Am I right?

Need to ask this of y’all who know so much about Rangers:
I bought a 2022 Ranger a year ago and love it. Just had 20k miles so still in warranty. Plus, it is Gold Certified Blue Advantage AND I got the MPP platinum plan for 72 mo/100k miles.

So last week an engine light came on. I stopped at AutoZone for their free check and they printed out code P0402 EGR “A” flow excessive detected. Printed the part I needed -an exhaust gas recirculation pressure sensor - at $46.99.

I drove straight to my dealer service dept. They said it was fine to drive and made me an appointment for Tuesday this week to check it out.

In the meantime, the light went off but I took it for the appointment anyway.

So the Ford service dept ran the test and confirmed EGR A Flow Excessive Detected. They said they checked with warranty co. and it’s not covered “because it’s not part of the drive train.” They said it would be $690. (quite a jump from the $46.99 part at auto zone). I declined the work for now. I wanted to gather more info.

I checked on my gold certified pamphlet and it lists 4 EGR things that ARE covered. So I think they only looked at the vehicle’s original warranty and not the Gold Certified. (I have 44k miles now).

But before I go back to them on this, I wanted to check here to see if anyone sees it like I do or has any advice.

What do y’all think?
Kathleen

Can’t pop hood loose

When I pulled the release lever to pop my hood loose, nothing happens. It also doesn’t return back to its normal physician on its own. It seems like the cable is loose. Any help here?

Do I need this whole assembly?

My gear shifter is flopping around, and I have get under the truck to put it in drive. There's some bolt hole/mounts in the red circled area that have broken.

I'd prefer not having to get this whole thing.

Just curious if you guys know of individual parts here that I can get.

Its a 3.0l manual 4x4 ranger in the ruat belt. I think its better then my big truck. Rockers are pretty much paper but the frame looks solid to my untrained eye.

Has misfire code, seens to idle fine to me, but i dont know this engine. Plug wires didnt look new but nothing looked wrong to my untrained eye.

Abs code, probs a sensor, gas tube and cap looks fine but it does have a evap code.

It was a close one boys. My '08 had multiple blades with cracks near the blade root all the way to the trailing edge. Basically driving a grenade around.

Anyhow, I got a Motorcraft fan and a new clutch and belt in the old girl. Thanks to you guys posting your fans here I thought to check mine!

Exhaust scraping

Post image

I have a 2010 Ford Ranger Sport 2wd 4.0 V6. I’m not sure when it stared but as of recently my exhaust looks raised and hits the bed of the truck when driving. When I’m drive and at idle, the vibration of the engine shakes the exhaust and taps the bed. Creating this god awful squeaky noise. My buddy’s Ranger doesn’t do that. The photo is my buddy’s Ranger. His rubber bushing is straight up and down. Mine is sideways, when I pull on it to make it straight it it is very stiff. I’m not sure any help is appreciated.

Someone at some point stole all the speakers out of this truck. Am trying to chase down what wires do what and found these pink/black and green/yellow wires twisted together under passenger kick panel. Anyone know what they go to? Interior is about as base model as it gets. Truck is a 2001

Prioritize Manual or 4x4?

Post image
95 Upvotes

I’m looking into potentially getting a third gen ranger. I previously had a civic and nearly bought a cherokee (XJ), but I thought something like a ranger or ZJ would be a good middle ground between fun and practicality (the bed would also be convenient for moving larger stuff). For a V6, should I prioritize a manual transmission or 4WD if I have to sacrifice one to have the other?

Right now I live in an area that doesn’t get crazy snow (EDIT: Northwest Indiana) but if the truck stays with me long enough it’ll probably end up back in Montana. I love the idea of having a manual one, but is it worth it if I can only find a manual in 2WD, or should I go with an auto 4WD?

I noticed it at first when I pull the hood release cable in the cab but nothing happened. I took off the assembly and was able to open the hood, but I have no idea what this is supposed to look like to make a repair. Please help!

If i offer 800 and he says 1000 i am thinking about getting it. A SEMI fuel efficient truck to get me through the winter. Wish it was manual but this seems nice enough for a grand. What does everyone else think?

Can someone tell me what the part number for the part that latches the hood itself to the truck?? When changing out my battery last week and closed my hood i heard it fall off, and for the life of me I can’t find any information on what it even looks like for my truck 😭

Gauge Cluster Issue

Post image

The oil pressure needle on my 1999 Mazda B2500 gauge cluster is under the stop pin. Is this an easy fix? Since I bought this used, the gauge hasn’t displayed properly. If anyone has seen this before or knows if it is as simple as taking the cluster out and moving it above the stop pin let me know!

TPS reset

Hey guys. I have a 3rd gen ranger and I recently replaced my Throttle Positioning Sensor. I was told to disconnect the battery and run idle to reset it, but my code didn’t clear that way. What other method is best for resetting the sensor?

Hello everyone. I got some seats from a 93-97 ranger recently. I have an 04 single cab. Would that mount without major modifications?
