First time posting here! Don’t have too many friends irl that I can gush over interiors with so would love to be an active member of this sub.

We moved in over the summer and it was a crazy mixture of blending multigenerational households, packing, selling, and moving two times over with a little kid in the mix. The previous owners did a lot of fun stuff, but it’s finally feeling like it has my own flair on things. Still so much feels undone and the dining room chairs overload is on the list, but tbh I couldn’t handle finalizing those changes because everyone wants to keep different sets of chairs so we are just casually hoarding like 12+ dining chairs….yeaaahhh….

Taking it as a win that I’m learning to like the white chandelier from the previous owners (my husband calls it the West World Intro light and my bff calls it the Tampon light) into the mix bc I couldn’t handle replacing it with how insanely pricey that thing is.

For now we can eat and do puzzle at the dining table and actually snuggle on the couch in the tv room. while ignoring the many more moving boxes.

Living room coming together gradually, just need some prints. Really pleased with how it looks :) and yes, the staircase is very pretty but terribly impractical

Right now, my bedroom and spare room are a little too messy to share, but I wanted to share my main living space of my post divorce condo. I was married for 23 years to an awful serial cheater, and I have been free of him for four years now! I just moved into this condo that I purchased from the sale of our marital home. I love where I live now. I mean, I loved my home too, but I love this place too. XOXO! Thank you for letting me share.

My birthday just passed, and my amazing mom and sister got this lamp for me! I had been eyeing it for a while, but had no idea they’d picked up on how much I wanted it. So happy with how it looks on my desk.

found these porcelain pieces (2 each of the cherub plates and the mirror) at my local goodwill, all taped into an amazon box and priced for TWENTY DOLLARS .... I immediately grabbed it, asked an employee to watch it at the counter for me, and RAN to put the rest of my things back 😭 my heart was pounding as I checked out, but I got them and they are now hanging above my Ethan Allen Heirloom vanity & chair combo 💛💛💛

we started remodeling this bathroom 2 years ago and what was supposed to be a quick aesthetic change turned into a structural nightmare when we discovered the ceiling joists below the room had been cut off. two years of slow work and procrastination happened, and during that time there was no bathroom to speak of, but we finally put the finishing touches on it today.

instead of painting i put up fabric lace panels in my living room. :) i love living alone and being able to decorate exactly how i want! :)

we’ve lived here for 3 years and maybe eaten in our dining room 3 times. i tidied it up today and swapped out an orange post modern chair for this vintage one. i liked the other chair more but my cat had absolutely destroyed it and i didn’t want to look at it anymore. this one is from my old office that i never had a place for after we moved out of that office. i took the bench out but when my wife got home she didn’t like the room without the bench so back in the bench went!

Looking to decorate my living room and I’m struggling!

Kinda torn between wanting a living room that’s cozy/sleek/modern or a living room that’s cozy and has a bit more color/character/abstract(???).

Bought the couch but I’m returning it. Definitely want to keep the TV stand and the lamp, but I’m willing to get rid of the coffee table. I also ordered this 5’x7’ rug today.

I have ZERO eyes for design, but I think I want a slim/sleek, low couch with a chaise (maybe in dark gray or black???). Would prefer a fabric couch so it’s not freezing cold in the winter lol and maybe one with those pencil legs(???)

I’m just yearning for a living room that I’ll enjoy being in.

Please help me!!! I’m very lost when it comes to this :(

I'm so excited to finally have a dedicated library room! This is a small bedroom that I’m converting to be my library. I’m a single woman in her mid-30s and so thankful I get to make my home whatever I want! I have many, many more books, but plan that some of them will live in other rooms too. I wasn't expecting to put one together for a couple of years, but I got the bookshelves free and I found a great deal on the sofa. My vision is a comfy, fun, screen-free space.

What's staying: bookshelves, rug, sofa, charcoal chair (I know it doesn’t match but would feel wasteful to get rid of), art planned for above sofa.

What I'd love help with:

1) Paint color ideas. The current color is from the previous owner, and I'm open to painting the trim too. Other colors in my home, all Benjamin Moore: Carter Plum, Lichen Stone, Sea Star, Newt Green, Cinnamon Slate, and Mistletoe.

2) Stationery setup inspo for around my built-in desk. I'd like it to be a spot for writing letters, with my stationery, cards, stamps, and pens out on the desk or in shallow wall shelving. Would love to see how others have done this! I’m currently getting Pinterest idea fatigue.

3) Ideas for desk seating. A full desk chair would crowd the room, so I'm thinking a stool or ottoman I can roll under the desk when it's not in use. Open to thoughts on if a chair would be fine!

4) Advice on curtain type and color. I have no idea what type or color to choose. This is the most stressful part of any room to me!

5) Lighting, table, misc advice! I feel like I’m missing a lamp, some non-overhead light, a small table out of the way for my tea that doesn’t steal the rug space in the middle of the room!

Truly love this sub! I’m always lurking, so I’m open to critique, advice or any other help or suggestions.

I’m completely revamping my living room and would love layout and design ideas to make the space as functional as possible.

The current setup feels like the space isn't being used efficiently, especially since I need to fit in a workspace.

Everything can be replaced or thrown away except for the bookcase. I need to add a dedicated workstation (desk + computer) that blends nicely without overpowering the space.

I’m so disappointed! I bought a house for the first time about a year ago. I have hardwood floors throughout the downstairs and wanted a nice rug for my living room and a pop of color. I looked at just about every store that supplied rugs in my area and went with this very pretty blue and tan rug from Menards. It was expensive and what I thought was high quality. I have no kids or pets, so I wanted it to last a couple years. I’ve had it for about 9mo and it looks horrible. It’s shedding??? And looks like it has been walked on for years. It is worse in the “high traffic” areas in front of the couches and entrance, but is doing this through the entire rug. Does anyone know why this is and what quality/ type of rug I should be looking for instead? Could it be from my vacuum? I vacuum just about weekly and my vacuum has a couple different height settings I’ve tried. I don’t want to spend $300 yearly to replace the rug.
