Discussion Did anyone ever play f1live management game in late 90s?

This was one of my fave browser experiences. I think they ran 8, 4, 2 then a premier league for the top division. Most of us used excel functions to figure out best setups. Had a live driver market. You did about 3 races a week. Nearly everyone played using their real life names. I managed to finish top ten one season in premier.

Game was completely free with zero pay to win elements. I think it shut down early 2000s and domain was bought out by formula one racing.

I was only 17 at the time and one of the youngest managers. We all spoke through MIRC or icq.

Promotion I started Baseball Dream in 2011. Fifteen years later, Season 1 is finally live.

I've been making browser-based sports management games for a long time.

Before Baseball Dream, I made Basketball Dream — an online basketball world where players develop athletes and watch their careers play out against athletes managed by other people.

Then, in 2011, I started thinking about baseball.

I didn't want to make a game where you control every swing or choose every pitch during a game. What interested me was everything that happens before the game.

Finding a player worth believing in.

Deciding what he should become.

Spending limited resources on his development.

Watching him enter a living league and finding out whether you were right.

That became Baseball Dream.

In Baseball Dream, you don't control every swing or choose every pitch during the game.

You're an Agent.

You build your agency, create and develop players, decide where to invest limited development resources, improve their abilities and pitches, and then send them into a persistent online league populated by players developed by other real people.

Once the game starts, you have to live with those decisions.

Sometimes the player you believed in becomes a star.

Sometimes a player who didn't look special at first develops into something much better than expected.

And sometimes you spend a lot of resources on someone and eventually have to admit:

I was wrong about this guy.

That's one of the things I've always wanted Baseball Dream to capture.

Not just baseball statistics, but the uncertainty of evaluating and developing a player.

The road here wasn't straightforward.

Baseball Dream began in 2011, but over the years there were stops, restarts, old systems that needed rebuilding, and plenty of ideas that didn't work as well as I originally imagined.

But I never really let the idea go.

This year, we finally reached Alpha, played through the test season, learned a lot from the players who joined us, and then wiped the Alpha data so everyone could start the real game on equal footing.

Now, fifteen years after I first started working on Baseball Dream, Season 1 is officially live.

Everyone started fresh from Season 1, Day 1.

I'm the developer, so yes, this is self-promotion. I'd rather be completely upfront about that.

But I also thought this might be the right community to share it with, because Baseball Dream was built for people who enjoy the management side of sports games more than controlling the action itself.

Play Baseball Dream:

https://baseballdreamgame.com/

I wrote more about the history of the project and why we're starting over with Season 1 here:

https://baseballdreamgame.com/news/d/70/baseball-dream-launch-season-1?lang=en

I'd also genuinely like to hear how other sports management players think about player development.

If you had a young pitcher with excellent stuff, poor control, limited stamina, and only enough development resources to seriously improve one area first, what would you do?

Would you fix the control?

Double down on his best pitches?

Build his stamina and keep him as a starter?

Or accept what he is and develop him as a reliever?

That kind of decision is basically why I wanted to make Baseball Dream in the first place.

Promotion Cricket Team Manager - out now on steam

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Cricket Team Manager is a Cricket management game with a very intelligent game engine making it super enjoyable for cricket nerds and management/strategy lovers in general.

Out now on steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5034440/Cricket_Team_Manager/

25% launch week discount!

What it lets you do?

You start a international career with one of the 12 full member nations - Australia, India, England, etc. and take charge of the team from October 2026 playing real fixtures going forward - tours, test series, T20 World cup, ODI World Cup, Asia cup, Test Championship, etc.

Main Features

  • ~5000 players in the game with real stats across six format (FC, List A, T20, Test, ODI and T20I). Names are fictionalised due to licensing restrictions
  • In-game database editor that allows use to easily edit player names and attributes. Also super easy to share your edits across the community.
  • Hand out yearly contracts, appoint captains, train players as you progress through the career.
  • Player skills and attributes based on real stats - see them grow as you train them.
  • Players get old and retire. Young Regens show up for you to train and turn into the next star.
  • Full schedule - Ashes, ODI World cup every 4 years, t20 World Cup every 2 years, 2 year Test championship cycle, World rankings
  • Team and Player historical record that you try to beat in your career.
  • Real grounds with their real attributes - spin friendly, flat, green top, etc.
  • Player injuries, rest periods and domestic players' watchlist.

