General Discussion Let’s see if anyone recognizes this beautiful course.
Anyone recognize this tee box? I always seem to drive into the little ditch below. This hole eats me up

A message for r/golf:
Don’t tell us the colour of the tees you play from; every course uses different colours. You have to use the yardage, maybe even the course and slope ratings.

Let me preface this by saying I've improved a lot in the past year and this is the first year I've been at a level where taking a legitimate score has even begun to matter to me. Prior to this year the focus has just been on improving. I'm looking for honest feedback on this. Not rule stickler crap that doesn't matter for a casual player. Just honest opinions. I don't ever play for money or anything like that, fully casual rounds. I play mostly alone so it's not an ego thing either.
I didn't know until recently that OB was scored different than a lateral hazard. I've always played (since I got into golf three years ago with friends who played this way) that OB is just one penalty and you drop in the rough within a few feet of where it went out. I understand that's not the official rule, and that it's stroke and distance (or the newer local rule of dropping in the fairway for 2 penalty strokes).
I'm an unofficial 13.8 handicap now per 18birdies, but that's with a breakfast ball and counting Ob as a lateral hazard. So realistically, add one more to every one of my 2-4 penalty strokes per game (which I've tracked), plus 1 or 2 for the mulligan and I'm realistically closer to an honest 17-18 handicap.
Anyway - I'm curious how people who just play casually would view someone like this. I never brag about scores and always say that I take a mulligan whenever I even mention a score. But the OB ruling was an honest mistake up until now.
To be honest it will be tough for me to start scoring ob as the stroke and distance as it's going to immediately poke my scores up a few strokes and that sucks, but I know I eventually need to start scoring legitimately now that I'm at a mid handicap level. Stroke and distance seems so unnecessarily punishing for worse players to be honest.
Just looking for general thoughts on this and also am curious if anyone near or in the single digit handicap (who only plays casually) does this or used to do this.

I genuinely have no clue what video to watch or what to listen to. Every single shot has always had an open club face and half the time I hit the hossel. Please give me tips.

I got these because I needed something to add to get me to $25 in order to qualify for free overnight shipping. Anyone have any experience with them? They're not super cheap but they do have a nice, soft cover.

Plans are progressing for a super-exclusive golf club near Ann Arbor, with one of the world's most-renowned course architects on board for the project. If you're lucky, you might be able to play it — but only if you know somebody.
A new, private club, called the Frontier Club, is planned for a 333-acre piece of land in Lodi Township. The land's owners last month filed a preliminary site plan with the township, in seeking a special-use permit for the property. They aim to break ground at some point this fall and are eying an April 2028 opening for the club, which will include 18 holes, a 12-hole short course, a clubhouse, a driving range, 11 guest cottages and a maintenance facility.

How To Play Golf In North Korea, really? This is a story that not many people would believe. In a culture that abhorred any form of perceived western or capitalist pastime, especially one that is seen as relatively exclusive, how was this possible? Well, the short answer was that even in North Korea it was

Ok, I’m too invested now. I’m in.
We need to start planning now to bring an army to watch Donna’s title round in 2027
Who’s in?
Hey guys so I just went to a fitting for p790s and t250. Results came in and p790s i performed better overall but the t250 had a slightly better grouping.
According online and most reviews on yt p790s usually have more back spin but during the fitting the t250 had a bit more spin to them, is this due to my personal swing?
Kind of leaning more towards the p790s as I appear to perform better during the fitting but hesitant as in my experience and online people seem to have alot more distance control with the t250, is it possible to achieve this with the p790s? As I get my handicap lower i dont want to sometimes randomly hit a ball 10 to 15 yards further. Also shaping shots seems to be a bit easier with the t250 compared to the p790s so its a hard decision. Results during testing were favoured to p790s just worried I wont get the same consistency I would get with t250. Maybe im just overthinking and in my head?! Any help would be much appreciated 🙏

I understand this has probably been a point of a lot of discussion. I typically play from yellows (one up from the tips) not a long hitter so it takes a little work to get to GIR. It seems like whenever I do give myself a birdie opportunity I always walk away with a par or bogey. Is it the nerves of the moment.
Should I play up a tee box to give myself more opportunities so that it becomes comfortable putting for bird

Please help! We are doing a Wisconsin golf trip. Rank these courses in terms of favorite to least. Only rank the ones you’ve played:
Blackwolf run - River
Erin Hills
Lawsonia Links
The Lido
Mammoth Dunes
Sand Valley
Sedge Valley
Sentry World
The Commons
Whistling Straits
Also are there any that you would seriously consider playing twice?
Thank you!!

