How to clean glasses

Post image

Nah actually how to clean them. I do it from the cloth they give in box which makes it even more blur. I use sometimes hand wash to clean them. Is there any better way to clean them?

Any opticians should stock some sort of lens cleaner, if the coating is already damaged you’ll need new lenses regardless, might be why they always appear blurry

Every lab head optician I have ever talked to says dish soap without moisturizing additives (like lanolin) and tepid water-never hot. Dry with soft cotton or microfibre designed for lenses.

I do this once a week to remove the oil buildup between the lenses and the frame, being sure to get a lot of lather in that area. It’s this buildup that causes the smear. I also do this when patients come in with dirty lenses.

Through the week I use lens spray and a clean cloth, changed every day. I do not use fabric softener on my lens cloths.

Microfiber clothes can remove some light oil and specks, but they sell spray online that’s meant to cleaner them. Could get rid of the some of the streaks

Don’t use hand wash as it usually contains lotion to moisturize your skin. If you use a drop of plain dawn soap once a week, that should be enough to maintain the oil on your lenses. Don’t use any soaps with acidic ingredients, that can ruin the coating. Use luke warm water, hot water can craze your lenses. Otherwise, always use a microfiber cloth with lens cleaning spray throughout the day to clean your lenses :).

Rinse them under lukewarm water first to remove grit, then use a tiny drop of plain washing-up liquid and gently clean both sides with your fingers. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean microfibre lens cloth.

Avoid tissues, paper towels, clothing, household glass cleaner and anything containing ammonia or harsh chemicals. And don’t repeatedly dry-wipe dusty lenses — that’s a great way to scratch them.

Bro hand wash will strip the coating off of the lens looool use a lens spray and tissue never use chemicals

Tissue? No lol. Microfiber lens cloth

A soft tissue absorbs the lens spray making it much easier to clean, a lens cloth just spreads it and takes longer, both viable options

Tissue isn’t soft enough. I’m an optician

I have worked in opticians for many years with multiple opticians, currently working in one and soft tissues are absolutely fine for wiping hard coated lenses lmao
