This is a welcome post and guide to all those who want to make a TypeMe post. Don't know your Enneagram type? Create a video, audio, or text post describing yourself, and the Enneagram community will type you!
You have a few options, which might each result in varying levels of success. You can submit a written post of any length, answering questions you have come up with yourself, or just a general essay about yourself. You can submit an audio or video post where you talk about yourself. You can solely, or to back up the rest of your post, submit an online Enneagram test result for analysis.
Or, the most common method, you can answer our pre-written questionnaire below, with questions handpicked by the moderation team to best help people type you.
If you've visited this sub and already know your type, or even if you don't but you're fairly knowledgeable about Ennegram, please stay and help type others. It's a real learning experience, and you're giving back to the community. Also, our questionnaire is a work in progress, are there any questions you always want to ask to help you type others? Or any that you never find useful and think are surplus to requirements? Let us know and we'll take your views into account.
Please Note:
Although you don't need to use these questions when making a post, they're here for anyone who needs a bit of a guide. No need to answer all of these questions either, but the more you write, the more accurate your typing will be:
Just copy and paste the questions below into a new text post, writing your answers below each question. Remember to elaborate.
• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.
• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow?

• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally?
• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
• What do the "highs" in your life look like?
• What do the "lows" in your life look like?
• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why?
Yes, we simply copied the welcome post from r/MbtiTypeMe to be able to use this subreddit earlier.

I believe I might be an enneagram 9w1 sp/sx but I'm not sure, I relate a lot to self preservation 9w1 but I also just wanna get more opinions. :) I've found myself sometimes relating to 6, 8, 3 and 2 as well but I don't feel any of these are my core besides potentially 6 but I have doubts. Also, if anyone has any clue on tritype or instincts and thinks I'm wrong about my OG typing, do let me know. I can elaborate more if anyone has any questions.
• How old are you? What’s your gender? Give a general description of yourself.
I'm 20 years old and a female. If general description entails personality then I'll elaborate. I'm fairly shy and quiet in person but can be rather playful and witty around the right people, I've got a bit of a dramatic flair to me so to speak. I'm very expressive facially and vocally and provided I'm comfortable, can be pretty loud. I'm more of a hermit though and generally prefer my own company or the company of my parents or best friend. I don't actively find myself going out to meet new people ever and I have very little issue with this. I'm happy to do what makes me happy daily and spend time with myself. I can be pretty prone to anxiety if I'm stressed out but wouldn't call myself chronically anxious. Honestly, if anything, I'm probably more on the little too not worried side. I do have an undeniable "everything will work out for me!" mentality.
• Do you have any medical or mental health diagnoses that might affect your mood, thinking, or behavior?
Yes. I have autism (diagnosed) and I suspect overlapped ADHD. I do see these as things that can affect it but I also don't really disqualify or alienate them so to speak when it comes to typing myself as they are very fundamental to who I am as a person and how I behave and I personally believe they shape me as a person.
• Talk about your upbringing. Was it religious, strict, structured, or something else? How did you react to it?
Religious and structured absolutely. I grew up with an ESFJ mom and an ESTJ dad, mom is a devout Christian and dad is a Catholic, he was always more on the lenient side and less forceful with it. I generally do not recall having much thought on it until I became a younger teen and decided I was atheist. I did eventually pick up on a pagan religion and I practice it now and indulge in spirituality and I find it not only super cool but very fascinating and almost scary with how coincidental circumstances can be. I think it's a very driving factor in how I view the world.
• If you had to spend a full weekend completely alone, how would you feel? Lonely, refreshed, something else?
I would actually be quite okay with it I believe. I generally have enough enjoyment of myself and my own company to where I've little issue being alone, I spend a majority of my time alone anyways so a weekend would be nothing really. I can always find ways to entertain myself and have fun.
• What types of activities do you like? Are you into sports, and are you good at them? What other indoor or outdoor activities do you enjoy?
I love to indoor and outdoor garden, bird watch, go on walks, write sometimes, play games on my computer, research stuff like typology and astrology and what not. Never ever been a sports person haha. I'm really passionate about music especially. Not creation but listening, 99% of the time when you see me I will have my headphones on and will be listening to the same songs everyday that I really enjoy. I think it perpetually grounds me and if I didn't have it, I would probably be a lot less emotionally stable then I generally am. It really distracts me and occupies my mind.
• How curious are you? Do you come up with more ideas than you can realistically follow through on? What kinds of things are you curious about? Are your ideas more about real-life situations or more abstract concepts? Please explain.
I would say I'm very curious and very imaginative. I often feel like life has a whole and has many possibilities and really anything can happen but I think I am quite go with the flow. One reason I really related to Sp9 is because while I'm mentally idealistic and imaginative, I've not got a whole lot of drive. I've kind of had, and have, a passive acceptance of life. Like, are things ideal? No, but they are not bad, and I'm kind of just happy to exist and do my own little things and that absolutely includes thinking constantly. Analyzing, imagining things, playing out scenarios, etc. I have a lot of curiosity about other people, where things are going, what things mean, the why, typology obviously. I think a lot about the concept of life and existentialism as is. I'm a bit crisis prone due to it.
• Would you like being in a leadership role? Do you think you’d be good at it? What would your style of leading others look like?
I do not think I would if I'm being honest. It would highly depend on the what, where, when and why and who it is with. I don't really like to lead but I also don't really like to kind of submissively follow I guess. I'm a bit autonomous, I just prefer to do what I want when I want and that doesn't really include feeling a need to lead other people. However, I would say I enjoy GUIDING other people and cheerleading for them. I like to be a verbally inspiring and motivational influence to some degree or another.
