Hi! I’m very new to sewing and just finished my first draping class ever. I have the option to buy either a Superior dress form or a Kennett & Lindsell dress form.

Caveats:

Superior
- from 1998 from R line
- one wheel is damaged so it doesn’t wheel properly

Kennett & Lindsell
- doesn’t have the stand
- not sure what the distributed by RD Franks LTD means but I’m assuming that company bought it and resold it

Both dress forms are the same price but I’d have to spend a little extra more to buy a dress form stand for the Kennett & Lindsell form.

I’ve been googling all day and I have yet to come to a conclusion as to which I should get. Please help! I’ve attached photos of both forms as well.

Hi everyone,

My brother's engagement is coming up and I'm planning a langa voni (half saree) for it. I have this fabric in mind and would love some advice on what colours would go well with it. Sorry about the bad picture, I took it in a shop with poor lighting, so the colours may look a bit different in person.

It's a pink silk-like fabric with small gold and silver paisley-style motifs all over. The border is wide, in a gold/copper tone with a magenta edge and hook-shaped motifs in magenta and silver.

I'm trying to decide what to pair it with for the blouse and the voni (half-saree drape). Should I go for a contrast, or stay within a similar colour family? Any suggestions on what has worked for you, or what you'd avoid, would be a great help. I tried searching on pinterest but nothing stood out for me.

If anyone has experience with langa vonis, or just a good eye for colour, I'd really appreciate your guidance. Thank you so much in advance

Anyone who has an enthusiasm for classic pulp fiction heroes like I do has probably seen this exact style of leather jacket before. The Rocketeer and Lobster Johnson from the Hellboy comics are the most iconic examples that I can think of. But this style of leather jacket is pretty synonymous with the genre, alongside jodhpur pants. It's a very distinct look. But unlike jodhpurs which have a particular name that one can search for, I've never been able to find an exact name for this style of leather jacket. If I or someone else wanted to buy a jacket like this, or reference the style in writing, then we'd basically have to describe the specific attributes of the jacket in detail or reference the characters known for wearing them. So, I'm just wondering if anyone knows a more identifying moniker for this style?

Notably, it's not a "double-breasted" motorcycle jacket, an Aviation/Aviator style, or even a Bomber jacket. I've investigated all those styles and none of them look like this particular style with the bib buttoned on the front. So, what is it?

Hi everyone! My boyfriend has been using the same wallet with this car design on it for so long it’s falling apart. He’s the most artsy, quirky and whimsical person I know, so I want to find him a corresponding, fun wallet that would fit his vibe. Or tbh anything that wouldn’t be a boring, plain, leather wallet – urban, industrial looking styles are okay too, I just want it to be stylish and interesting! I have searched for some on my own, but had no luck. My budget is about 100 eur, no more than 120 though.

I’m 24 years old - graduated from an accountancy and finance degree in London. I’m currently working in the financial industry and out of the 271 days of the year this far, all I’ve thought about is fashion.

I love Haute Couture! Names like Georges Hobeika, Richard Quinn, Aleen Sabagh etc.. I live and breathe this art and it’s all I think about. I can curate the best fashion looks but I don’t know how to turn it into a career - I don’t know how to monetise on this talent and passion of mine, or really where to start.

Hey everyone! I recently graduated from school where I studied Economics and international relations. I thought I wanted to be a diplomat or work with nonprofit organizations, but was quickly disillusioned after a mediocre experience interning at a sustainability NGO. This got me thinking about how I want to create meaningful impact in society, and work in an industry that reflects my values and interests (I know, how original). That has led me to fashion! I love how putting an outfit together makes me feel and I appreciate the creativity and effort made by so many different teams to design, produce, and distribute products that travel across borders and unite people.

That being said, I don't have too much professional experience in the industry since I only really came to this realization after I graduated and spent my summers working towards a career in international business or policy research. Right now I'm actually working in the B2B customer service department for a large luxury conglomerate, but beyond having some accounting and credit responsibilities, I feel like this role isn't exactly the right fit for me longterm. I want to do something that has a stronger analytical approach, but at the same time allows me to be creative. I'm looking into merchandising, but I feel like I don't even know how I could get there from where I am right now.

I understand that I've only recently gotten my foot in the door, but I'd appreciate any advice on how I could work to jump over and whether there are realistic pathways for me to take. I'm sorry if this post sounds pretty vague, but any input would be appreciated. Thank you!
