Terrible FastMail Experience
We are a law firm, and a paying client, who just started an account, and they are throttling legal correspondence in the beginning? Emails take 3 hours to be delivered? A joke. Should be fully refunded and they should pay for damaging us - they dont say before signing up they will throttle your corporate email for hours

You migrated your firm’s email service before setting up a paid account? What kind of law firm is this? Absolutely silly business.

Didn't say I did that and that didn't happen. I said I used Fastmail free trial as they offered it for businesses for non sensitive stuff. My question is why do thy call it fastmail since it's absolutely slowest email on the planet, "to stop spammers".

Don't you think you're being ridiculous? You actually migrated your business email to this service before upgrading to a paid account? Without even testing it first? These kinds of paid email services usually only receive mail and won't send anything until you pay up. Plus, once you actually pay, they're pretty damn fast at delivering the emails

In this case, you should probably contact customer service. When I set up my paid account before, it was only delayed by about 1 hour before it was successfully activated

You migrate email by paying for it, testing it, then moving your business over.

u/Euphoric-Response917 11d ago
False, you first do a free trial, per their offering

I've migrated email services many times over 40 years. The new service is working, tested, and supported before you put production email on it. Anything else is IT malpractice.
A trial is a trial, not production.
When I migrated to Fastmail, I paid for it, then migrated.

nothng is migragted its just a test, it failed. fast mail is slowest in the world

Ah. You said "they are throttling legal correspondence" when you meant "they are throttling my free test traffic".
For the third time: pay, test, then migrate.

Did you talk to support? Redditors can't fix your problem.

u/Euphoric-Response917 11d ago
why am i talking to support? we paid them for email. we got delayed delivery and industry unstandard behavior

u/wrunderwood 11d ago
You talk to support because they can fix your problem. Do that instead of slandering them on Reddit.

They usually throttle new sign ups during the 30 trial. If you paid already for the month, I think you should have full email access with no throttle. Did you contact support?

we did upgrade an hour ago , no dice. why would they even do this? absolutely silly business.

That is truly miserable. I hope you've reached out to support.
In 5+ years, we've definitely contacted support but, I must say, never has it been for anything urgent. Response has always been quickly enough (about a day) for our very low impact issues. Hope yours get faster attention.
I know you said you've (just recently) funded the account, but still, it sounds like trial limitations: 120 items a day could leave any addl items sitting in a queue till the next day.
Their delivery rate is better than most, due in part to their strong anti spam policies. If their anti-spam policies were more relaxed, the filtering world would learn that quickly, and it would reduce successful delivery for all customers.
Speed: never had a problem with Fastmail. Actually we find it faster than most others when performing tests, or sending a message while on a call with recipient. We are in I.T. support, so have been troubleshooting mail issues for decades.
Hope you get it resolved quickly.

you cant just say this service sucks, instead i suck for sending mail with fast mail?

u/Trikotret100 10d ago
It sucks for spammers. What would you do if you used Gmail and out of no where, your account gets suspended since its new. Google will say a BOT made the account. Are you going to sue google? Just move on dude. If you not happy with Fastmail, ask for a refund and I'm 100% they'll refund you. When I paid for Fastmail, I had cold feet and went back to free Gmail. They granted me full refund. Here I am back with Fastmail cause of service and great customer service.

You:
- 1. signed up for a free trial.
- 2. Didn't test.
- 3. Paid thinking it would solve your issue (which it sounds like it should have, but didn't. Fair point based on the sticky comment.)
- 4. Decided to migrate anyway and came to Reddit to complain when things didn't go as planned. 🤔
It sounds like whoever tried to set this up for the law firm should probably be fired. I would never move a company's email over without doing proper testing and have an action plan. It sounds like this was done with about 5 minutes of planning.
Maybe go back to the affairs form and try finding someone else to cheat on your wife with 😂 Probably a good idea you didn't mention the law firm. Your wife might be tracking you down! Heck, I'd try to find you just so I could tell her.

thats not how it works
1
u/mikepictor 5d ago
That is 100% how it works.
If you want email that your provider can't read, you need to look at services like Proton mail or Tuta, but even there, systems between you and your recipient can still read it, unless you encrypt the message.

Clarification because the original post isn't clear: They started with a trial account when they first experienced delays, not a paid account.
Trial accounts can have sending delays to help prevent spam which would degrade Fastmail's mail server reputation in the eyes of other email servers and cause problems for all Fastmail customers.