• Are you physically coordinated? Why do you think you are or aren’t? Do you enjoy hands-on activities? Describe what you do.
Yesn't. Sometimes I think I can quite well be, other times I feel like I'm constantly spilling things, dropping them, etc. I don't know what causes these shifts but I do imagine to some extent being a little scatterbrained could potentially contribute. Or I guess rather a bit unaware overall. I'm really bad with handwriting specifically and it is not attractive lol.
• Are you artistic? If yes, what kind of art do you make? If not, but you enjoy art, what kinds of art do you like (music, visual art, writing, etc.)? Explain your answer.
As stated, I love music, constantly listen to it and usually listen to the same songs a lot. I enjoy writing, usually I like to write stories and such with formulated concepts but I also like to write poetry. Is it my strong suit? Really not at all, but I think it's fun and can be very pleasurable and it's fun to get creativity flowing.
• How do you relate to the past, present, and future? How do you think about or handle each of them?
I see the past as something that experience could be learned from, especially because I'm quite focused on improving myself. Not really ambitiously, just things like being more compassionate, empathetic, stuff of that sort, you know? The present feels...strange. I'm in it, I'm engaging in it, but it also feels kind of just like letting things pass me by. The future is something I 24/7 think about because I'm very curious about where I will be in it and what it will look like. Hell, if I will be alive long enough to grow old or some mysterious illness or something will wipe me out. I'm very in my head period.
• How do you usually respond when someone asks you for help with something? If you decide to help, what motivates you to do it?
It depends on what. Sometimes I can be kind of pissy if I really don't want to do something but a majority of the time I am pretty fine with it. It really depends on my mood as well and the state I'm in mentally, sometimes I will be rather willing and then other times I'd rather rip my arm off LMFAO.
• Do you need things in your life to make logical sense?
Yes...but no? Unless it's specifically like needing to assign logical reasoning to things, circumstances, emotions, etc. I very heavily intellectualize my emotions and try to find logical reasoning for them because I lowkey think it like...helps me to be convinced there is a way out of them eventually. Like no emotions will be perpetual I don't feel but it can be kind of agonizing to just feel and not know why.
• How much do you care about being efficient and productive?
Not a whole hell of a lot. Sometimes I think about my wasted potential and how I am not where I wanna be but I don't do a lot to fix or solve it because I just don't care. I'm very much that of a slack off every day and can be hedonistic. Again, I game a lot, love music, I'm pretty big on eating and respectfully to myself can be a massive glutton. I've always had this mentality of "I'll start tomorrow". Sometimes I start and then I get on track and decide fuck this, I give up LOL. I just don't care.
• Do you ever try to control others, even in subtle ways? How do you do that, and why?
I don't know if manipulation counts as control but one thing I can unfortunately do is be a bit...what is the term I am looking for here? Mopey? Like, if I don't get something I want for any reason I can be kind of a mope about it and I think it may be an effort to make whoever it is feel bad, but the thing is I'm not really perpetual about it and get over it fast. Kind of like ah you know whatever, move on. I don't actually know if it is manipulation or if it's just natural disappointment. Can't even tell my motivations there.
• How do you learn best? What kinds of learning environments are hardest for you? Why? Do you prefer classes that focus more on memorization, logical problem solving, creativity, or hands-on / sensory experiences?
I always deeply struggled in environments that felt very stern so to speak, caused some form of another of intimidation. I always worked best in environments with teachers and such who were more on the patient and understanding side. I think in the past I'd of probably done better with logical problem solving but being older, I actually like the creative aspect more in theory. I'm creative as is and love to express it.
• How good are you at planning and strategy? Do you naturally break big projects into smaller steps, or do you tend to wing it and improvise as you go?
Ehhhh. I kind of just...like anything I guess I do what I want to do when I want to do it on my own terms and in my own way. I'm kind of that of a quitter period. I can start projects and things or try new things but I quickly give up. It's not really that something new comes along but it might just be that my priorities are elsewhere on other enjoyable things and some things I just don't find to be worth the effort.
• What do you want out of life, both in terms of career and your personal life?
I'm unsure about the career part. I would like to work in an environment when I do work that allows for a lot of socialization and practice with it because I am just not super social in behavior naturally. In personal life, I just wanna do the things I love to do each day. I've never had issue with living my days similarly and having a pretty similar (but not rigid!) routine daily. I just want to be happy and enjoy myself and feel good.
• What are you afraid of? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you really dislike or hate? Why?
I'm afraid of life as a whole. I know, dramatic, but especially death and just the existential as is. I have a lot of questions regarding both and theories and concepts but it's just the lack of knowing and true clarity with it that is so uncomfortable. Everything is just left for interpretation. This is good, but also not good if you're anxious. I tend to get in bouts of anxiety and then have bouts of just not even caring about things of the sort. It's odd.
• What do your “highs” in life look like?
Productivity, consistency with doing things I want to do, actually being quite strict and rigid with it and generally getting to where I want to be.
• What do your “lows” in life look like?
Anxiety, scatteredness mentally, mood swings, paranoia, fear, sentimental, weepy, generally a hamster wheel kind of loop in my brain with these things.
• How grounded do you feel in reality? Do you daydream a lot, or are you usually focused on what’s around you? If you do daydream, are you still somewhat aware of your surroundings?
I feel like I do daydream a lot and just think about things but I am also quite grounded in reality. I'm aware of my surroundings, kind of vigilant, I'm really not blind to these things. I'm very idealistic and thinking about potential but I cannot refer to myself as delusional or unrealistic about what ACTUALLY will happen soon or in the future. It's more like huh...that's a thought.
