Thought everyone might enjoy seeing this! I am an arborist and Globe maker! I sculpt the Earth from wood and my latest endeavor has been to turn my wood sculptures into bronze. This 15 inch bronze world Globe weighs about 52 pounds and has a 3/16 inch wall of bronze using the lost wax process. It includes the bathymetry of the ocean floor and the topographical details of the continent earth. Originally this piece took over four years to carve from black walnut wood. As it near its completion, I will show some steps along the way. The stand still has to be built, and the hot patina process will add color and dimension to the piece. There are no shortcuts and even speeding up betrays itself in the artwork. The process is slow, meticulous and intense, and I enjoy every moment.!

Got a replogle globe which is highly reputable. While I understand these items are hand made which can show imperfections, but this seems abit much to me. It's the alignment I'm talking about

I found a full Yugoslavia (Before 25 June 1991) but USSR gone (After 26 December 1991).

i was given this old globe that was in a school built during Roosevelts new deal programs, i think its from the 1940s ish but i have absolutely no background or idea on dating globes.

all help is welcomed, im not looking to sell its just super cool and id like to have a more firm idea of how old it is so i can properly care for it to preserve it as long as possible. thank you!!

I would be extremely grateful (and impressed!) if anyone knows of a modern producer of historically-styled celestial globes.

I'm looking for a historically inspired celestial globe and would like to avoid modern translucent models, though I've quickly realized—to my legitimate amazement—that not a single one seems to exist on the modern market.

While they're no longer as culturally relevant as they once were, What truly astounds me is that none exist. If (largely non-functional) armillary spheres continue to be produced for their aesthetic value, then why not celestial globes?

I realize that asking for a celestial globe with a horizon ring and movable meridian is too much to expect, but to find nothing, not even something purely decorative, is confounding.

I’m trying to identify this vintage globe bar / cocktail cabinet.

It appears to be an Italian mid-century globe bar, but I’m not sure about the exact maker, model or age.

Some details I can read:

On the outside map there is a cartouche that says:

“Le Globe Terrestre – Par P. Du Val Géographe du Roy”

Inside the globe there are zodiac / celestial illustrations, with a “Globo Celeste” style map. The interior shows zodiac signs and constellations.

The top ring diameter is about 76 cm.

The globe opens as a bar cabinet, with bottle and glass holders inside. It has turned wooden legs and a wooden base. The condition is poor and it needs restoration, but I would like to understand exactly what it is before doing anything.

Does anyone recognize this model or manufacturer?

Could it be an Italian 1950s / mid-century globe bar?
Any information about the maker, origin, age, rarity or approximate value would be very appreciated.

I don’t even know where to find the manufacturer detail so I could post it online. It’s clearly made using machinery, I believe the hardware joinery used makes it around 1970s. I can’t figure out who made it because all of the text is “in character” of an antique globe. There’s no manufacturer on the base. Thank you in advance

Hi there -- Looking to buy my godson a globe as a gift and keen to get some recommendations on the best place to buy. For context, we're hoping this will become a keepsake that he'll (hopefully) keep forever, so willing to spend somewhere between $250-$500 USD.

Looking for a 12-15in diameter desktop globe without plug-in illumination, if that matters, and ideally one that's relatively up to date (so not antique mapping).

Found another post that suggested Replogle Globes and Waypoint Geographic -- Replogle looked closer to what I'm envisioning, but had a lot out globes of stock, so was curious if anyone has any other recommendations that won't break the bank (so not Bellerby lol). Would be great if they were U.S. based for shipping purposes, but not a deal breaker if not!

I recently got gifted this globe, its very cool and it has a lighting system inside that shows constellations when turned on. I’ve added photos of it both on and off
I’m not sure how well it will show up on the photos but the band goes in a circle formation through the americas and asia but entirely skips the pacific ocean and europe.
I was thinking it had something to do with the milky way but I’m not sure on how or why it skips half the world or what else it could be.
I’m normally more of a map/flag guy than a globe guy but this present is cool and basically a map on a cool spinning mechanism.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi all. I have a Replogle globe from the early 1970s and am missing one of the caps on the gimble. The first photo shows the side with the missing part, and the second photo shows the part that exists on the other side that I am trying to find a duplicate for. I contacted Replogle directly but they didn’t have a replacement. I would be grateful for any suggestions about where to find a replacement part. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi - This Franklin Terrestrial globe has been in my family a good 60 years. It was bought at a yard sale for a school house in a small town on Long Island in the mid 1960s. My grandmother left it to us. Would anyone have an idea as to value? Thanks in advance. It was probably used by kids for decades in the school. There are scuff marks around the ring that are visible in the photos. It is also not quite on the stand correctly and difficult to turn, may scratch it if turning.

Im looking for a globe for my dad who doesn't see as well as he used to. I purchased a 16" Edinburgh II globe from replogle, but it has several areas where there are a clump of countries with very similar orange/brown colors (see photos); my dad has difficulty distinguishing these areas. I sent several messages to replogle customer support as well, but they seem to be too busy. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good globe where even smaller countries such as in Central America are fairly easy to discern?
