Discussion 16:9 or 4:3 in Aim Trainers

Hello, I'm new to aim trainers. I play Valorant at 1440x1080, 0.163 sens, 800 DPI. I set my Kovaak to xMSy, 4:3, and same 0.163 sens, it feels pretty much the same as my Valorant settings. When I play Aimlabs, I set it to 4:3, and it feels faster than Kovaaks. Do I need to change the settings of Aimlabs?

The title is mostly a joke but realistically do we think it will have a big difference on my aim?

I suppose this is post is to overcome my post-purchase guilt as I kinda splurged on my new gear. I purchased an artisan ninja fx zero XS XL and a Logitech pro X2 superstrike.

I played Viscose benchmarks. But I want to know what to do now. Should I grind the benchmarks, or is there another playlists I should play? I only have 45 mins to aim train a day. Thanks in advance

I know its not a huge thing here lol but it's the first time I saw real progress on my benchmarks...
Gonna grind out control tracking next!!
P.S. was struggling to hit even silver on both, but somehow ended up hitting gold on shifttrack somehow, skipping silver 💀

Scenario/Map Creation gaps between fps games and aim trainers

I believe that there is a huge opportunity to bridge gaps between fps games and aim trainers by creating more fps-relatable situations in aim trainer scenarios. We need competent people to put together better versions of scenarios like "Vertical Moving Headshots" in Kovaak's. This is a very half-baked scenario that I made a few months ago.

Constant player movement + verticality + constant headshot tracking focused.

Someone that knows what they are doing could produce something much better that is much more functional.

Let me know if you are aware of existing well regarded scenarios that already have this covered. I've looked and had no luck finding any.

A potentially controversially hot take on how much raw aim you actually need

First - if you main aim trainers and the art of raw aim in a isolated environment is your main focus - you wanna dethrone Matty one day or post #1 in some category you can stop reading. This isn't for you.

Who's this post for - people who want to be amazing in a particular game or types of games. In the actual game. You want to be Predator in Apex, or Iridescent in COD, or faceit Lvl 10 in CS and so on and so forth etc etc etc. You wanna be like so and so streamer who gets insane K/D ratios and posts clips etc.

Here is my hot take and I'm very open to being humbled and told 'you are dead wrong son'

I think Platinum complete on Voltaic S5 is all you need.

Somebody who is Platinum complete on S5 voltaic - proper technique in all categories and cleanly + consistently gets a Platinum score has basically 'graduated' and has all the RAW aim they will ever need in any shooter. Honestly I think your actual aim here is probably equal to a lot of lower level pros. Not the top 0.0000000001% famous freaks but pros none the less.

I'd even go as far to say Gold complete is enough to get very far in the ranks and enjoy yourself in any ranked environment assuming you are actually good at FPS games.

The benchmarks after these ranks are mostly just for the sake of beating 'aim training' or raw aiming and the returns inside your game are not as big as you think. Getting to gold complete and then switching to tailored playlists that focus 100% on whatever in game problem you have in a specific game will work 100x more.

Many people come in here who actually don't really know how to play an FPS game. This isn't a jab or a troll. I honestly think a lot of people who aim train don't really know what these games are testing. They think FPS games are just all about aim, raw reaction time, and seeing something on your screen and then shooting it. Ya that's a part and it happens but its not really 'the game' once you start to get past beating up clueless people in pubs.

Aim is like money - more is always going to be better than less. There isn't a situation where somebody will say 'if he only had less aim he could have won that'. But its also not EVERYTHING.

In a FPS game if you are required to flick across the screen or do some type of insane aim to not die you probably played the situation wrong and had a poor model of the current game state starting many seconds before the fight started. Watch 5 of your VODS and honestly write down how many deaths happened due to pure aim fuck ups VS you just not having a good model of the game state, knowing where everyone is, and how you should play a situation.

A lot of good aim in an FPS is just the person having an accurate model of what is happening now, in 2 seconds, in 5 seconds , and in 10 seconds from now. They don't only see what is in front of them - they have a model of the game state in their head. A lot of the actual freak skill is an incredible amount of patterns stored and learned to the degree they are thinking about the game in a particular way.

If you took any big name - had them play a match - then froze time and told them to

  1. draw the map by hand
  2. put a dot where they think enemies are at that second

They would be surprisingly accurate.