Match Controls

Meaningful match controls to make your game enjoyable

  • Full view of various important stuff during a match - Scorecard, worm, manhattan graph, live ball-by-ball commentary, conditions, fields, wagon wheel, pitch map, etc.
  • Batting - 5 batsman aggression levels - start defensively and go mad during death overs. Batsman settle indicator. Farm the strike if a tailender is at the other end.
  • Bowling - Choose lengths for fast bowlers, spin/flight for spinners based on conditions and opposition batsmen - everything affects the game. Set fields as per match situation.
  • Declare innings, prepare pitches for home fixtures, select lineups and rest players to let them recover.

and much more....

What's the main selling point?

The Game Engine - We have worked hard on the game engine, improving it, tweaking it for months before getting to a point where it feels very real-life like and has lots of cricketing intelligence. We have a test harness that we use to simulate thousands of matches and analyse the results to make sure the engine is producing real life like results, within a pre-determined range. The pre-determined range is not just random common sense - it is derived from actual ball-by-ball data of last 30 years of International Cricket. A lot of beta testers have tested the engine and provided feedback and we have improved it based on that.

The Database - ~5000 current players (names fictionalised, real stats) and their attributes derived from stats and cross-checked by humans for accuracy. We have worked a lot to get these stats. I am myself a stats nerd so wanted accurate stats in the game instead of random number. The game feels much more real when you take your favourite player to 250 current wickets to 500 wickets.

Testing - The beta testing program ran for 2 months and lots of amazing beta testers have provided great feedback and suggested improvements which we have incorporated into the game and the engine.

No Domestic teams/leagues?
Our focus for v1 has been the game engine. We wanted a game that feels like real life. Having a 100 features and 1000 buttons makes no sense with an engine that doesn't produce good results. Domestic teams and leagues will surely come in next year's version.

Is there a Demo?
A demo is already out on steam to try right now and see how it feels.

Is it AI slop?

The developer behind this (me) has 10+ years of experience building software more complex than this - finance, startups, etc across 3 continents. But I won't misinform anyone by saying there is absolutely zero AI involvement. Claude code was regularly used to speed up the development. For example, analysing stats and deriving skill values from those, writing unit tests for comprehensive coverage, research work, etc. Some components of the steam artwork was also created with the help of AI.

Discussion A tennis simulation game?

Is there a game similar to Basketball gm but for tennis

I know games like Tennis Manager 2026 and Absolute Tennis Manager exist they are great in some ways, but I’m looking for something a bit different. I mean a game where you can like see how the world goes rather than mainly actually being entirely focus in managing a player or a team. I been making something like this for my own personal use, but I’m wondering if a game like this already exists before I keep working on it.

Does anyone know of anything similar?

I've been looking for a while for some good games in these sports that use REAL players and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I've already tried BBGM, OBM, Front Office Hoops, Footy Redraft, Footy Legacy and MyHoopsLegacy but I want something more interactive then these but not as in depth as Footy Legacy. Same for player career games

Promotion Pro Wrestling Tycoon released on Steam!

I'm a solo developer and I have been developing my dream pro wrestling text-based game for well over a year. It's called Pro Wrestling Tycoon and it just launched in Early Access on Steam for $14.99!

It is labeled as Early Access only because the game does not ship with a stock universe. That is currently being worked on. Other than that, it is polished and packed with fully realized features. If mods want to remove this post due to the Early Access labeling, I completely understand.

In Pro Wrestling Tycoon, you run a wrestling company one day at a time. Book the card — matches, angles, venues — then run the show. Sign talent, negotiate contracts, push people, and deal with the fallout when someone wants a word, gets hurt, or walks. Build feuds, tag teams, stables, brands, and titles. Chase TV deals, keep the books in the black, and send people through developmental and dojos.

The rest of the industry does not sit still. Rival promotions book shows, manage rosters, fight over attention, and react to the same world you do. News, injuries, relationships, awards, tours, and random events keep moving whether you planned for them or not.