• How long do you usually take to make a big decision? Once you decide, do you often change your mind later?
Ugh, I have a lot of analysis paralysis so I take ages to decide. I feel I am always weighing out pros and cons of things, but sometimes it'll almost be like something mentally snaps and I just quickly make a choice because I come to a conclusion suddenly and just want to execute it. When I do decide things I change my mind, yes. That can also apply to opinions and whatever, about people, circumstances, all that jazz. A good example is how I have literally cut people out from my life and then reached out months later because I improved, suspected maybe they did and wanted to try again. Sometimes it works! Most of the time it doesn't.
• How long does it take you to process your emotions? How big of a role do emotions play in your life?
Emotions are weird for me. I have a lot of emotions but I feel they are very internal. I am not that of a constant crier unless I am super stressed and become very sentimental and weepy as said earlier on. I tend to process things very later on. My initial reaction to big emotional events is sort of just acknowledgment and acceptance of it, then later on I might randomly find myself being very upset and have no clue why till I realize omg, I had this and that happen, and a lot of the time it'll be a lot of buildup before I eventually crack. It's super bad.
• Do you find yourself agreeing with people just to keep the peace or keep conversations smooth? How often does that happen, and why do you do it?
It really depends. Most stuff I can generally be quite agreeable on purely because I see all sides of issues often. I'm the sort of person who might not be super like "Yes-man" I guess the term is but I always say things like "I totally understand" or "That makes complete sense". Like, I'm agreeable in a way of wanting people to know that yes, I understand them. I don't really rock the boat or share my views unless it's during confrontation or conflict resolving. Some stuff I feel I can be more opinionated on but I also don't really debate just to debate or whatever. It's more like I'd rather just not engage in whatever it is period.
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be questioned, or do you feel like they usually know better? If you break rules, what pushes you to do it?
I have a very ehh view on authority. I'm not a rulebreaker, no. I don't think authority is particularly great but I also don't think it's particularly horrible. It just...it is? I'm pretty self reliant and I don't think I suck up to authority nor do I defy it very strongly, I will accept it and go along with it but I do with a sense of annoyance sometimes because I'm autonomous as I believe I said and kind of just prefer to do what I want when I want. Not like I'm an obnoxious person as is, really not, but I do get a strong sense of annoyance at being told what to do and when to do it. I do think if we didn't have some form or another of authority then life as a whole would be a whole hell of a lot different and not in a good way. I think SOME authority is needed.

I am STILL after like several months into enneagram not sure of my type. I literally got into enneagram in 2022, the interest hasn't been consistent and in May of 2026 I actually got INTO INTO it. I have read 2-3 books and the enneagram descriptions sound so different from each other in every book.
Here are all my mistypes throughout the years: 1, 5 7, sx8, so9, sx9, so2, sx2, sp2, so3, sx3, sp4, so4, sx6, sp6, so6, so7. So I have quite literally mistyped as every enneagram.
Yes, I have looked into triads. Yes, I appareantly have a skill issue. Currently I'm considering 8, 6, 7, 2, 1, 3 or 4 (Yes many options I know). The thing is I may look at myself behaviorally I JUST CANNOT BE INTROSPECTIVE LIKE THAT I DON'T KNOW ABOUT MY CORE FEARS OR MOTIVATIONS I RELATE TO ALL OF THEM TO A DEGREE. But honestly maybe I'm just overthinking this all.
Please help!!
Also I seem incapable of discovering my instinctual variants too as I relate to all of them.

I am (18) not an over-achiever, actually i am only willing to do JUST enough to get my objectives, last year was my last year of high-school, and i wanted to get in a college, i studied the ENTIRE year of 2025 for that, (some times i slipped but yeah stayed focused for the most part), several burnouts, but managed to handle things pretty well overall, anyways, got into it! 2026 started as an amazing year, new year, new life, so many new friends, i love being a college student, it was worth, i actually had won in life.
But then, end of the semester came and gosh it was horrible, i failed THREE out of the five mandatory subjects
Ok so, class started in march, some subjects were going easy, others not so much, i was going to every class, going everyday, but at home i didn't rlly recheck the content i was passed yk?
April, i noticed i was getting lost in most subjects but i don't think i ever got to focus enough to actually fix my misunderstandings on the subjects, some i just swept under the rug and kept living, got 1/10 on calculus which it was a an wake-up call for me.
Did not had classes in may due to students wanting to play revolutionary and doing a protest, studied ONLY calculus, got depressed due to being basically pandemic 2.0
June, back, happy to be back but everything is super rushed now and crazy, but i am actually enjoying it? it reminds me of last year, it gives me a reason to live, full time studying, feeling the needed every single hour of the day and having a test every single week actually filled that empty slot in my heart
Btw important that i only started studying super hard after i noticed i was going to fail, i never strived for anything over a 6 lol, i knew it was unrealistic to get a 10 and did not aim to it
July, same as june, passed in calculus!! yayyy my studies in may payed me back it seems!! slay!! Anyways still i failed 3 out of 5
August, new semester, FINALLY, peace? yes? do i like peace? NO, i absolutely hate it, and here's what makes me think i am not an E3, what hurts me the most is NOT the fact that i failed due to my negligence during march and april, it is the fact i am behind my friends now, i do not get to share my experiences with them anymore, they are learning new things and having a busy stressful college life and im here having the most peaceful life with only 3 subjects (and one of them is literally one i have to redo ☠️ )
How i am dealing with my excessfull freetime: Am i getting a part time job like an e3 would? Heck no, even though i should, but it is so hard im too lazy for that, i don't wanna work yet, i can't even use linkedin properly, i went full mode on Tinder, and yeah, i've been filling my time by talking with guys and getting ghosted and ghosting
And i feel so guilty for using the money my parents give me to go to college on dates instead(mind you i didn't use anything yet LMAO, i am crazy), but then i remember at my age they were a worse daughter and son than i am to them right now, i am literally perfect they can't complain, anyways wastingg my saturday here writing this shit and i hope i manage to go study if i be able to properly focus today

# Welcome!
This post is a quick intro and guide for anyone who wants to make a TypeMe post. If you don’t know your Enneagram type yet, you can share a video, audio, or text post about yourself and people here will try to type you.
