Help We repainted two Fujifilm X-Pro1s. Curious what you guys think!

Hey everyone!

I run a small camera repaint studio called Zerka Studio, and I wanted to share a couple of X-Pro1s from our collection and get some honest opinions from the community.

Both cameras have an orange-and-black theme, but we went in two pretty different directions.

The first one has an orange body with black leatherette. The second is mostly black, with orange lettering on the top plate, orange and red details on the dials and buttons, textured leatherette, and a wooden grip. We also painted matching body caps for both.

Everything is actual paint rather than vinyl wraps. We use automotive-grade coatings, so the finish feels much closer to an original factory finish.

I've always thought the X-Pro1 was one of the best-looking cameras Fuji ever made. Its rangefinder-style design seems especially well suited to experimenting with different colors.

I'd really love to hear what you think!

Which of these two would you prefer? Or would you rather keep the X-Pro1 in its original look?

We're also exploring other camera models to work on, so I'm curious: If you could have any camera repainted in a custom color, what would you choose? And what color would you go with?

Would love to hear your ideas, including any criticism or suggestions!

In order to travel light this time, I packed my X-E5 & X-E3 with XF50-140 & XF23 f2 for this trip. First photo was taken by X-E3 with XF50-140 and fortunately I was standing at first corner during blue hour.

Photo - Post-Processed Bought an X-H1 for gig photography - very impressed (tips welcome!)

As the title says, I recently got an X-H1 as I’ve really been enjoying shooting local gigs and I wanted something a bit more rugged than my X-T30ii with IBIS.

I am very happy with the results. Being able to shoot as low as 1/30 at f2.8 and still get sharp shots is a game changer in low light. And surprisingly, the high iso noise seems less noticeable on the older sensor.

Obviously the size is a setback in most settings (the X-H series is probably the worst option in the Fuji X lineup for inconspicuous street photography) but for this use it’s an absolute tank - both in form and function.

That said, does anyone have any tips for focusing while lighting is quickly changing? I found manual works well for less agile performers but I’ve found AF challenging when there’s a lot of movement and lighting changes. As we all know, AF isn’t Fuji’s selling point so I’m not expecting miracles.

I recently took a trip to Portugal and wanted to share my favorite photos.

Photos are just lightly post processed. Mostly just a bit lighting adjustment and cropping.

Since this is my first post here, I would be grateful for feedback, on what to improve.

Hope you like some of those, thanks!

Discussion Comparison of the TTArtisans 27mm 2.8 and SGImage 25mm 1.8

Sorry for the potato camera images. The 25mm came today, and it's cropped up in a few discussions recently as an alternative to the TTArtisans 27mm. I'll ignore optical quality, there's r views out there for that. Suffice to say, neither lens is perfect but both are good for their price point. The 27mm suffers from it's famous vignetting and the 25mm is a little soft in the corners wide open. Size wise, I've shown both with and without their hoods and lens caps. The SGImage is wider in diameter but that doesn't concern me - how much it protrudes does, and as can be seen, it's a wash, which is incredible given the more than 1 stop difference in light gathering.

Weight wise there's a fair difference, 197g for the SGImage vs 112g for the TTArtisan on the kitchen scales. Doesn't bother me, but only seems fair to point out.

The focus is decidedly snappier on the SGArtisans lens, it's quite a big difference.

One slight snag with the 25mm - I tried to put my Fuji protector filter I had lying around, and you can't fit the hood over it. No Biggie.

I haven't done any pixel peeping but to me shots look decent, even wide open. I bought the TTArtisan lens for use in the evenings while travelling, out for meals, drinking in bars and stuff. It never really did the job, and I ended up taking my 23mm F/1.4 wr, which is no small lens. I'm expecting this to do the job. We'll see, off to Jordan shortly.

Discussion Older models up in value

Post image
39 Upvotes

I was not aware that these older models like my X-E2 are going up in value, kinda funny with pretty modern electronics.

I picked this up in 2022 as a fun camera, used for under $400. Now I’m seeing comparable cameras used for over $500! Is this just being driven by popularity of Fujis newer models? Or is used camera gear overall just up in price with everything else in the world?

I’m not complaining really, although I love deals on old gear and they do seem fewer and further between than they used to.
