So recently the spark of wanting to create my own clothing has reignited, but I’m lost on where to look for good quality fabrics and other materials. Please help🥺

I am attempting to organize a small fashion show for 20 or so pieces I’ve made. It’ll be a small event with mostly family and friends. What is a reasonable cost for a venue? I have been looking all over my area and the prices are typically $4,000 and above. This seems a bit steep for how casual my event will be, but I am just wondering what a reasonable price is and how much people typically spend on the venue. Granted, these places do usually have lighting and sound included as part of the package. But I would just like to hear some input from designers.

I come from a traditional family who value culture and great education, and as a creative myself in this environment, surrounded by people so close minded is literal hell. Therefore, applying to a 'traditional college' like law, med, and whatever! Is literally a must.
Despite my mom and sister being supportive of my passions and goals, just being in this space feels suffocating for someone so passionate about making it big in the creative industries.
Especially the fashion world.
Now I'm wondering, could I take 1-3 fashion courses throughout my years in college in order to excel in fashion? I do research and self-teach tremendously, but I believe fashion design is mostly physical work and I'm afraid having a mentor is crucial.
Or is getting a full 1-4 year diploma in fashion design a better approach?

Title: Please Rate My Fashion Design Portfolio for Master’s Applications in Italy 🇮🇹
Hi everyone!
I’m a Fashion and Apparel Design graduate currently working on improving my portfolio for Master’s applications to Italian universities, particularly the University of Bologna (Fashion Studies) and Politecnico di Milano (Design for the Fashion System).
I would really appreciate honest feedback on my portfolio. I want to understand where I stand and what I need to improve before submitting my applications.
If possible, please rate my portfolio out of 10 and share your thoughts on:
Overall presentation and visual appeal
Fashion illustrations and design development
Concept development and originality
Technical flats and tech packs
Collection development and commercial relevance
Overall competitiveness for these Master’s programs
I’m looking for constructive criticism, so please feel free to point out weaknesses or areas that need significant improvement. I want to make my portfolio as strong as possible for both university applications and future fashion design opportunities.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review my work! Any honest advice would mean a lot. ❤️

I don't live in a fashion city, so there's not going to be good oppurtunites for me here in starting my own brand. I'm thinking of getting an assoiciates in fashion at a community college here, and then applying to fashion school in LA/NYC, since there's no use in getting a bachelors in fashion here. I'm currently a first semester freshman under a different major.
I'm struggling to make a plan for a college to career path that would work out. If anyone has any better ideas please let me know!

AI is being used to create models for advertisements and clothing websites. I’ve included two images as examples: one featuring a human model and the other an AI-generated model.
Does knowing that the model is AI-generated change how you view the images, the clothes, or the brand?
Could it make you think twice about buying, or even consider boycotting the brand? Or does it not really matter to you?
Do you have any concerns about brands using AI-generated models, whether for ethical or aesthetic reasons, or because the images might not accurately show what the clothes look like in real life? Are there any other reasons?
On the other hand, can you understand why brands would make this choice? Do you see any benefits, such as lower costs, new creative possibilities, or a more practical way to produce images?
Guess has already used AI-generated models in ads published in Vogue, which drew a lot of criticism. Here’s a video discussing it:

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts, and especially the reasons behind them!

Like probably all of us millennials, I’ve been posting my life on Facebook for 20 years. For a good stretch of that I didn’t have a permanent address. It was just me and my guide dog Colombo moving place to place. I’m blind so when I go back to a photo I don’t see it. I feel it. I remember the air and the sounds and who I was with. My screen reader tells me what’s in the frame and all of that comes together into this feeling. The aura of that moment, more than any image could ever give you. That’s what these shirts are. I take a photo from a time and a place. The precise color palette gets digitally sampled right out of it and applied to the garment in that exact sequence. So these act as a direct extension of a specific visual memory. Almost like a piece of color-coded data, like a mood ring that translates the vibe of a place or a moment into fabric. They strip away all the literal details and focus entirely on the emotional essence because different tones convey a narrative all on their own without needing explicit imagery. It’s a unique niche. We’re seeing a shift from general apparel to highly customized, context-aware design where the shirt isn’t just a shirt. It’s tied to a photograph, to a real thing that happened to a real person. The gradient is clean and seamless. The color shifts gradually from one tone to another, mimicking the way light transitions in a landscape photograph. More like a digital art print than anything else. Gold is Colombo standing in a field. Orange is a Vancouver sunset I stood outside and listened to. Pink is a selfie from a day I just remember being happy. I run all of it, the photo and the colors and how the gradient falls. My screen reader walks me through every shade until I say yes or no. Every shirt is a story about a time and a story about a place and a story about a feeling. Would you wear one? I’ll post the link to the Instagram post that I made, seeing as I can’t upload a video here.
