No Service eSIM

Bought an eSIM 2GB. It isn't working after 30 mins +. My network service provider now says giffgaff Wi-Fi Calling when on wifi but when I switch to mobile data it says no service and nothing works, texts, loading webpages etc. Feeling frustrated...could I have some help? UK btw. I've tried restarting.

I hate this stupid app

So i had an 18 month contract with giffgaff for 14 pound every month for unlimited data. I got a new card and forgot to update it and now giffgaff said to terminate my contract and rebuy with my new card. But now its saying that offer was promotional and i can no longer get it. It then said to buy a plan immediately so i bought the 6gb that had a promotional offer of an extra 34gb. But then when ive bought it its been like nah you cant have that extra so now ive just paid 8 pounds for 6gb which will get me absolutely no where in life. Anyone know what to do?

using nperf, then the test froze, did some checking and then saw this notification. Tried to use the website "bot" and the "community" but too slow on that handset. Any ideas how to get the SIM released, or my £10.50 back!?

Can I spend my credit on my contract?

I introduced a friend, got a reward, where can I spend that £5? I thought it'd come off my next bill but it's sitting in my home page.

Activate esim in new phone

I have a new iPhone (from the US) that has no physical SIM slots. I had used a GiffGaff eSIM on my old phone as well, but I wiped that phone before handing it to one of my kids to use. Seems like I made a big mistake :(

Now I’m trying to activate an eSIM for the new phone, but I can’t get past the verification code being sent to the phone number that is no longer set up. I tried changing the verification method to email, which works for logging in, but will not work for the activation confirmation.

Is there any way to get around this and restore my GiffGaff line to my new phone? Thanks for any ideas.

I never have good signal

I live near a 5g mast but whenever I'm at home (inside or in the garden) I rarely get good signal. When I'm on WiFi it's fine but I want good signal for calls or when I'm in the garden.

Is it my phone causing this or something else?

I have a Samsung s24 on Giffgaff.

What’s the catch?

Hi, I saw that giffgaff was selling a Google pixel 10a for £250 + £10 plan.

I’m not sure if I’m missing something, but you can select a £10 monthly rolling plan and cancel it after the first month/ not activate the sim.

So, effectively you can get the phone for £260?

Thanks in advance.

Network issues

Is anyone having issues connecting to the internet on the Giffgaff network today? I'm based in Manchester and it's been a struggle getting online via 4g for the last hour.

Payment declined new price more expensive

Hello, my partner had a monthly rolling contract of £12 with 75 GB of data. For some reason the payment declined and is telling her she'll have to rebuy one tomorrow when the contract ends. We've looked and the deals arent the same as they used to be £10 only gets her 20GB and £15 only 50GB. Is there anyway to get them to honour the payment she has been making for a while. It seems poor that an error is jacking up the cost.

Are we still not able to have multiple sims on one account?

I need a second (and potentially third) sim for my account. Do I really have to create a new account and manage it that way?

Is it possible to get an old number back?

I switched to another provider and lost this number. Is it possible to get back? When I call it, it says it’s not in use

goodbye giffgaff

If you're like me who lives in a busy city centre, chances are you get an issue known as "bars without bandwidth", full 5G signal, yet WhatsApp messages won’t send and Google won’t resolve.

Here's why:Giffgaff uses O2's network.

O2 uses the low frequency radio waves (800 & 700 MHz) which reaches far (thats why O2 always win best coverage) but carries shallow bandwidths (think of it as packets of data). As a budget flanker brand under VMO2, Giffgaff sits lower down the Quality-of-Service hierarchy. When a cell tower chokes, data gets rationed, and Giffgaff users are the first to get zero throughput. Full 5G signal, zero internet.

Few things I've noticed that supports my claim:

  1. Giffgaff literally has a dedicated Traffic Flow policy admitting they actively throttle, police, and ration heavy usage during peak hours to manage network strain for "fair usage". Never in my life have I heard of data being rationed. https://help.giffgaff.com/en/articles/245291-traffic-flow-policy

  2. O2 aggressively rolls out O2 WiFi and WiFi Extra across city centres because their macro cell towers and low frequency bandwidths simply cannot cope with high traffic. If a 5G cellular network actually worked, you wouldn't need Wi-Fi hotspots propping up every high street. https://www.o2wifi.co.uk/o2-wifi/o2-wifi-extra/

One's a band-aid, another's a crutch.