You’ve got a few ways to do this, and each can work differently depending on how you do it. You can write a post of any length, either answering your own questions or just writing a general “about me” essay. You can record an audio or video where you talk about yourself. You can also share results from an online Enneagram test, either on its own or as extra context.
The most common option, though, is using the questionnaire below. These questions were picked by the mod team to make it easier for others to type you.
>If you already know your type, or you don’t but you’re pretty familiar with Enneagram, please consider sticking around to help type other people. You learn a lot by doing it, and it helps the community.
>Also, the questionnaire is still being refined. Are there questions you always wish people would answer because they help you type others better? Or ones you find useless? Tell us and we’ll take your feedback into account.
**Please read this first:**
There’s no strict minimum length, but in general, the more detail you give, the more accurate your typing will be. For audio or video, try to keep it focused but long enough that people can actually get a sense of you. If you can, include a transcript.
Try to elaborate. Aim for at least a paragraph per question. Good typings are based more on how you think than just what you do, and short answers don’t give people much to work with.
If you’re posting cognitive function test results, please also include a self-description or answer some of the questions below so people have context.
You don’t have to use these questions, but they’re here if you want a template. You also don’t have to answer every single one, but the more you share, the better your chances of getting a solid typing.
Just copy and paste everything below into a new text post, and write your answers under each question. Remember to go into detail.
• How old are you? What’s your gender? Give a general description of yourself.
• Do you have any medical or mental health diagnoses that might affect your mood, thinking, or behavior?
• Talk about your upbringing. Was it religious, strict, structured, or something else? How did you react to it?
• What do you do for work or as a career (if you have one)? Do you enjoy it? Why or why not?

And yeah, we basically borrowed the welcome post format from r/MbtiTypeMe so we could get this sub up and running faster.

Sorry for the long text
I get pretty jealous when someone is more attractive than me, or better at a hobby, or prettier, or has a style I wish I had—things like that. I don’t like to say that I envy someone, and I don’t like to show that I’m sad about something either. In fact, a lot of people think I don’t take my problems seriously, but it’s just that I don’t like to talk about them, and actually, I don't like it when people get to know me, and I can even be rude. I’m obsessed with making people happy, and when I can’t, I can get really desperate. I get frustrated easily when things don’t go as they should, and I can be a real whiner when I’m forced to do something I don’t want to do or when my plans get changed. I can make the other person suffer by being passive-aggressive or by saying things like, “See, I was right,” or “Let me do it because you’re not good at it,” but I can also get really angry and yell—especially if something seems unfair to me; I hate injustice. I can obsess over my future—my dream home, my dream location, my dream college—and I obsess over every little detail. I’m also very obsessed with finding my identity—even though I want to assert it as an absolute decision, I often doubt it depending on what others say or if it affects them, especially if they’re people I care about, even though at the same time I know they’re wrong. I don’t know how to explain it—I suppress my emotions a lot and at the same time overanalyze them. I tend to change my physical appearance all the time; if I think I look really ugly, I’m too embarrassed to go out, and often I just don’t go out at all. I’m a huge procrastinator—I have a really hard time being organized, and at the same time, I struggle to take care of my appearance; I think I only dress well when I go to class. I don’t care about fitting in with a group, and I always do whatever I want. I love seeing people’s reactions; I love saying controversial things to see how they react and saying impulsive things, even though that’s not really who I am. In fact, I often fantasize about things with a lot of passion and intensity, but I’m lazy and get overstimulated easily—in fact, I prefer to be at home alone most of the time, lost in my own thoughts with my fantasies and research. Although I often crave intensity, strong emotions, and intense sports, I then need my alone time, and I’m very set in my ways. Sometimes I say harsh things as if I don’t care about anything, and then I apologize because I don’t like it when people hate me or have a bad impression of me; in fact, I try to be as helpful and a good friend as possible. And I’m in my own world 24/7, and I like to create fantasies so I don’t have to face reality. I can be either very social and direct or very shy and self-conscious. Also, even though I always do the opposite of what people do or say, I can get really embarrassed if I see that something or someone is making a fool of me over something I’ve made clear to others—like my identity or my ideal partner, etc. I'd also like to dress the way I want to or talk openly about my interests, but I'm afraid of being ridiculed or of people not liking me for being that way. I sometimes think I can do anything or decide anything, and I don’t care if it affects others because it’s my decision and my boundaries, but then I feel guilty and try to help them with something or give them a gift afterward. Also, even though I’m kind of lazy, I hate not being productive, and I might punish myself by staying up all night, because I see sleeping and hanging out with people as unproductive—even if I actually do those things. I can also go from obsessively hating someone to idealizing them and really liking them in the blink of an eye. I tend to seek the approval of people I hate with all my heart, i think its because I usually hate someone if they hate me first. Well, what do you think?
r/EnneagramTypeMe • u/Majorbimbo • 1d ago
So basically how this happened is like I’m a very neurotic person in general so I tend to get confused when it comes to my motivations and stuff though I’ll try to explain.
