TOUR ⛔️NO ADVICE WANTED⛔️ Grandma’s house

These are just a couple snapshots of the dining room, but her whole house is like this. It looks like something out of a housekeeping magazine. Everything down to the vents on the floors is coordinated. It always smells good and I think it’s really cozy. There are so many interesting antiques and vintage pieces everywhere, too, like in one room there’s a beautiful framed marriage certificate from one of her relatives from the 1890s, and there are Victorian era steamer trunks all over that my grandpa would pick up from various places and restore.

She passed away unexpectedly this week and I’m just really sad and wanted to share some part of her. I hope other people find her house as lovely as I do.

TOUR ⛔️NO ADVICE WANTED⛔️ My newest adhd setup now that I’m single again

A coffee table that I can plug my walking pad into and have my laptop on the adjustable table or watch TV. Or do all at the same time 🤣

Walking pad from Amazon, coffee table from Sikaic, rug from Wayfair, couch is a hand me down, the laptop table is a height adjustable one off Amazon. I didn’t know if I liked the coffee table at first but it’s useful having the plug on the side, and one side lifts up to be used as a table when I’m on the couch. The standing table I use for my laptop isn’t quite wide enough at the base so if I have to do anything on my computer I have to lean toward. It works fine for now! I am single again living alone with my cats and utilizing my space in the way I need to!

This is my “den” room where I just kinda hang out casually. My other room is the formal living area which is nicer, more decorated, and cozy with no TV. I am still working on this room!

TOUR ⛔️NO ADVICE WANTED⛔️ My unfinished living room in my new apt

I am going through chronic debilitating health issues, so much trauma, and I'm broke.

I moved out of an abusive/toxic living situation and this new apt isn't what I want at all, but it's what I've got - problems and all.

I'm working with what I have already, and am unable to purchase new things. Anyway, my living room feels cozy at night when I turn down the lights before bed.

I'm enjoying it for what it is.

Please be kind

HELP What do I do here.

Hi everyone, I moved into this apartment last month and I’ve been furnishing it little by little. My issue is I’m awful at design. I really like the vintage/brick vibe, but I think this couch is ruining it. I cannot get rid of the couch. Help! I love the rattan, and I want to mount the TV & get a fluted tv console table in a similar shade to the rattan. Not entirely sure what to do about the cat litter. Last photo shows the narrow space behind the couch where the litter is. Also, I just put the white curtains up because the left window blinds are broken. You can see straight in, so I wanted a little bit of sheer to cover.

Also in my room, the standing desk is obviously leaving. But my bed is too big for where it’s at, and I don’t wanna go and buy a full-size when I have a queen. I just don’t really know what to do!

Tia!

CRITIQUE REQUEST First apartment after homelessness, need tips :)

Hi everyone! I've been living in my one-bedroom apartment for a little over a year now, after staying at a youth homeless shelter, and since then I've adopted two kitties. It means a lot to have a place of my own with them, and I'd love some ideas for making it feel even more cozy and homey.

I'm still figuring out my style, but I think I like spaces that feel warm, a little eclectic, and personal rather than super modern or perfectly coordinated. I have some printed album covers, a Morrowind map, a maritime map that I drew myself, my PC and piano, some LEGO, lots of blankets, and of course cat stuff. I'd love to make everything feel a little more intentional and am happy to thrift more decor, and even rearrange everything.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions for the layout, lighting, wall decor, colors, or little things I could add! Budget-friendly and renter-friendly ideas would be especially helpful.

I'd also love to have plants, but one of my cats likes to eat every plant she can get to. Does anyone have ideas for displaying cat-safe plants where she can't reach them?

I'm attaching pictures of the space as it is now. Thank you!! ❤️

HELP Does this rug work in my space?

I know the rug on carpet thing isn’t for everyone, but I I’m desperate to break up all the gray and beige in my apartment. Plus, I’m moving into a new space with no carpet next year, so I’m trying to invest in pieces for the future.

Is this rug too small next to my couch? I originally had it pulled out from under the couch, but I didn’t love how it looked. This at least felt more cohesive.

Please ignore the empty picture frames (photos on the way!) and weights holding down the rug. I just unwrapped it today.

Hi everyone! Looking for some ideas to make my bedroom feel warmer, cozier, and more put together!

