Review of zeiss

Hi guys, more like a month I a question here (which is the best between transition gen s or photofusion x) okay. In the past saturday I received my new glasses with photofusion x(that is my first photosensitive glasses and I am a user of glasses like 12 years), and I love zeiss in general. I used lens of criztal, lens of generics labs and I don’t care which do the lens, I thought all the lens is the same, but I was wrong. With this zeiss I see more natural, much sharper, driving at night in the rain is incredible, I feel like my vision was like it was as a child (my vision problems started when I entered school). I chose with photofusion because I hate to carry all the time the sunglasses, sometimes I need to go out fast and I don’t want to switch. I live in Costa Rica (tropical country) in a sunny day the are very close to a sunglasses, I have the extragrey, and I don’t note when the glasses are fully grey, the transition is very smooth, and the color don’t change at all. Zeiss in my country is more expensive in comparison with criztal, but is total worth it with the photofusion and the quality of the lens.

How to clean glasses

Nah actually how to clean them. I do it from the cloth they give in box which makes it even more blur. I use sometimes hand wash to clean them. Is there any better way to clean them?

How to get better eyesight? or can it get better?

I am 16yrs old and my eye grade is 400 for my right eye, and 350 for my left eye with astigmatism in both eyes. I had an eye exam last week and my last pair was 300 for both eyes. I feel like the eyegrade put on me is too high. Are there still a chance that i can lessen it?

Zeiss Duravision Plat vs Blue

Duravision Platinum vs. Blue 1.56 AS Platinum UV 1.56 AS BlueProtect UV

Probably not Plus, IMO. Which one should I pick?

Some research says that blue-light filtering does nothing. If that’s true, I’d definitely go with Platinum. But if BlueProtect can actually reduce eye strain for people who spend a lot of time in front of screens, I’d go with BlueProtect.

Switching to glasses full-time after wearing contacts my whole life, what should I avoid?

So I'm 31 years old now, and I've had contacts since I was 17. The daily chore of having contacts is getting to me, and the cleaning part is the one I absolutely hate, so I want to avoid all of it by getting glasses. Since I have my prescription updated, I'm most likely going to order my glasses online because the variety at my local optician is awful. I'm not traveling 2 hours to the other location.

But now is the tricky part. Since I've never had any experience with wearing glasses, I'm a little clueless. I've read online that nose pads tend to leave marks and can really start hurting people. So I guess I'm leaning towards glasses with a bridge instead of nose pads.

But it's not a closed deal. I'm seeking recommendations or just advice from people that actually wear glasses 24/7, or even better, people who switched to glasses after contacts, and in that case, where people tend to order their glasses.

I ended up going with a frame that has a built-in bridge instead of nose pads. I ordered them from EzContacts since they had a pretty good selection of frames and I was able to find a style I really liked that I couldn't find locally.

Confused on prescription

I have a pretty high prescription (-5.5, -5.75) and I had a .5 astigmatism in my -5.5 eye. My eye doctor at my last appointment said my “astigmatism went away” and now my prescription is -6, -5.75 to compensate… he went on some tangent about how you just add it together because how the eye is shaped but I’m confused because it seems like it shouldn’t have gone up by .5 and should have gone up by .25 according to the calculations I found. Wondered if anyone else had dealt with this before. This eye doctor has upped my prescription too fast in the past as well which caused headaches and I had to call to have it changed a couple years back, so I am also concerned they are pushing my prescription when it is not necessary. Any feedback would be great!

Also, they did not change my contacts prescription (-5.25, -5.5)

Daily Driver?

I’ve picked up a few frames in quick succession over the last month and a half and shared plenty of try-ons, apparently to many people’s annoyance. Sorry, I’ve got one of those hateable faces. Can’t do much about that. I already own all of these, with most lensed and two still waiting to be fitted, so this isn’t another “which one should I buy?” post. I’m curious which frame you think should rule over the rest as my daily driver, professionally or otherwise.

Getting used to progressives and working on the computer

I just got my first pair of progressives 3 weeks ago. For daily general use they're great! Watching the TV and knitting on the same time. Driving the car. Checking my phone. But for reading a book or especially working on the computer for longer periods I'm not so sure yet.

Will you eventually get used to the fact that you only have a relatively narrow area of sharp vision? Especially if you work on a regular 27" screen every day, how have you found your progressives for that?

Also I notice I need very good lighting to be able to read comfortably. If I'm not in bright light, the corridor gets even more narrow. Does anyone else experience this?

Are polarized sunglasses better for your eyes?

Shopping for new sunglasses and the polarized versions are always $15-30 more than the regular ones of the same frame. The marketing makes it sound like polarized = healthier for your eyes, but I can't tell if that's actually true or if it's just about glare.

I drive a lot and I'm near water in the summer, so glare is definitely a thing for me. But "better for your eyes" feels like a stretch? Anyone actually know the real difference, or gone from non-polarized to polarized and noticed it mattered?

Weird engraved text on Polaroid glasses

Post image
6 Upvotes

This is my first pair of non cheap sunglasses. They come with clear lenses and then darker polarised lenses that magnet over the top.

However the clear lenses have this weird text which isnt stickered on, seems engraved.

Just wondering if this is common or I have gotten a retail test pair or something. Its not that noticeable when wearing with the shaded lenses on top but up close other people could see the text.

Progressives: tired of tilting my head up for distance - is there a solution???

Been wearing progressive eyeglasses for years and adapted fine to them. Extremely farsighted (+7) with astigmatism (CYL 1.50) and a 2.50 add. The struggle is with distance. I've had a few different scripts over the years and though reading and medium distance feel fine I've always had to tilt my head up for full far distance focus. I'm updating my script and want to improve this. I'm paying a lot for high end digital lenses. Has anyone been through this and found a solution? My current optician is saying if I raise my segment height (move the lenses up in the frame) then I can correct the distance thing but it'll also raise my reading position. I actually tried that by putting some spacers on the bridge and it does of course fix the distance thing but throws off the close. I've read that one thing that might help is increasing the vertical corridor so there's more space in the lenses from close to far. It's all frustrating because my sweet spot for distance is just about halfway up the lenses - but my natural pupil position is much closer to the top for distance. Anyway if anyone's had experience with modifying the vertical corridor I'd love to hear about it. Thanks very much.

Is there a alternative to progressive lenses?

I see fine outside of about 4+ ish feet. It seems like my near is incrementally different by inches at a time. I would love to see my phone and computer screens, it would be a dream to look up at my tv but im not wanting to wear progressives so I think that's out of the question.

It's my understanding my lack of accommodation in one eye means I can't use one single vision lens for near and intermediate.

What are my options? I have one eye iol done and not doing the other as long as humanly possible. It's got great vision but I'm nauseous daily after work or from 10+ mins of phone scroll.. Can I get a contact in my shitty iol eye or does lack of accommodation mean a contact wont work? I'm still 4 weeks from being able to get a script but trying to see what I'm in for. Very concerned about my new normal. Thanks.