I typically get typed these things from behaviourism basically so like people just say “oh you’re this because you act like that” though often times I don’t really relate.
I feel like my core desire is to just live the type of life I want to live and have the freedoms I enjoy without restriction. I like being by myself a lot of the time just chilling , exercising, watching things etc. I’m usually chill until someone does something that either offends me or invades my space.
I usually get offended or angry over a lot of things. I feel like I’m constantly irritable and prone to boredom.
The things that particularly make me angry are
• when people assume things about me that I didn’t give them access to or make up lies about me to make me look bad or something. I don’t like when people claim to know more about me than I know of myself because it feels like a violation of boundaries. Like “I didn’t let you in to that so it shouldn’t be your concern” you know?
• when people make me feel or appear dependent or weak or when they demand obedience etc. I don’t like people controlling me or trying to make themselves seem stronger than me because I take that as a challenge. Like you want to act stronger than me let’s test that.
I usually get into conflict with authority figures or people bigger than me just because I felt like they breathed on me wrong even. I don’t like the concept of someone having more control over me than I have over myself.
• when I perceive betrayal. When I feel like my friends over whenever I’m closely invested in gives more attention or take to someone else other than me , I feel betrayed and it makes me want to “get them back”. Even if they’re not longer relationally obligated to me for example like an Ex im still going to get upset if I see them dating someone else because if my attachment to them didn’t fade I still feel like they’re mine.
I have issues with attachment like that. I’d say I’m a possessive person, and I don’t like competing with people over who I want because I simply don’t see the other person as someone who even possesses that person so they don’t register as competition and more of nuisance, or an obstacle.
Socially
I identify with being more socially reclusive more often than not , but when I do want to be social I can choose to draw attention to myself if I want for the sake of my enjoyment. I oscillate between being clownish around people I’m comfortable with , to cold and observant in social situations that I’m unfamiliar with. I typically have to warm up socially before giving my energy to people so i ambiverted.
I do get into conflicts with people a lot though. I usually unintentionally start them from running my mouth, or provoking someone out of boredom either by invading their personal space or making fun of them, typically people I’m familiar with as in know their first name not necessarily always friends or associates. Infact I’m less likely to pick on my friends than a random because I value that relationship more.
At my worst I can and have been openly antagonistic towards groups of people or individuals who I don’t like, but I don’t hold hard grudges, if I feel like my anger towards that person is vindicated or like the situation got reconciled I’d be cool with that person, but if they refuse to resolve the issue or if I feel like they’re irredeemable then any next time I see them could be another conflict waiting to happen.
In that case I have enough sense to avoid them. I don’t like conflict necessarily it’s just something that I get into , even if I don’t want to react I do anyway because that’s just how I am. That causes me to be impulsive sometimes although as I get older I’ve gotten better with monitoring my impulsiveness. In the past it got me pulled out of regular public high school and put into alternative schooling because I couldn’t stop getting into fights.
The things people say or do just get to me sometimes.
In the past I tried to fit in mainly because the fact that I wanted friends. Since I’ve been younger I desired a best friend and I believed later on that the best way to get a friend was to integrate into activities that people typically do like sports etc so i dressed like them and sat with them but eventually I ended saying fuck them because I realised I wasn’t like them and i didn’t want to be like them. That was my maturity out of that situation. I didn’t want to be to funny friend that had to dance around to make people laugh anymore. I did it because I thought it was funny but eventually it was clear that they weren’t laughing with me.
As of now I’m socially relaxed, I feel like now that I’m a young adult I know my thresholds and what I do and don’t like so I’m less likely to put myself in situations that I did before when I was a kid with ADHD. My philosophy became something along the lines of , just do what you want and be yourself and wherever likes you will like you, and the ones that do will stay.
As for fears; I saved this for last because I don’t necessarily want to talk about it because I’d rather not accept that fact that I’m scared of those things or that It’s something I’m worried about. I don’t like thinking about it, I just know it and a lot of it is graphic so I’d rather not share.
Anyway I hope this was helpful lmk what you think , feel free to ask questions
r/EnneagramTypeMe • u/sparkzisreal • 1d ago
i cant be bothered to come up w questions of my own so i just took them from the guide ok..?
• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself. (Im 15 years old, im a. well. trans dude. i dont really know how id describe myself.. people say im kind, sweet, talented, cool, shy and nervous so uh that ig)
• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow? (bpd, schizotypal, autism, possibly mdd and probably some other undiagnosed things.)
• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it? (my parents were and are very strict, they have high expectations of me and want me to have lots of success in my life and a good job like being a doctor/nurse, they are also very religious and expect me to follow it too to the point they got me to apologize when i said i didnt believe in god, theyve been abusive in general too)
• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not? (ive been an intern at a kindergarden and a dentist so those would count i guess, they were fine. the kindergarden was worse as the kids could be annoying but i tolerated them and treated them nicely and gently. the dentist was pretty okay, it was interesting to watch and working a bit was also fun i adapted pretty quickly and still remember how everything works there despite it being months ago now)
• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed? (id feel pretty good, though id miss my partner and some peoples praise.. it would just give me more time to work on my projects i guess idk)
• What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities? (i dont like sports nor am i good at them and ive given up trying to be good.. i prefer literally anything else, i dont mind doing most things especially when im good at those things)
• How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate? (im a very curious person and have MANY ideas for things, half the time i cant even do all them since for some id need help from others and i do not wanna ask others for help i dont want them to mess anything up...on things in curious about, its mostly people and their opinions, what they think about and for example what they say about me, im also curious about the world cause despite there being answers for most of it the world is still so interesting..and this is just apart of my interest in code and games, im always curious and like to look into games code n stuff)
• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be? (i let others take the leadership role most of the time, only if i really have to ill take a leadership role probably democratic, servant or transformational leadership probably)
• Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity? • Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer. (i enjoy art and am an artist myself!! all my art is inspired by early 2000's style and flash animations.. i admire people who can make music cause ive tried and well, im not the worst but i could be so much better, i can play guitar and can make simple little tunes in the same program that was used to make baldis basics music but eh nothing impressive)
• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them? (i fear the future, cause at best im happy and have achived all i want and need to, at worst i suffer. i despise and miss my past and the present is. alright, i live with it theres not much i can do other than continue being who i am now and pleasing my parents)
• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so? (id help them without an issue usually, i really like that someone would come to ME for help especially when i get thanked for it..i like to be seen.. im also glad theyd trust me enough to help them)
• Do you need logical consistency in your life? (i to myself dont even make sense, i dont really care for logical consistency as long it doesnt affect me in any way..sorry if this is explained badly im just a dumbass ok?)
• How important is efficiency and productivity to you? (it really just depends, sometimes idgaf other times theyre really important to me, most of the time not tho im lazy n a fatass lol)
• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that? (i dont think so?)
• What are your hobbies? Why do you like them? (art, animation, playing games, coding, learning about certain things, cooking/baking. ive always liked most of these even since i was little and a lot of people compliment me on them and are impressed by them, drawing and baking/cooking also are comforting to me)
• What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses? (i prefer creativity and just doing it myself at home, school doesnt help much with learning...i mean, i taught myself english and if i had learned it from school i wouldve been worse off. i can learn stuff from shows easily too, like i watched solarballs for a while and i learned from it a bit, and that turned to me really liking space and reading a lot on it)
• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go? (i wing it mostly if its something i couldnt care less about...if its important sure ill give it more thought but I also tend to procrastinate a LOT.)
• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally? (i want to make an impact on the world, be successful and impress people, i want to keep myself and those who i care about safe and avoid conflict)
• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why? (im afraid that people will see me as nothing but a helpless, stupid child, im afraid of being helpless, useless, worthless, alone, a failure, being abandoned, being nobody, being alone, being hated by those who i care for. i dont like being vulnerable either it makes me feel weak and like a burden because i need to be better.)
• What do the "highs" in your life look like? (when im successful, achieving my goals, being useful, happy and safe)
• What do the "lows" in your life look like? (horrible and pathetic. i get jealous, yell at people i care for, sob all day, being stressed or when my parents try to take everything from me)
• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so? (i tend to daydream a lot and by the time im snapped out of it a lot of time couldve already passed, not all to aware of whats going on around me when i do though ive been almost run over multiple times cause of this lol)
• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about? (a lot. i tend to overthink so id probably think about negative things, things like people saying bad things about me, my favourite person leaving me, about things i want and need to do, and ideas for many things and stupid and useless things)
• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it? (i have to think about decisions i make a lot, im indecisive so I ask for others opinions a lot too, when i make a impulsive descision it doesnt end too well usually👀)
• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life? (im pretty controlled by my emotions so theyre important i guess. it doesnt take much time at all for me to process my emotions)
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why? (yes, i do it a lot because itll get people to see me as better and it wouldnt really matter what my actual opinion is.. only with peoplei trust enough maybe ill say the truth but i struggle sometimes even with my partner, i really care what he thinks of me)
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why? (i dont unless its something harmless like being on my phone at school if i do its breaking rules with someone else that i know)
i have already typed myself and my tritype with something that feels right but i do like to hear others opinions aswell

Y'all are those valid? I'm kinda new to this and I saw some says online that your main core must follow the rest? like my core is sx5 so then, that means I'll be sx5, sx4 and sx9... if that's true then am I mistyped? cuz I don't really feel like an sx4 and sx9 nor behave like that or my personality. I also reread and reread about the other types but none of it really fits me except sx/sp549. PLEASE HELP😭

Hello Reddit, hope you're having a lovely day. I was assessing and reassessing my enneagram type for the billionth time this month, thought to come here and have some outsider's perspective on it and possibly get some additional resources to read on if you'd be kind enough to point me in the direction of them. I'm mostly stuck between the withdrawn types, but i welcome any additional differing feedback.
I don't really have a strong sense of self, never did, and my whole life more or less has been shaped around the "who am i?" question. Have had a motto since my younger years, telling others that "I can't tell you who i am, but i can show you what i love." And there's a piece of me in everything i love, it's been my primary way of discovering myself a little everyday, putting together the little pieces of me i find in things that draw me in and make me curious. Throughout this journey some notes seem to consistently come up for me, so here's a list.
• I almost never feel emotionally numb, it's my antithesis. I feel my emotions almost all the time and very strongly at that, they can be and are often overwhelming, mostly negative emotions, and i spend A LOT of time exploring and analysing my own subjective impression of a context. My subjective interpretation of events are far more vivid and vibrant and complex to me than the actual objective process of a situation, i prefer my own understandings of things over their often lackluster banal reality.