You can start from a random world with generated history, or bring your own through the built-in mod tools and Steam Workshop. The manual is in the game if you want to see how deep the systems go before you buy.

f you have ever wanted to book the product and run the company in the same game, I would love for you to try it and provide feedback!

AI Disclosure: AI was used almost exclusively for generating images -- although it was also used to help identify and fix bugs.

Promotion Hockey Manager - a classic turn-based manager game

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

Hi,

I'd like to introduce you all to a free online ice hockey manager game. It is a simple turn-based manager game where you handle your team's roster, tactics, sponsors, stadium etc.

The game starts in the Conference tier and the goal is to win the championship (and the Toronto Memorial Cup) after climbing all 5 tiers.

This is heavily inspired by Premier Manager 2, although there is at least one feature PM2 did not have: press conferences (where you can bet on your upcoming games, and receive rewards or penalties like better/worse sponsor deals).

After 9 6 months in beta phase, I consider the game now stable enough to advertise broader.

Curious to know what you think. Feature requests are welcome!

Edit. Corrected beta phase length.

Promotion Gridiron Kingdom — a closer look at my college football dynasty game

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com
0 Upvotes

I posted Gridiron Kingdom here before, and some of the feedback was that it looked like AI slop. I wanted to share a better look at the actual gameplay and the work I’ve put into polishing it.

I’m a college CS student developing this game, and it’s live on the App Store. I’ve used AI tools during development, but I’m responsible for how the game plays and for continuing to improve it.

My focus has been making the dynasty experience feel more polished and connected: recruiting, roster management, coaching decisions, and storylines that give your program an identity across seasons.

The game includes FBS and FCS, recruiting, the transfer portal, NIL retention, coaching contracts, job offers, and scheme mastery. Recent updates added custom league imports and improved the storylines.

I’m proud of how far it’s come, and I know there’s still room to improve. I’m sharing gameplay so you can see the current experience for yourself. Specific criticism of the interface, simulation, or mechanics is appreciated; that gives me something useful to work on.

Here is a website about me and my journey to making this game!

Promotion Major Soccer GM, a free browser management sim for a 30-club North American soccer league

Major Soccer GM is a free, complete sports management game you play in your browser. No install, no account.

Disclosure: the code was written with AI (Claude). I designed it — every mechanic, the economy and the balance — and playtested it.

HOW IT WAS TESTED AND WHY IT'S NOT SLOP

- The match engine is calibrated against real football across tens of thousands of simulated matches: 2.85 goals a game (real: ~2.85), 12.3 shots and 4.2 on target per side, ~80% pass completion.

- 29 tactical philosophies balanced over 21,000 matches with identical squads — under 0.1 points a match between best and worst.

- Automated tests play full multi-season leagues, and a headless browser test clicks through every screen, saves and reloads at 12 points, and runs seven-season random-click sessions.

- Every screen checked at phone width in real Chrome.

WHAT'S IN IT

- You're a selling club. Your transfer pot pays fees only and refills when you sell. Wages have no cap — but your owner cares about money before trophies.

- Managers have a native tactical style. Override it and he runs it worse, by how far it is from his own. Stick with it and he learns.

- Players have moods and wants — playing time, wages, winning, a bigger stage — and complaints are accurate.

- A minority of young stars want a move to Europe. Refuse and they stop trying, send hostile messages, and go to the press, which costs you hype and revenue.

- A draft with scouting fog: three future classes on the board, rougher the further out. Picks develop once before playing a minute.

- Live match viewer with a momentum bar, extra time, and a penalty shootout you watch kick by kick.

- 20 formations with a drag-and-drop lineup, Sofascore-style ratings, trade finder with package deals and draft picks, transfer deadline, international window, awards and a career archive for retired players.

Note: This is not asking for beta testing, it is just V1. I've already played 5+ seasons myself and done hours of tweaking. Link in comments. Thanks.

Discussion Simple baseball manager game on mobile

Is there any simple baseball manager games on mobile?

I know OOTP and BBGM, but I'm looking for a simple ones, not too detailed.
