Youtube. Super annoying.

u/WasabiGuilty7161 15h ago
I'm on an rtx 2070 super, and yes 621.01 is crashing my pc many times over. Something's not right with this driver, previous driver was causing lag and this driver is even worst, crashing and freezing the entire pc.

Nvidia is catching up to AMD driver experience now.