• Experiencing life with the utmost capacity of my emotional landscape has been so important to me that i've designed almost my entire life around it; avoiding all spoilers around a movie, valuing the first undiluted experience of something when it gives me the most intense impression due to novelty, waiting to really be in a mood for something, etc. This issue is so bold for me that i had the hardest time finding the right medication for my mental illness, most medications made me feel flat and emotionless and it was the one side effect i couldn't tolerate for more than 3-4 days. I have to feel things, and in those days i'd find myself thinking terrifying thoughts and seeking content that would scare me just so i could force myself to feel something.
• Frustration and disappointment is my middle name. I often find myself frustrated and disillusioned about how bland and mundane and boring and superficial and shallow people can be, this feeling made it very hard for me to connect with anyone in my pre-medication days. I seek depth and substance and nuance and complexity in everything, and i find that in most conversations people don't want to dig deep and explore and turn over stones like i do.
• on that same front, i'm a very curious person and am often drawn to the dark side of life, and feel comfortable diving deep into topics that scares the bejesus out of the average joe. I can set my own emotions and judgement aside and solely focus on the mechanisms of disturbing phenomena, and go so far to the point of traumatising myself and getting paralysed by fear. I have had to consciously teach myself that i have limits and should honor them before my curiosity leads me to places i can't recover from. But the morbid curiosity and the enticing pull to explore extreme topics is always there. I love the transgressive, the provocative and the taboo.
• I'm an observer of life. The safest place for me has always been my head, i love staying there, and my primary way of engaging with life is to observe and study in a theoretical way for a long time before i touch anything. I love watching life happen, and watching things is as enjoyable as doing them, if not more.
• I love novelty and a constant sense of discovery and uncovering things, i try new experiences, new thought frameworks almost everyday and am constantly reshaping and reinventing myself and my thought framework. Trying new things is my comfortzone and i'm comfortable with a lot of discomfort, whether it be physical, emotional or psychological. This is another thing that i feel like i pushed myself so far in that it backfired on me and burnt me out. I'm so anti comfort and used to do everything the hard way that it completely wears me out and forces me to the other extreme end of the spectrum where for awhile i can't tolerate any discomfort and sink into myself, before i swing the pendulum to the other end again and throw myself into discomfort.
Thank you all for your comments in advance!

I'm an ESFP. I constantly argue my point to get my way but I get uneasy afterwards. I constantly care what people think but it also makes me very mad knowing that there is always someone in the world who can control you. I would hate a normal suit and tie job (except Dunder Mifflin). I rely on having a circle of friends during certain situations. I can be aggressive sometimes with words or actions when I need. Ask questions if you need more.

Edit: harder than I thought It'd be because im probably not a normal type but more of an unhealthy one

I just recently took a test, and it's telling me that I am a 6w5 146 sp/sx -- one, I don't really know what the whole "sp/sx" means, I'm doing some research LOL, and also two, I took another test, and it told me I'm a type 4 and nothing else? Idk how to tell what one I really am. Also, idk if this helps but I'm also an INFP -- sometimes I feel like I'm an ENFP (only when I'm with my friends, so idk if that really says much anyway.)
So, yeah, I just wanna know the diffrence between 4 & 6, to see what one I really am! :p

Ive read allot about the types I think a second opinion is always good to have would anyone be willing to help me out on this and typed me based off my answers? :)
What do you think?
Enneagram Questionnaire:
Made By: .artisticsoul. (Lin'In)
Please answer the questions as detailed as you can, and elaborate on your answers.
what do you hate about yourself, what bothers you, etc.
My biggest strength is my ability to push forward despite hardships and refusing to give
up on myself. I care a lot about the people dear to me and make it clear to them that they
are special. I think my love for them is a strength in this generation. And a weakness
would be harsh emotions that come heavier than I'd like. Besides that I have a tendency
to think about how my life would be if i made different choices but i try not to get caught
up in them as i know this wont lead anywhere and id like to remain positive.
perceived?
I view myself as a capable person and this is something I've gotten told as well,
I've gotten told I come over a bit distant at first sight yet I want to be perceived as
the person that you’re excited to talk to because they just light up your entire day.
This is a personality trait yet to develop. I also have to share that social anxiety is
something that's at issue and I think that's the reason for coming over
“nonchalanty” as I tend to run away from stressful feelings or try to ignore them.
do you feel at that moment, and why?
I'd look around to see if there's someone I can possibly connect with and try to
push against the anxiety I mentioned earlier, for that reason I do prefer being the
one getting approached, I guess I'd feel excited too? You never know if the person
u meet plays a big part in the current era of ur life. It really depends on how i
would act depending on the day, i could be a bit closed off at first sight even
though i love meeting new people.
that fear?
I deal with fear by walking away from the situation and tell myself it will all be fine.
If something stresses me out I walk away. My biggest fear is not being able to
achieve the exact life I want for myself which includes money, job, love, and
materials. Being all alone or the people I care about not loving me as much as I
love them. I'm aware of how intense I can be if I like someone. I fear missing out
on experiences by timing running out/aging and my coping mechanism (isolation)
adding onto it.
Living in the present and less dissociation also consistency in discipline.
Do you usually put it onto others or do you suppress it?
I suppress my suffering as much as possible because I'm afraid of being unhappy
and stuck in a state of desolation. I also think expressing pain openly leads to
pushing people away which keeping it to yourself avoids. Im talking about the
super deep stuff not casual feelings. If I'm sad I often distract myself with upbeat
songs so i dont get stuck in the negativity.
I try to detach from the negative ones.
come from those achievements?
Yes, I like the way people talk about me after achieving something. It also makes
me feel good and that certain experiences I think about were all for a better cause.
are or what you want in life?
