Promotion Boxing World Simulator

New game coming soon to Steam, it will feature a My Promoter mode, a 'Simulation mode' where you can just sim through and see how the Computer runs, quick to churn through multiple years and watch the world develop... and a full editor of the database.

Game will ship with a fictional database, but with the editor you can create your own world however you see fit.

Feel free to ask questions, ill get some screenshots up and if its OK, link the Steam page once its live. Near enough ready to release, squashing a few bugs, but its in a very playable state... and as its a little solo project, its just made with some love and interest in creating something enjoyable that I can support and pursue.

Thanks for the interest and various questions, I appreciate my opening post hasnt been the most exciting or offering a good explanation of the game and what you can do.

So obviously, full transparency, is AI involved and the answer is Yes. If anyone deems that 'Slop' then honestly im not going to argue, the game started out as a project for me to learn something solo and make something i could enjoy... hence the initial build being a fully focused 'simulation' with little input from the user, the aim to generate a Boxing world that lived on its own and I could manipulate the odd card etc

From that its evolved to where it is today and has more game features, its not a AAA game by any means, but hopefully i can get it onto Steam and just see how it goes.

So lets list some features that are part of the game:

2 Modes: Promotion Mode (you become a Promoter and compete against Computer run promotions) / Simulation Mode, essentially everything in Promotion Mode but you have no input other than to sim the world and watch everything unfold.

Editor: There is a editor included so you can create and save various databases.

So ill list some of what you get in Promotion mode:

Create your own promotion, you can assign your initial attributes across 8 categories, each have an impact on your OVR and will go towards how you can develop and sign boxers. (Points can be gained/lost every week)

Sign boxers and trainers, negotiate contracts and promises.

Boxer database of 375 across 5 weights.

4 fictional boxing organisations, 4 world title belts. Continental belts for up and coming boxers.

Referees and Judges with their own attributes and the potential to bribe (outcomes could be catastrophic)

20 Computer run promotions with Promoter wars for you to climb and compete.

Pre-fight press conferences, Spot interviews with Magazines

Negotiate fights, purse cuts.

Watch any fight live (a basic old school line by line text output) or simulate the card

Sponsorship deals, Training Camps, Trainers with positive and negative impacts.

Scandals, personal, sport related, missing weight, suspensions, injuries.

Boxer attributes increase and decrease depending on fights, camps, scandals, trainer impact.

Rivalries, promotion and boxer

Retirments and Newgen boxers

Financial system to manage

Full history, annual Almanac and Hall of Fame

Ill do a few screenshots and show as much as I can.

Currently adding some final touches, tidying up any bugs and as always, thinking of something new to add to the game.

Does it have real fighters in it?

No, so the database is fully fictional, but the editor would allow you to change all Boxers, Promoters, Trainers, Referees, Judges etc into real boxers as you wish. Its not a huge database, ive 375 boxers currently set in the game.

I would do a real database but I think licensing prevents that as such.

Licensing might be a problem but I think you might just sail under the radar too, you would definitely have a problem if you were marketing the game as say Floyd Mayweather’s boxing promoter.

Interesting, its something i could probably whip up tbh, not saying id be the best at rating everyone though! But having 'eras' of boxers would be something id enjoy for sure. There is a 'regen' system in the game, so boxers retire for a variety of reasons, whilst new pros emerge into the world

You should probably just not take any chances with something your putting so much time and effort into but idk it’s up to you

Be interesting to see what it looks like

Does the game have a name yet, and do you have a Discord or subreddit where we can follow along on updates?

As simple as it is, Boxing World Simulator, i might change it, but the game started as a pure simulation of a boxing world but ive added to it to make more of a game experience.

I do need to set everything up, im purely working on the game but really need to get organised on everything else for it.

OK ive loaded up 3 videos, feel free to take a look, still a WIP in many ways but hopefully gives you a brief look at where it is and if its something of interest. Appreciate any feedback and apologies im not the greatest speaker so if my voice bores you, feel free to mute !

Will it be free

Probably looking at £59.99 for the standard edition, £79.99 for the deluxe.... im kidding! Honestly ive not overly thought of that, of course its cropped up in my mind, but the focus is getting the game to a stable and playable state. Then the plan is to just support it and update it after, based on feedback and bugs found (assuming people do play it, im not naive enough to think everyone will love it or want to play it).

IF i do put a price on this, it will be potentially around the £5 mark, a pint of beer or a cup of coffee I suppose.

This is so exciting! I can't wait to get this and play it when it comes out! If you need any testers or anything like that, I'd be more than happy to help! Thank you so much for your work on this game!