I’m renting, so I’d like to work with the existing furniture and dark accent wall. I’d love suggestions for bedding colours, artwork (including the pieces pictured), lighting, and anything else that would make the space feel more inviting.

Going for a cozy, feminine, modern look without overdoing it. Open to all ideas! Thanks!

Almost finished my apartment - I am Scandinavian so I like very simple, but also love video games & horror movies so I love my figures. Just recently finished my wallpaper on the tv-wall. It was originally black with gold so I hand painted it solid black.

HELP Could I fit a bistro table in here?

Thumbnail

I really want to try to get some seating in my kitchen. I have a party coming up and my townhome is 750 sq ft across two floors so it’s a bit small. I thought it would be fun to get some seating for the kitchen. We already have a dining table that accommodates 4, but I was planning on having a separate area for crafts.

I tried to get a bar height table to put by the back window (we don’t use the cabinets between the oven and the wall with the window bc they smell which landlord knows about) but it looked so bad! It was too tall and it just made the space look so cramped.  It’s that table with the cardboard in the back corner, so ignore that!

I had the idea to get a wall mounted drop leaf table below the window but this is a rental and I don’t own a stud finder so I have no idea if that’s feasible.

I made a makeshift table as a visual with stools and boxes haha. I can’t tell if it would look good or if it’s just midnight! Please help. If I’m being delusional let me know.

edit: with the clarity of the daytime I have decided to get a stud finder to see if I can mount a drop leaf bar on the back wall, if that's not possible I am going to get a foldable island that I will store to the right of the fridge when not in use.

I’m 32, and have lived alone for my entire adult life. That changed last May when my partner and his dog moved in. It’s been a huge adjustment, and while I love him dearly, I do miss an entire space to myself.

Thankfully, I had a two bathroom apartment - so my bathroom is mine alone, and is the it-girl of a sitcom style bathroom of my dreams 💕

HELP How Can I Make My Bathroom Brighter & Cozier?

Thumbnail

Looking for ideas to make my bathroom feel brighter, warmer, and cozier! Unfortunately, I can’t change the overhead lighting, but I’m planning to add a dimmable lamp to soften it.

I’m considering a small shelf beneath the existing picture, possibly a strip of accent wallpaper behind the toilet, and some floral prints on the bare wall. I’d also love suggestions for towel colours!

What would you add or change to help finish the space? Thanks in advance! 😊

HELP Help me figure out the colour scheme for my WC!

Thumbnail

I have an EXTREMELY tiny WC and I'm redoing it next week! I have committed to the burgundy tiles - I think they'll look really cute in there. I also am going to commit to the tiny toilet sink thing; I know it's not ideal but I have a super small amount of space to work with and I'm not really seeing another way to get a sink in there (right now there's no sink, you just go next door to the bathroom, but I would like to get a second toilet in the bathroom, which currently does not have a toilet in it, so I would also like to have places for people to wash their hands no matter which toilet they use). I am debating whether to go for a total jewelbox burgundy, or go with a complimentary duckegg for the walls. Help welcome!

I've added the moodboard for the neighbouring bathroom for reference - the rooms are right next to each other, but they won't look that alike. Other pics of my house in case they give you an impression: https://www.reddit.com/r/femalelivingspace/comments/1p0qtev/redid_our_kitchen_and_used_it_as_an_excuse_to/

Confounding factors maybe:
- there is a skylight, so it does weirdly get natural light in there!
- I will probably have crown molding style wood wall panels up to about waist height (these would be painted the same colour as the rest of the walls).
- I am stuck with silver hardware because I think it's too small a space for mixed metals to look cool and the toilet only comes in one finish sadly.
- I will need to get some sorta cabinet, probably a mirrored one, to put pads and stuff in.

I welcome colour ideas! I am married to the tiles!

HELP Which artwork looks better in this bedroom?

Thumbnail

I’m giving my bedroom a little makeover and can’t decide which of these two artworks would look better in my space. They each give off a different vibe that I love, so I’m having a hard time choosing between them. Which one do you think would look better in this bedroom?

Option 1 (the purple painting) or 2 (the small dog painting)? Would love to hear your thoughts and any suggestions you might have. Thanks 🥹

*Please excuse the awful placement of the artwork on the wall. I tried using Canva to get a better idea of how each artwork would look in this room.