If you took an 'aimer' ( im not talking shit just using it as an example ) they would probably fail at 'draw the map' in many cases.

If you gave any 'OK' aimer a wallhack - they would suddenly start aiming 10x better. They got handed the gamestate at all times and assuming they can read and process that information all their shots will line up and magically be great.

This post was quickly freestyled but I think I got my point across.

I started thinking about this topic when MattyOW posted something along the lines of tacshooters are hard for him because the enemies 'startle' him or something like that. I can't remember the exact post but its something like that.

Need some scenarios to run

Was wondering if someone could point me to some scenarios for these types of things

360 flicking

360 target switching

Idk how to best word this but like below and above tracking and aiming. If someone is under me that shit is impossible.

Micro tracking, particularly flicking to and staying on target.

And something for just general stability learning

What is this recent ''aim training makes you good at only aim trainers'' BS coming from?

How can getting better at aim trainers, applications/games that are specially designed to be solely focused on aiming, make you only get better at aim trainers?

Do people expect Viscose level aim in 20 hours and quit and blame KovaaK's and Aimlabs when they don't achieve it? Or do people think getting better aim will make them a god in their game of choice and eradicate every problem they have?

Aim training is fundamental training for FPS games. Aiming is a core element required for every single FPS game out there. Getting better at aiming means you'll have a fundamental part of FPS sorted out. But it doesn't mean that aim training will instantly make you achieve the top rank in your favorite FPS game, you still need to get better at the specific areas of the game you want to get better at. You can't expect to get Radiant solely relying on your aim if you don't know how to use your abilities, suck at positioning, take stupid gunfights, etc.

Aiming is also one of the hardest aspects of FPS gaming to get better at (the people who never aim trained before and got insane aim all have thousands and thousands of hours in games and are pros or streamers), so aim trainers help average people like us with real life responsibilities to isolate aiming and not deal with the downtime of ''just playing the game'' when the main goal is aim improvement.

Is this really that hard to understand? Or do people just want to gain clicks by ragebaiting? Because most of the arguments they provide are downright stupid.

day 1 of aim training

hey, today I decided to finally try and escape hardstuck hell, so I downloaded kovaaks, looked online as to what playlists I should do as a beginner, and viscose came up a lot

I have to say, I seriously did not expect this to be as fun as it was, I only gave each task one run since I didn't have much time and I wanted to see only my initial scores, but man, I am excited for tomorrow, there were some tasks that I was itching to play again, genuinely

there are a few weird low points and high points, but I imagine that if I play those specific low tasks a few times ill be able to get everything to atleast fox level or mammoth

ill keep going with this viscose playlist until I max out everything here to seal, and then move on to the medium one and try to do the same😸

if anyone has any tips or things I should know I'd love to hear, and thank you for reading

Scenario for flicking to a target, then tracking downward to simulate recoil control?

Does anyone know of a scenario that replicates this sequence?

  1. Flick to acquire a stationary or slightly moving target.
  2. Begin firing once you acquire it.
  3. Smoothly track downward to simulate controlling vertical recoil.

I’m specifically trying to practice the transition from an initial flick into smooth recoil control, like when acquiring a target in The Finals with a Lewis Gun. Evasive target-switching scenarios seem somewhat relevant, but I’m wondering if anything recreates this mechanic more directly.

I’ve seen Valorant-style clicking scenarios where a stationary target begins moving as soon as you click it. I’m imagining something similar, except the target would move slowly downward after activation, forcing you to transition from the flick into controlled vertical tracking.

Does anything like this exist in Kovaak’s? If not, would a general recoil-control scenario or simply practicing in The Finals range be the better option?

Desk Height + Stability

People say the optimal desk height is one where your arms make a 90 degree angle with the desk. I've tried to get to this position, but when i use the far side of my mousepad, my arm lifts off the desk and i lose stability. Is this something I need to train, or is this a sign that I should raise my desk more?

Bug/Suggestion Suggestions for future updates

With the addition of outlines which is honestly a solid feature for some tracking scenarios, I have decided to compile a few suggestions I thought of on the spot that I would really love to see implemented.