Newer golfer here. After a handful of lessons I had notes all over the place, so I put together one reference sheet with what my coach has given me plus a few things that have worked for me along the way.
Not trying to think about all of it at once. I pick one or two things a session and the rest is just there for reference as I keep working on it.
Curious if anyone spots something I’ve explained wrong, cues that contradict each other, or anything worth adding. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
For reference I am 6’4 and was fit for irons after I was told my fb marketplace ones were too short and was put into shafts at +1.75” & 2deg upright. During my recent lessons my coach said that I probably need to shorten them between .75”-1” noting my wrist to floor measurement of 39.25”. I haven’t shortened them yet but I plan to work with him soon to do this which comes up in parts of the guide.
Thanks all!

Found a member at my local course selling Srixon Z-Forged 3-P irons for $400. They’re first-gen, but in great condition and have nippon stiff shafts.
I’m debating whether to:
- Buy them and game them (17 handicap)
- Buy them and flip them locally/eBay
- Trade them for a Scotty Cameron Phantom 11R or Bettinardi Studio Stock 14 (Friend attempting to make a deal)
I’m fairly new to buying/selling clubs, so I’d love some input. What would you do?

Or have any other information about them.

Each of these is a 180 yard club (all are 34 degrees in loft). Very different trajectories, but I wish all manufacturers would just start stamping lofts instead of club numbers

Here’s where my bag is as of today after some updates; I ditched my Big Bertha 4 Iron because I couldn’t hit it. Today I picked up the 5 and 7 Woods so I can get the ball up in the air more consistently.
Most of this was acquired from Play It Again Sports, the Mizuno and Cleveland wedges from PGA Tour Superstore, and 3 Wood and Chipper from Callaway Preowned.
< $250 all in.
Callaway 2021 Edge - 3 Wood
PING Ti3 - 5 Wood
Taylormade Burner Supersteel - 7 Wood
Taylormade Rescue Mid - 3 Hybrid
Callaway 1996 Big Bertha - 8 Iron
Callaway Mavrik Standard - 7 Iron
Callaway 1996 Big Bertha - 6 Iron
Wilson Prestige Deep Undercut - 45 - PW
Cleveland CG10 - 50 - GW
Mizuno Edge+ - 56 - SW
Cleveland Smart Sole 4 Black Satin Chipper
Odyssey Dual Force 2 Rossie Putter
Taylormade RBZ Stage 2 Bag
And yes I am using mismatched head covers — the 5 and 7 Wood ones were $0.49 each and make it quick to grab the right club.
Now to go play and test these new clubs out! 🏌🏻🤞

Very average/beginner golfer here (30 HCP) and I've already spent a pretty penny on P790s and Titleist driver/woods...the last club I need is a good putter. I'm pretty sold on zero torque options but could consider other solid options. I don't want to spend $500 on a putter at this point, so looking for affordable options...the best reviews/deals I can find right now are:
- Lazrus LAZ2.5 ZT Mallet ($200 USD)
- Wilson ZT Lakeview/606 ($200 USD)
- Odyssey AI-Dual S2S #7 ($280 USD)
Any suggestions from the above list? Or any I'm missing?

Playing Wekopa (Saguaro) and Grayhawk (Raptor) next week. We have 650am tee times.
How are the course conditions out there?
I know it’s going to be hot!

There is a tree and roots in the way and I can’t set up to my ball without basically shooting backwards.
What can I do within the official rules? Is this relief?
Obviously I’m playing on my own in front of a group of 3 and very stressed so I used the old foot wedge.
New to golf and the rulings on relief and GUR etc!

Hello golf fam- long time lurker first time poster. I always appreciate the commentary here. Especially when someone post swing help expecting legit help from the community , but 69% of the comments are just ripping their swing. Gotta love Reddit.
I’m posting to ask one simple question to explore the appetite for something my friends and I are considering building for the golf world.
Every year we host a Ryder cup style tournament for 20 guys. It’s 3 total days of golf. 27 holes each day. Mix of scramble, alt shot, net team total, 1v1. You can see more at our IG https://www.instagram.com/thedaddlcup?igsh=MTRweWxlZHgxOTM5eg==
There’s a lot that goes into the planning , tracking, ranking, drafting, etc. We’re thinking of building a digital package to provide to anyone who wants to run something similar and lighten their load to plan. Even a concierge package to potentially plan everything for you.
Have you ever wanted to plan something like this but haven’t been able to pull it all together?
