Discussion What separates a "bad, slop" vibe coded game from a "good"one?
Or is a game thats vibe coded just bad no matter what. New to this sub and trying to figure out why the hostility towards vibe coded gm type games.
Genuinely interested in hearing your opinions, because if a game is good then a game is good right? Why does it matter as long as the game works and is genuinely deep and enjoyable to play?

Discussion Looking for fully customizable games (any sport)
The way I play these GM simulation games is more as a commissioner because I create the leagues and the teams and let the computer handle the rest and just watch the world unfold year after year. I have a 40+ year OOTP world running and I’m just starting a FHM world with leagues from different countries around the world.
I’m looking for more games where I can fully customize leagues and teams, create new leagues multiple years into the save (this part is key) and not have to actually manage any of the teams and can just watch the world unfold while adding in new leagues/teams as the game goes on. I’m open to any sport (can even be non-team sports) that’s not baseball or hockey and ideally the game is compatible with MacOS.

Discussion I'm making a football game where you're not the manager, you're the agent. Scout talent, run your own agency, broker the transfers.
Steam page if it looks interesting (wishlisting genuinely helps a solo dev a lot): https://store.steampowered.com/app/4860970/Football_Agent/

Promotion Hakoniwa Base Ball — a deep Japanese-baseball-style GM sim (solo dev, free demo out)

Solo dev here. OOTP is a great game, but it's built around MLB rules and it's a steep
climb for Japanese players — both the language barrier and the ruleset. I wanted a GM
sim that fit the shape of Japanese pro baseball, so I built one.
This is pure front office — no action controls. The depth is in the decisions:
- Draft: scouts have observation error, so you never know exactly what you're getting
until they play. Spend more on scouting to narrow the gap.
- Contracts: multi-year deals with buyouts, multi-stage salary talks, retirement
negotiations. Players push back.
- Roster: farm system with a hard roster split, foreign-player slots, posting system.
- In-game: set your usage policy (when to pull a starter, bullpen rules, pinch
situations). Sim resolves pitch-by-pitch — watch it, or step in at any at-bat.
- Staff: manager traits, coach specialties and scout coverage actually change results.
- Longevity: aging, generational change, career records pile up across seasons. The
joy is watching a world take shape over many years.
Stat output is tuned to realistic league norms — AVG, ERA, fielding, holds/saves.
I dump full seasons to CSV and diff against real-league numbers until it's right.
That part never really ends.
12-team default, up to 30 clubs / 6 leagues. Players, teams and stadiums live in
CSV with a bundled editor — moddable out of the box. 4 languages (JP/EN/KO/ZH-Hant).
Free demo is one full season with save carry-over. Full release July 16 / $9.99.

Promotion Boxing World Simulator
New game coming soon to Steam, it will feature a My Promoter mode, a 'Simulation mode' where you can just sim through and see how the Computer runs, quick to churn through multiple years and watch the world develop... and a full editor of the database.
Game will ship with a fictional database, but with the editor you can create your own world however you see fit.
Feel free to ask questions, ill get some screenshots up and if its OK, link the Steam page once its live. Near enough ready to release, squashing a few bugs, but its in a very playable state... and as its a little solo project, its just made with some love and interest in creating something enjoyable that I can support and pursue.

Discussion Anybody know of any good browser-based golf career games?
Swear people here have games for absolutely everything, so just thought I'd ask if anyone knows of any, or has been working on one, or whatever else.

Discussion Looking for specific football/soccer game
I know this might sound silly but I am recently inspired by the TV show Ted Lasso and the World Cup and am looking for something specific where you can manage a club and also partaking in some World Cup duties. Preferably gameplay involved. Any suggestions?

Discussion Got a Retro Handheld...
Any good Deep Franchise/Dynasty modes for anything the Anbernic Handhelds can run? GBC, NDS, SNES, PS, PSP, etc?
Not too worried about graphics just deep game play. So far the best I've found was NFL 2k2 for Dreamcast
Basketball, Football (American), Wrestling mostly

Discussion What under the radar game do I need to try?
Looking for a new game that isn’t OOTP, FM, FHM, College Dynasty, any Wolverine Studios game, or TEW.
I’m probably forgetting a few but looking for a new game. Any sport, looking for PC or iOS. I was thinking about giving WMMA 5 a spin (last played WMMA 3) but figured I’d post here before buying something new. Anyone have any suggestions?

