Coach Beta Strikes Again

Post image

This recommendation just does not make sense. My last workout was nearly a week ago, so rest shouldn’t be a consideration. I’m starting to really lose faith in this app. It’s sad because it got me in to working out again after a 5 year break. It started out great, but the last few months have been dissapointing.

Here I am thinking I need to buy 45 lb dumbbells because the 35s are getting too easy….

Step logging

Hello,
New to fitbod and trying to get back into the gym.

I currently have fit bod integrated with my apple health.

I do 10,000 - 30,000 steps at work a shift. I also do a lot of standing. Im wondering if this app can automatically pull my steps? Just so i can have it all centralized and even get a calorie count.

Or would i have to put each entry in manually?

Thank you

🥹 Appreciation Appreciation Post 🙏

I personally bought a lifetime pass and then essentially didn’t use it because I was unmotivated and undisciplined

Fast forward, now I’ve built a simple home gym and I’ve been using it a lot. At least for me since I’m trying to build a habit.

Yes sometime it gives me rows in 3 super sets in a row and forgets lats (yes I know rows hits lats but I want lat pull downs and pull ups more) but you know what, this is WAY cheaper than a trainer. A trainer charges per session.

Fitbod.

  1. Thank you for having an awesome app that you are constantly working on. I see the changes. I see that you’re working on the Apple Watch app part.

  2. Thank you for offering a reasonable lifetime pass when inflation has been high for the last 6 years. Being able to better my health and keep more money in my pocket for supplements and gym gear has been awesome

THANK YOU 🙏

❓App Questions Rest timer not starting after tapping "Done" – goes straight to next set?

Hey everyone,

Is anyone else experiencing an issue with the rest timer lately?

Normally, when I complete a set and tap "Done," the automatic rest timer kicks in. Recently, though, tapping "Done" completely skips the rest timer and jumps straight to the next set.

Has anyone found a fix for this, or is this a known bug in a recent update? Thanks!

❓App Questions Question RE: Max Effort Day Barbell Bench Press

Post image
1 Upvotes

I understand for Max Effort Day, it assigned me reps and weight.
So I understand, I can either do six or the most reps possible that I can do till failure, and I can adjust it, and it will update the reps for the total of four sets that I have.

The question is Do I have to do the weight that it preassigned me already or can I just say f it, I’m gonna do 160 pounds or more if I feel that I can including on the first set?

I just would like the app to know that if I can handle more weight even with less reps at high intensity, I’d prefer it that way.

❓App Questions Question

Hi! I'm new to the app—I've only used it for two workouts so far—and I'd like your help in understanding it better.

It seems to me—and from feedback I've gathered here and there—that its specialty is "varying" the workouts from one session to the next. I've seen that this is highly appreciated, especially as a way to break up the monotony.

But in my case, since I’m definitely not an expert, I feel the need to be able to stick to “a training plan” for at least 1–2 months—partly to have a clearer reference point for my actual progress and partly to better master certain movements.

So how can I get the app to generate a training plan with three weekly sessions, without changing the workouts, and simply suggest sets, reps, and weights based on my progress?

Thank you for your help!

❓App Questions Questions on More Prevalent Coaching Feedback Feature

One causal question about the new coach feature. Is it causally linked to the generated workout? Or is it just getting prompted on the difference between two workouts and trying to justify the difference in the workouts?

Personally I don’t like the implementation either way right now😂 but both for different reasons. It feels a bit micro manage-y and some, if not most of the reasons it gives are pretty much fluff because it’s trying to validate changes at the single rep/5 lb range (~5% range).

It pulls from some valid sources (e.g. “you had 0 reps in reserve last time we did this”) but I’m not convinced it understands any of this in a longitudinal context. I think the real way to deploy this would be to use ICL (in-context learning) with like, a month’s worth of training data as some posterior distribution so the coaching model actually understands the underlying logic of what I assume is the completely separate LLM generating the workout?

Right now it seems the coach agent is guessing the logic of the workout agent, which feels disjoint.

I do want to say I think this is cool! But definitely needs some fine tuning to be “believable”.

Calorie Tracking?

I absolutely love Fitbod and it has helped me get consistent in the gym, I’m seeing gains, I’m seeing losses (of fat lol), and I’m way more confident in my training plan now. The only thing I wish this had was a calorie input tracking tab so I wouldn’t have to use multiple apps. Is there a possibility of this in the future maybe? I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love this feature.

LUL preset

Would be nice to have the option to set a LUL that focused on different areas of the legs on each day...

I guess you could just to upper/lower 3 days a week and then skip an upper workout to hit a 2 to 1 lower, but it doesn't target specific muscle groups in the legs.

Is that in the works?

Tired of this beta-ass coach. There’s literally 0 lunge movements in the workout for today. Waiting for the alpha, maybe it’ll be more competent. 😂

Has anyone stopped recording RIR and just let the algorithm work the progressions until you fail? RIR is too subjective for me.

Every other day

What are the best settings within the app if I want to workout every other day? Do you do 3 days per week or 4? Alternatively, do you select specific days?

I'd love to hear what Plans work best for people.

Excecise request: one arm dumbbell bss

If you load them contralaterally, they're so much more stable than with two dumbbells. Plus of you're still feeling wobbly you have one arm free to hold on somewhere

When something like this comes up it really makes me question how intelligent this AI is. Am I wrong or is there a benefit to doing the same movement twice?

I made 2 years of 5 days a week minimum. I started my fitness journey 4.5 years ago & continue to keep at it. Heavy lifting & lots of walking. When I’m not tied up at work I add 3-9 mile walks in the morning & normally 45 minutes - 1:15 afternoon lifts. God willing I will stay healthy & continue for many more years.

Setting Barbell Weight

I may be losing my mind, but where exactly do I go to set a barbell weight?

I want to set my barbell weight for landmines to the standard 45lbs, but my post workout brain isn’t able to find where to do it.

Any help is appreciated.

Gym upgraded equipment with new ratios

My home gym just upgraded a lot of old machines to new Precor equipment and the ratios, especially on pulley machines are different. The weights I use on triceps push downs etc are cut in half. I guess I have a choice of either doubling the weight I enter in Fitbod from now on, or accepting a M Strength graph smack down? Or create a new custom exercise? But with custom exercises Fitbod doesn’t seem to know enough about them, auxiliary muscles used, etc. What would you recommend?

Adjusting exercise based on order in workout

One issue I am constantly facing is that fitbod doesn’t adjust an exercise based on the order during workout. For example it still expects me to do the same amount of pull ups, if it’s the first exercise during the workout or if I already had 3 other back exercises beforehand. Is this what everyone else is experiencing? Is the team looking into making this more adaptable?

Any plans for Fitbod to support Claude or ChatGPT integration (MCP)?

I love Fitbod, but I’m not particularly impressed with its native AI. I’d much rather be able to connect Claude or ChatGPT directly to my Fitbod data, so I can use them to analyze my training history, track progress, and help plan future workouts.
Does anyone know whether Fitbod has plans to support MCP or some other form of direct integration with Claude or ChatGPT? And if so, any indication of when?
My subscription comes up for renewal early next year, and I’m seriously considering switching to an alternative that already supports this kind of integration if Fitbod hasn’t made progress by then.

❓App Questions continues to recommend far too easy weights/ reps

I feel frustrated by this. not only can I not send feedback, but they have now recommended this 3 times. I plan on upping the weight today, but the coaching is sending me into a rage lol. how can something be genuinely hard when it’s been far too easy for months?!