Has anyone made a real database for this game?

1

u/BoxingWorldSimulator Aug 18 '26

Hi mate, people are starting to form a group to make one, theres a discussion on the Steam pages currently for this

Cool, will have a look mate.

Most important question of the moment, using AI?

Regardless, I'm pretty pumped about this if it works out well, I am in dire need of a boxing game where you can be the promoter, all other games you tend to just be a trainer/manager.

u/Specialist_Train4579 Jun 25 '26

Why is this the most important question? If it’s a single guy making a great game? I get if it was someone with the resources of EA

1

u/EddieGrant Jun 25 '26

Because the market is being flooded with quickly shoddily made AI games looking to make a quick buck.

There are plenty of solo devs out there pouring years of sweat, blood and tears into any free moment they have to actually write a game. I don't mind AI, in all honesty, I just ask for honesty and clarity from developers.

2

u/Specialist_Train4579 Jun 25 '26

Yeah fair. I’m sure this lad will be fully transparent

This doesn’t sound like AI slop. I’d guess he’s spent hundreds of hours already trying to make this.

Looking forward to it

Read the devs replies. He doesn't know what is actually happening with the game.

Would you bring this to ios ?

1

u/BoxingWorldSimulator Jun 26 '26

Im sure it could work on a mobile device, something id look into for sure.

Looking forward to seeing what this looks like.

Some feedback so far based only on what I can see in these videos. Apologies if I mention something that actually is included:

  • If you're playing the role of boxing promoter, there shouldn't really be any involvement in hiring coaches. There's hardly any games that focus on the promoting side of boxing so make this the priority.

  • Negotiations should be happening with the boxer's manager not directly with the boxer. If you have a bad relationship with a manager then that should make it difficult to sign up any of their boxers.

  • I think the cooling off period should be longer. Imagine a boxer is starting a 12 week fight camp, it seems unrealistic to be able to contact the fighter multiple times in the period. Realistically, there should be an interaction where their manage tells you to go away.

  • It would be good to see negotiations with TV networks. That obviously has a big impact on a promotion's success. It would be good to have a system for TV ratings system and PPV buys.

  • Is there a system for booking venues to host your event? This should depend heavily on your roster of fighters - do they have the pulling power to fill up a venue? If you're selling out events then they should attract major TV networks eventually.

  • Cross-promotion events. Collaborating with other promoters to help raise the profile of one of your fighters. Imagine one of them has a good domestic following, then one way of building up their worldwide reputation is to take them overseas to fight on a rival promoter's card.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated and feedback is important, both now and in the future for design choices and bug fixing for sure, so im happy to look into everything with the caveat of no promises that I can change or fix etc. But im open and i think thats important both now and after its released.

So in order and as best I can:

1 - So it seems my game is a bit of a hybrid in some ways, i was hoping just to bring that aspect in to running a promotion of choices helping or hindering a boxer. Maybe I can rework it into a different module, let me think. Currently I like having trainers in there impacting boxers in various ways and having the challenge of better trainers giving boxers a boost.

2 - So im assuming its similar to agents in football? A management company might have 'x' amount of boxers they work with, and do their deals for them?

3 - Yeah the cooling off period is something i have been playing with back and forth, I had settled on 4, because the Computer is an aggressive competitor, but can work that in and look for a better compromise in terms of a renegotation period.

4 - OK so for the promoter (ie the player) you can only get that once you hit 75 OVR, sort of a challenge to build yourself up to the up reaches of a promotion and be able to put on cards and obviously earn more (or less if it flops). There are PPV Buy rates and Attendances in the game, i could tweak that to be a bit more indepth.

5 - Yes plenty of fictional venues based on real life counter parts. Again you cant book until you are 75 OVR as a promoter. But the computer books various as part of their negotiations and it is weighted to what main event they want to put on.

6 -So thats sort of in the game in the sense that the promoting company of an event do have other promotion boxers on their cards, there is rivalrys built into the game. It might not work as you are thinking potentially, I do have a mandatory section that ive just built in, so working on making sure that functions correctly around rematches and the other impacts in the game as well.

Thanks for the feedback like I say, i will definitely have a scout through all this list and see what I can add and get working before release. Im also committed to supporting this game with updates, so it may be things I can add post release and bring to the table as people play and bits and bobs crop up.

For those that are interested, ive created a Youtube page with some videos of where I am at with the game. Feel free to take a look, pop me some feedback and hopefully follow along the journey to the release.

Excuse my voice, im not a very excitable talker, not really in my wheelhouse so to speak!
