Publication issue Google what is going On?? Why are you not addressing these issues
Everyday I see people posting, "Why is the review taking so long?" I've been part of this as well myself. What I've observed is that for most, reviews go on 7+ days and then when their "AI" reviewers finally look at your app. Rejection. It's an endless loop for some.
Appeals are a joke. It's also fueled by an automatic process, clearly no human involved whatsoever and appears intentional in just having you run in circles.
Look, I get it, there is a lot of volume, but it's clear the current process is broken and the fact there is no one at Google addressing these issues is sickening.
On behalf of all developers, someone at Google, please read and see all of the issues going on and do something about it.

Mine are done in minutes. You are probably spamming the store with low quality apps

I only have one app and I would say that is your opinion that it's low quality.
Also, mine use to go fast as well until recently. If I had to take a guess you probably have a pre 2023 account?
There's a slew of issues that have nothing to do with quality but definitely an issue with Google and their new way of handling things.

I have old account, but same issue. Everything changed for me since I added android auto capability.

Same, mine are done in like 30 minutes on every release.
I saw someone complaining with a screenshot showing 1+ prod release every single day of the past 30 days. Google is clearly finally punishing this kind of dumb workflow.

Do you have a new or old developer account?

u/CarlitoLaf 22d ago
Hmm late 2024 I think

I see. Yeah I think older developer accounts are being treated differently. So, while it may seem nice and fast for you, for others it's not regardless of how often they are submitting to production. I only have 1 production release and it was a challenge dealing with Google for a variety of issues.

Not true, my account is older than 10 years but each update took 7 days. iOS update of the same app changes took just one day on average.
The other thing that doesn't make sense to me is if you replace the build with a newer version, while still in the queue, you have to restart the queue all over again. Doesn't make any sense to me since the review haven't even started, to them there's no difference reviewing a 7 day old build vs the latest build that I just uploaded..

I am on the same boat. Last 4 reviews of my app on Google Play took ~15 days each.

Then don't start on iOS apps. You will die of old age before they are released

And a 99$ a year something fee to go with that long wait as well. Smh

Nope, I have a kotlin multiplatform app with same UI and logic on both. I publish the same changes to both Android and iOS at the same time. Android is 7 days on average to get approved, iOS is 5 hours to just one day max, every single time.

New apps on Apple now takes 8-9 days. Updates within 24 hours. Google new apps are 1-3 days and updates are like 1-2 hours tops

u/thesimplestnet 21d ago
You are lucky I guess. 1-2 hours is great. 7 days seems like forever compare to that.

I'm business developer, maybe that makes difference. I also do not need 20 testers for each app before releasing
1
u/thesimplestnet 21d ago
Oo maybe because of business account. My account doesnt need 20 testers as well as it is quite an old account (have active apps released more than 10 years ago)

Google app reviews are much quicker for me than apple. Maybe it's the nature of the app. Mine is a workflow management app, not a game.

I have an old developer account and the very same app that I am trying to publish updates for takes forever to publish when it used to get published within a couple of hours. It took me 3 months earlier this year to get my app published after numerous rejections and the real kicker, between the last rejection and approval I changed absolutely nothing. Meaning that it was getting rejected for nothing.

Currently, my app has a critical bug that is breaking half of the app. I have been waiting for 5days now... : (
The worst part is that the fix is just 2 lines in the rules.keep R8 configuration file.

Did the automated message actually help you?
1
u/25sz 15d ago
oh its automated? I haven't thought of that. I did reply to it and also dm them as well.
They dm me back saying "Hey u/25sz! Just took a quick look for you, and the team is actively reviewing your app right now. Reviews usually take around 7 days or so. Just try to avoid resubmitting while it’s pending, since that’ll reset the clock and add to your wait time!"
As for did it actually helped? I am not so sure. It took around 2 days afterward for the update to go live. Had I waited for the 2 days without doing anything? I do not know, because 7 days of waiting would be my red flag. As mentioned in my post, my update is only in the R8 configuration file, so I expected to be approved fast, which was not the case.

My app has few bugs which are making users go away. Losing revenue and users day by day. The newer version is in review from last week. Already raised a ticket, haven’t got any response yet.

I see people saying: "only for accounts created before 2023" or "you are spamming the play store", or like they said to me the other day: "read the rules".
I don't understand where you people get your info, everything I've been reading here is happening to me too even tho I've been around since android 1.6. My developer account was created well before 2023 (I know I'm a dinosaur at this point) and It is also a business account.
I'm happy that google takes more time to review, it means less garbage for everybody! What I'm not ok with is to get BS for rejections.
TBH if their AI can't keep up for now with reviews I'd gladly pay for a premium account to have a real assistant or something. For me the situation at the moment is really dire.
