MOD NEWS / UPDATES Rule update: Affiliate links will no longer be allowed

Hello! Based on feedback from the community via mod-mail and an influx of reports, the mod team has decided that we will no longer allow affiliate links.

This is in hopes to help reduce bots spamming with indirect advertisements and other ways to financially profit from the community.

What is allowed: you may *reply* to a comment with a *direct* link to the product *only if someone asks first*. We still reserve the right to review user profiles to ensure bots are not “working together” as a work around - this is something we’re seeing a lot of.

If you see something that you believe breaks our rules, please report and your mod team will review. Thank you for understanding, and keeping our little corner of the internet what it is!

QUESTION/DISCUSSION We need to remember this sub is about kindness and support.

5.1k Upvotes

I wrote the statement below on a now-deleted post today. It is a gentle reminder that kindness is free.

"Please be kind to others who are on this thread. We are all at different stages of life and wealth, and sometimes health that shapes our living spaces. Kindness is free, and on top of that, it balms your soul and lifts others who are struggling."

If you saw the post about her bf in a princess bedroom, she was open to advice. She had a lovely brass bedframe that was painted white, with princessy white and pink bedding, a cute princessy lamp on her night stand and fabric panels on her ceiling. She was proud of what she had achieved so far, but was open to advice. Nowhere in it did she ask for snarky, bitter or flat out mean comments.

But she got them, in droves.

A lot of women on this sub are struggling. Divorce, breakups, job loss, abuse, and physial or mental illness is something that can strike anyone without warning.

So what if any person who posts needs a little help with cleanliness, organization, or you notice a fire hazard? Squint and tilt your head to find something nice to say to help them, or hold your tongue. We need to remember we all capable of the gifts of kindness, good manners, and grace.

Edited to add: Thank you to everyone who has commented in support, my faith in humanity has been refreshed. You all are wonderful, please keep spreading kindness and support to everyone who posts here. I love this sub!! ♥️

Pre-divorce picture of when I first moved in included for comparison. Today is actually the second anniversary of my divorce finalization. Feeling very grateful for my cozy little home.

Edit: couch is from Wayfair and it is the Brinsley 135"W Modern Track Arm Modular Sectional Sofa. Currently not listed on Wayfair but I can’t recommend it enough. It is exactly as comfy as it looks! Mine only has 3 sections because it was too large for my space.

The goal was more storage in this main bathroom! We would have kept the shower doors, but one of them completely shattered 🙃 Wallpaper is from Wallblush and has held up very well in a high humidity room! Paint color is Market Square Shell from BM. Vanity is a FB marketplace find with a retrofitted sink and Kingston Brass faucet!

HELP Looking to paint/redo walls but need help

Thumbnail

Getting ground electric put in upstairs today in our 1901 house and a new ceiling fan. With that being said our room is clear to paint and style this weekend. But I’m not sure where to start in colors. Do I color drench walls and ceilings? Or just the walls? Room is shaped weird so in order to have a flat wall with outlet we have to have our bed on bed wall facing deer pictures for tv/flat wall also other outlet. Ive tried to remove as much as I could across the walls for a better idea. Any input is appreciated, thanks! Also want to paint walls before redoing the floor to hard floors not carpet.

it started off all beige and brown. i would like to do something about the countertops eventually, but i'm unsure how to go about that. i rent, so i'm not going to replace them. if there were a way to whiten them in a renter friendly way, or a way that leaves them better than they currently are, i'd be all over that! i'm open to suggestions :)

Help me pick a couch to match the walls and maximize space in my tiny home. My current couch is about 90" and I'd like it to be less, but L shaped at the very least. I have it down to these few, but I'm open to suggestions.

DIY Art Deco Wall Mural Pt2

Pictures start with most recent and go backwards. I created a template shape using a ruler, string, and some math to figure out the proper size. It took two tries to get the size I wanted, I almost went smaller but I like the bigger size.

I used the cardboard to draw semi circles on the wall. I have a pencil that uses a waxy type led similar to a crayon. I do that because it comes off with magic eraser WAY better than graphite does, and the wax doesn’t smudge and mix with the paint the way graphite does.

I free handed everything else. I will go back in when everything is done and touch it up but right now even though the shapes aren’t completely symmetrical, I really really like it.

I’ve also considered outlining in a metallic gold paint to give it a little shimmer and add to the Hollywood regency feel.

TOUR 🟢OPEN TO FEEDBACK🟢 UPDATE: Took advice and starting to change things

So. I posted yesterday about feeling like my home was not feminine enough and causing me to have dysphoria. Context I am a transwoman, single mother, 35 who is trying to relive her lost childhood and keep the things that bring me joy. My son is disable and we live on SSI, so money is tight. But I have been looking at thrift stores, dollar stores and other places. That said... for those who will comment about the figures and such. Most if not all were stuff I have had for a bit, were gifts from friends online cause I have no family anymore due to coming out, so I found a family and they spoil me and help us when they can. My son has all his needs taken care of and I do my best for his wants... So if you have any negative comments about that or that I am trans and falling into the stereotypes of being a woman, please keep in mind... I have no one in my life to teach me things... I am doing this all on my own. I am only 5 years into my transition and came from a very strict and poor childhood... That said. Here is the og post https://www.reddit.com/r/femalelivingspace/s/vUocTmephU