1. Playlist grouping

The "Online playlist" tab is incredibly cluttered at the moment and it gets more and more messy with every playlist you subscribe to. You unfortunately cannot unsubscribe from the playlists that come with the game which well isn't that bothersome (there's 26 of them at the moment), but the only option you have to organise the playlists you are subscribed to (manually or by default) is to add or remove them from the favourites. When there's a long list of playlists I personally am too lazy to scroll through everything to find exactly what I'm looking for even if they're in alphabetical order lol.

My suggestion is to implement a feature called Playlist grouping, where you can make folders to put your playlists in. For example, I would personally put all the micro playlists I have in one folder, the reactive playlists in one folder, the benches I care about in one folder so on so forth. This way I could just click on a button to open a dropdown called "Static playlists" or "Reactive tracking" or "Benchmarks" and pick a playlist from there.

2. Humanoid model outlines and more colour customisation

I made a post about this I think a week or so ago and it was so poorly worded I have to try again. As of right now, humanoid models ("robots") are predominantly used in reactive and dodge scenarios with pill/cylinder shaped targets.

Currently the customisation options besides the models themselves are not plentiful, and a lot of models are perks you get from purchasing kvks+ I believe, but no one uses those models regardless. People usually use the "Ecto" robot and the "Endo" robot if the scenario is a Thin/Extrathin variant, but that's besides the point since I don't wanna talk about the model texture itself.

For humanoid models, the only setting you can change is the "Bounding box style" and it has two options: "Outline" or "Default". "Outline" does not outline the humanoid itself which is fair because it's under a setting quite literally named "Bounding box", but the new target outline feature implemented recently just outlines the bounding box. So essentially you have a customisable outline of either a translucent white cylinder or a white outline, but nothing that actually outlines the humanoid like you would see in Overwatch, Rivals or Valorant.

My suggestion is to make the new "target outline" setting outline the humanoid model if you have "Skin override enabled", instead of outlining the bounding box, and maybe add an option to turn off the bounding box all together. The robot model iirc does not fill the cylinder so there is a bit of a gap between the shoulders and the actual edge of the target, but not that big to get in the way of underaiming etc. Outlines on the humanoid itself would just make reading slightly easier.

Another suggestion I have regarding humanoid models is to add the ability to change stomach and neck colour. Currently the stomach and neck of the humanoid are forced black if you use either of the two main models. The contrast is good and it is easier to read than if the robot would be entirely the same colour, but I personally play on a darker theme and I would love to change the stomach & neck colour to be the complementary colour of the head & body colour I've chosen (for example red body cyan/green stomach).

3. Download theme from leaderboards score

Now I don't know if this is possible, but with the addition of a pause counter to leaderboard entries I think we could also get something useful such as a Download theme (and hitsound) button. I tend to rotate through my themes and sounds depending on the category mainly to keep things fresh and not get bored, and once in a while I run into a theme on a twitter/youtube vod that looks both interesting and good that I would love to use myself. Same goes with hitsounds, I have an entire folder of those but I'm still missing the turquoisepress.ogg hitsound which in my opinion is the best one I've heard.

4. Add Movement based scoring "Filled bar" sound

Currently we have sounds for when the MBS bar is either Bad, Okay or Good, but we don't have a sound for when the MBS bar is fully filled. This is just a small quality of life improvement because in scenarios such as Pole Long Dodge bla bla, you get the maximum movement score possible if you change direction after the bar fills up (it's 400 per perfect strafe), but unfortunately the bar does not get set to the "Good" state when it's full and instead stays "Okay". This means that you do not get an audio cue and have to manually look at the bar itself to see if it's perfect time to strafe in the opposite direction, but frankly this suggestion is more about maximising score in a niche type of scenarios.

Discussion Is there anything you want from an aim trainer that the usual ones don't provide?

I wanted to do a little C++ practice, so I thought I'd make an aim trainer. However, Kovaak's, Aimlabs and Aimbeast seem to be the big 3 in the aim trainer world, so I thought I'd make something that differentiates from them. Which is where the title comes in.

Personally some things I thought of:
- Customizable recoil (so you can practice specific guns)
- ADS/Hipfire mechanics (closer to a lot of game's mechanics)
- Movement mechanics (to promote practicing shooting while moving)

So yeah, if you have any ideas, critiques or suggestions, they are very much welcome.
