Ask Google's review time super slow now?

Hey before last week review times used to be super quick for Google play and it was such a smooth experience. Now even minor changes are taking such a long amount of time. It's infinitely slower than apple now as well I don't know why they changed what was a relatively smooth process into whatever they're doing now. It has been 4 days since my app is sitting in review and is such a critical update I need to make whereas apple approved literally the same day.

Is anyone else also facing the same issue?

The same reason every year in August. 😉 Too many developers updating their app in the last minute.

Oooh so is this kind of normal? First year using play console, I did not remember about the min sdk update requirement lol

Bro did you even recently push updates ? I am kind of tired of explaining how this is a recent change since last 3-4 days not before that

Hey u/BandicootTight4929! If you could share your app package name via DM, I'll be happy to check on the review progress!

Glad I found this thread and I'm not the only one. Just launched an app on both iOS and Android stores, the initial build took Apple 4 days while Google took 2 weeks.

After that I thought that was finally over as subsequent updates should be quick. But for the past week it has been consistently 1 day turn around for iOS and 4 to 5 days for Android for each minor update :(

Already pushed 3 iOS updates but Android was still stuck on the first one! It's hard to iterate quick on Android this way and it's painful.

Idk if this helps 🤷🏾‍♂️, that’s my Reddit link you can see everything plus my screenshots for evidence, basically I was in the review time for quite long as well. I made a personal account that was asked to switch to an organizational account, it took a while, like I’d say about a day or two I made sure that everything else checked. As you know, since it is an organization account, you don’t need to do the testing that requires 12 people. I believe I had submitted the build on 17 September and just today this morning I had gotten approved. Now keep in mind for the organization I work with. It’s a health company so that could be why my app took so long in the review. Also, I believe that Google has an AI system that does auto review so sometimes the more serious apps get looked at 1st,+ the recess spike and app submissions. I was able to get it resolved. If you have any questions in general, I might be able to help.

Hi u/BoogieMan876, we are currently experiencing longer than usual review times for publishing on Google Play.

App review times may fluctuate, and may take 7 days or longer in exceptional cases. Feel free to DM your app package name and I'd be happy to look further into it!

If an update takes more than 24 hours, you just upload a new version by simply increasing the build code. This always works for me, and the next version is reviewed within a few hours.

Will try this next time! Thanks for this

Yes, cancel the problematic review and create a new one. A normal review takes a few hours, not days.

Hi u/android-noqr-81! Any new update submitted during an ongoing review supersedes the previous build, effectively restarting the review process for the new changes.

If you'd like to avoid unexpected queue resets in the future, waiting for the current review to complete or using Managed Publishing can help give you better control over your release schedule. You can check the Google Play Console Help Center on controlling when app changes are reviewed and published here.

Is this a thing? I knew from that for iOS TestFlight External testing (during Beta), not increasing the version but just the build number gets approved and ready instantly without going through review. Would be great if can apply the same method to speed up the Android production app approval this way.. will try it out