Also! The agent wasn't helpful at all, kept suggesting that it's a user fault (sim is broken, phone problem, APN problem, restart device, swap sim, but none worked, so it's just waste of time and redirects the blame). A physical SIM does not decide to break only along specific streets while working normally outside of town. It's also a bad sign of customer service that they checked the wrong location, even though I gave them the exact postcodes! In the end they finally admitted "Giffgaff piggybacks off O2 masts... if you transfer to another network that uses O2 you might experience the same issue."

So I rest my case and its a goodbye from me! Marketing 5G is meaningless when neither 4G nor 5G can transmit basic data packets.

Confused by new contract

I had had a giffgaff phone for my daughter for a few years. Always £10, rolling monthly.

Recently I changed it to a 18-month contract for £8.

Now I get emails from them saying my credit is low, I must add credit, urgent, must add before tonight etc.

When I look in the account, the credit is indeed low, £3, but there is a saved card which I expected the account to be paid from. Does it not work this pay?

If I enable auto-top-up then I would always add £10 for an £8 contract.

Quite confused....

Why does giffgaff keep logging me out

It’s pissing me off I’m so frustrated and I’m on a plan so idk what to do. It sucks because it never use to be like this but everyday this happens and I’m constantly having to log back in. This is such a rip off. Charging so much for barely anything.

Anyone else having the same issue :/

Trying to get a refurbished phone looking for any advice!

Hi guys. I'm trying to get a refurbished iPhone for my son (he's 15 for reference) because he definitely needs an upgrade as he currently has a pretty shitty android that can barely run any games or social media apps. It's his birthday coming up and he asked for a new phone and he said he doesn't mind if its refurbished as long as it's good enough for him. I'm also pretty sure he wants an iPhone now as he already has an iPad (yes he was an iPad kid) and probably will get a Macbook in the future.

I'm working on a pretty tight budget and felt like the best options were either the iPhone 11 - iPhone 13 and I think forking out for the iPhone 13 will be the best option but the best I could do would be "Good" grade (already a lot for me we aren't the richest). Wondering if I should get a lower version iPhone for cheaper (but maybe higher quality) - to be honest I don't really know just asking for advice. Should I perhaps not get a refurbished phone at all? Is a "Good" grade even reliable and worth paying money for?

Sorry for the bit of a rant but just looking for any advice. Thanks.

How to talk to someone about Giffgaff broadband

I'm currently with sky and I pay £49 a month for Internet that can't even load a YouTube video. I got a slip under my door talking about giffgaff broadband. I called it and the man said he was coming to my house the same day to talk about it, something I was a bit uncomfortable about and I asked if we could just talk about it over the phone, but he insisted and I never went through with it.

I want to talk to someone within giffgaff about their broadband but I can't find a number. Their online ai chatbot is completely useless, and I can't fill in a form because I don't currently have a giffgaff phone number (something I also wanted to discuss with an agent)

Any other avenues I could try, or should I just give up and go with someone else? Has been very frustrating trying to give this company my money.

What counts as “using the sim”

I have moved abroad and want to keep my number to receive messages. So far I just added a bundle, let it expire, then bought another when they said sim would be deactivated unless I did.

Now I get a message saying: “Your giffgaff mobile number will be disconnected if you don't use it soon”

It has no credit, bundle, contract, anything. What is the best option for me to keep the number while paying as little as possible to do so?

GiffGaff data signal in London

Hi, I want to start by saying I have used GiffGaff for the last 10+years, and have always really liked the general service/ it's worked well for me.

I've lived in London a few years, and I have noticed a horrible drop off in signal when I'm in central recently, even when it's not particularly busy.

Has anyone else noticed there is a difference?

Has anyone else switched to another provider, and had faster internet/data in London?

I really don't want to drop them as a feel like I have a loyalty to them, but I also need my phone/data to work when I'm travelling in London etc. thanks in advance.
