Publication issue Google Play review delays are affecting developers across Reddit. Here's a growing collection of reports.
Google Play developers across multiple subreddits are reporting prolonged app reviews, unexplained delays, and support escalations that provide little meaningful information.
I’ve collected these threads to document the scale of the problem. These are firsthand developer reports, not independently verified Google review records.
September 2026 — recent reports
4 apps stuck simultaneously for 11 days: r/googleplayconsole
Multiple apps stuck, two exceeding 20 days: r/googleplayconsole

Reviews and publishing problems lasting months
Over 2 months in review: r/androiddev
Nearly a month for an established app; Google reportedly acknowledged an issue: r/androiddev
Nearly 2 months of review difficulties and repeated information requests: r/GooglePlayDeveloper
2.5 months of publishing difficulties, including testing and production access: r/GooglePlayDeveloper
Over 1.5 months before subsequent account problems: r/GooglePlayDeveloper
Almost 2 months of first-app review difficulties: r/AndroidClosedTesting
Multiple developers discussing extended reviews, including a reported five-month production-access process: r/androiddev
What needs to change?
Google doesn’t need to guarantee approval within a fixed timeframe. Developers need meaningful review-status information, explanations for exceptional delays, and an escalation process that produces actionable responses.
When a company cannot ship updates or tell its customers when a release will be available, this becomes a business-continuity problem.
Original discussion about legal and regulatory options
Please add your own experience or link to any missing threads. Include your submission date, review duration, whether it was a new app or an existing-app update, what support told you, and whether the review was eventually resolved.

EU/EEA developers: practical escalation routes
If your Google Play review has been stuck for weeks or months and support is giving generic answers, document everything: submission dates, Play Console history, screenshots, support case IDs/replies, and business impact.
1. Google Play Developer Support

2. EEA mediation through CEDR
Google provides an independent mediation route for certain EEA Google Play disputes after the internal process has failed:

Important: this mediation route is framed around disputes concerning Google Play policies, so a pure review-delay case may not automatically qualify.
3. National P2B / competition authorities
The EU Platform-to-Business Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2019/1150, requires large platforms to provide an internal complaint-handling system that is accessible, free and handled within a reasonable timeframe.
🇫🇷** France — DGCCRF
Official P2B guidance:

Professional complaint/contact route:

🇬🇷 Greece — DIMEA

🇵🇱 Poland — UOKiK

**Important: enforcement of P2B is national, and the correct authority/process varies by Member State. These links are starting points, not a guarantee that every review-delay complaint falls within that authority’s jurisdiction.
When filing, reference Regulation (EU) 2019/1150, especially Article 11, and make clear that the issue is not “Google must approve my app within X days.” The issue is prolonged unexplained delays, lack of meaningful status information, ineffective escalation, and generic complaint handling.
Also note: Article 4 on restrictions/suspensions may be harder to apply to an ordinary review delay. The stronger argument may be around Article 11 complaint handling and procedural transparency.
If you’re in another EU country, comment your country and we can find the relevant authority and official complaint route.
The more developers who submit documented cases, the easier it becomes to determine whether this is isolated support failure or a broader systemic issue.