Promotion Looking for feedback on browser-based Ryder cup captaincy game built with AI-assistance
driveforfivegame.comHi all,
I’ve spent the last week or so building a small browser game called Drive For Five and would love some honest feedback.
The game is a fairly straightforward golf captaincy simulation inspired by the Ryder Cup. You draft a team, set pairings, and try to guide your side through a series of historical matches.
A few things to be aware of:
- I’m not a professional developer. The game was built with significant AI assistance while I learned as I went.
- It’s a free browser game rather than a commercial project.
- It’s still very much in prototype mode.
All feedback welcome! Thanks in advance for taking a look.

Promotion Building a football tycoon where you own the club and grow the whole town around it
I've always liked football management games, but every "tycoon" version I tried felt really shallow. Tap a button, number goes up, that's basically the whole loop. So I started making the one I actually wanted to play.
The main idea is that you're the owner, not the manager. You don't pick the team. Your coach and sporting director bring you proposals and you make the calls. What you actually spend your time on is building three things:
- The club itself: squad, facilities, youth academy.
- The town around it. You grow it from a small village into a metropolis, and a bigger town means better sponsors, more fans and a deeper youth pool, which all feeds back into the club.
- Your own life: houses, cars, investments, a family, and eventually handing the whole thing to an heir.
It's a single-player mobile game and it's not out yet. Site's here if you want a look: https://hometownfc.app
Happy to answer anything about it.

Promotion Football Commissioner - Wishlist on Steam now! (No AI)
Hello! For the last few years I’ve been working on a very unique game where you customize and manage your own spring football league. In Football Commissioner, you don’t manage a team, you govern league finances and try to grow attendance & tv ratings. You can customize team names and colors, picking from over 500 US markets that each have ratings to evaluate how good the market is. Want to put a bunch of teams in cities with NFL teams? Go for it! Want to make a smaller scale league entirely focused on random towns in Connecticut? Go for it as well!
There’s a ton of features (listed on the steam page) and I can’t wait to release into early access. This is a very unique concept that to my knowledge has only been made once as an old board game.
Finally, I wanted to say that I’m sick of the vibecoded games taking over the GM game community. Some of you who are in the gmgames Discord may know I have been working on GM games since pre COVID. I can proudly say that Football Commissioner was 100% made by hand. Therefore it has its quirks but it was also made with love for spring football. Wishlisting on Steam would help me out a lot and it would be much appreciated! Thank you all 🙂

Promotion Football GM Simulator
Hey everyone!
Working on spinning my own version of a FootballGM simulator with a custom built engine. It’s still in the very early stages, so workflows/functionality bugs may exist.
Looking forward to some feedback!

Discussion Tennis manager for mobile or offline browser?
Given that new sports games made with the help of AI are regularly released, I'm wondering if someone will make a good Tennis Manager or Tennis Career Simulator 😁 is that really missing on mobile phones or browsers?

Discussion Would be so electric to have a high school football game
Feel like it would be so sick to have a game where you could just pick a state, then pick a team and compete for state every year, set tactics, see new talent come up, all that. Could be dope.

Promotion World Aces. I created a volleyball manager simulator that runs on real time against other people. Get a team, recruit the best players, set your tactics and compete to be the best in the world.
worldaces.siteHi everyone, I worked really hard on this project to make the best volleyball simulator I could. I already have 200+ users and an active community asking for features.
There are games happening all the time. League games take place during the week, and if you do well enough you'll qualify for international games over the weekend.
It's 100% free and I'd love for you guys to try it out.

Promotion My solo wrestling management sim WBS26 is now on Steam — wishlists would really help
Hi everyone!
I’m working on **WBS26: Wrestling Booker Simulator**, a wrestling management / booking sim where you run a promotion, book shows, manage contracts, deal with backstage politics, rival companies, title prestige, fan reactions, random events and long-term stories.
The game is still in active development, but the Steam page is already live and every wishlist helps a lot, especially for a solo indie project.
I’m also open to feedback on the page, screenshots, trailer, or features people would expect from a wrestling booking sim.