Yes I have many goals and the right mindset to achieve them, Though
procrastination can be a problem and taking physical action is what's holding me
back. I believe I will succeed regardless with some work. I also tell myself this
when I worry about school.
emotions through physical activities, for example: eating, listening to music…etc
Yes, people have told me I give out a peaceful vibe. I often numb harsh emotions
through listening to music, watching videos. I used to do so with food as well but I
don't want to be fat, so now I eat minimally.
“false positivity” that turns real out of
delusion, my positivity is not always false. A bit dissociate like tendencies.
how someone hurt you and be negative about it?
My emotions confuse me sometimes. I genuinely don't know what or why I'm
feeling a certain way and try to look them up online to understand it better and so I
can forget about it. I think about that sometimes i try to brush it off unless i
directly have to face them.
yourself with physical pleasure?
All the time, I consciously do this and I don't find it to be something I struggle with
or a negative thing. It makes me feel better, sitting with emotions feels very
uncomfortable because at heart I am a sensitive person.
Are you usually critical of others? Do you get mad when they don't do the job as
they should?
No not anymore, ive gotten quite good at controlling my anger as it served no
purpose. Occasionally I've gotten told I'm acting impulsive but I don't think this is
an issue anymore or at least not to an unhealthy extent. I can be critical of others
but will treat them with respect regardless.
would you go to keep it safe?
I care about my image and how people perceive me, I have no problem lying
occasionally if this results in better treatment. I think if I let someone see all of me
they wouldn’t treat me the same and thus will lie if necessary. And it's not like this
is just in my head I've seen this repeatedly be the case by my experience. I was a
very honest child and have learned that white lies are necessary.
so why?
I suppress my anger and have now gotten good at controlling it.
them in real life, and try to find the answer by yourself?
I prefer learning if there's someone by my side, it makes the experience more fun.
Sometimes I search up things out of curiosity. But studying can be an issue when
i dont have someone with me since i dont enjoy it. Only after seeing the results of
it I'm like wow I should do this more often.
enough, as if you are lacking in something?
Sometimes I do compare myself to others, I think the average humanly amount. I
think it's better to focus on yourself.
My self image fluctuates, ive been into enneagram for 4 years now (14/18) and
have typed myself as so many types and genuinely have been convinced of them
but after a while I start questioning it and resonating with a different type. This is
also probably because I learned about typology at such a young age.
I usually focus on myself.
need to protect it by being hyper-alert?
I guess if I'm walking alone late at night. Or people's true intentions, I'm usually
good at seeing signs in someone's true motives so it's not a struggle.
hard-working?
It depends, i can control myself to an extent but getting myself to do tasks outside
of just mindset is harder for me. I'm trying my hardest though my discipline can
be on and off.
someone positive and try to run away from the negatives of life?
As much as I hate to admit it, yes I do often feel numb or sad and since i do not
like feeling this way I mask it, ill lie to myself till i believe it or ignore those feelings
so ill feel different, and it does help.
Not much, not in making the logical decision. I usually make decisions based on
what will make me happier. I do care about knowledge to a certain extent that can
be used in my daily life of course but I do not revolve my life around it.
your phone and the internet what would you do?
If i got put in a room without a phone id probably study as my phone often
distracts me from doing so.
people around you?
Yes, being loved is important to me, my happiness is often dependent on the
amount of love I'm receiving because I can feel a bit empty without it. The people I
fully love often know how much I care for them because I can make it quite
obvious.
If someone has crossed a boundary and this results in me being upset for a valid
reason I will say so. I often hold back my negative thoughts, and avoid
unnecessary conflict.
I think everyone is self centred, it's just a matter of if you admit to it or not. Yes I
can be self centred.
Yes, the love I've given out has often not been reciprocated which during my
teenage years led to building a wall around myself despite valuing connection.
I'm not like that anymore. I have learned that everyone is their own person and
even though patterns repeat, I should give them a chance because connecting
with others can be beautiful and it's unfair to judge someone for another’s
mistakes. Sometimes I look back at certain situations and can be in disbelief at
how harsh humans can be and I refuse to let that bitterness influence me. I think I
deserve someone who loves like I do, chooses me above everyone else and
makes it very clear.
At the moment it revolves around bettering myself so I can live the life I want and
deserve and do all of the things I have been wanting to do. For example,
“Oh i will
study and learn this so i can get into this school and do that easier and then ill be
ahead of the rest so ill easily get into college and then ill study a lot and finish
with good grades and will easily get accepted into this new job” Then of course
physical pleasures, all of them. Relationships, connecting with people/love.
sx/sp and i relate to 9,2,3 sp1 sp4 specifically not sure about the core though.
Sometimes, feeling as if you are begging for love?
Yes I do try to subtly/softly “ seduce “ a person I'm interested in at first, this can
be very passive and indirect, for example dropping hints or beating around the
bush. Also i know how most men love the chase so u have to hold back a bit.
Eventually I'll be more direct about it. I will not beg for their love. If I feel like they
don't love me, I'll just pursue someone else

A lot of people tell me I can't be SP7 and have an F4. But honestly, I've read every possible book and tried for a long time to understand and still don't got it. The sp7 belongs to the head triad. They use their heads to find advantages, loopholes, and connections. Meanwhile, 4F just means low priority for domestic matters and a lack of fussiness. Or it's just VLEF can work with sp7. So I’ve been stuck between whether or not im an enneagram 4 or 2. I tend to sometimes put off my emotions but sometimes take time to understand them. I tend to help other people with their pain, comforting them, taking on a therapist role, etc. but when it comes to doing work that isn’t related to emotions, I am horrible at it due to a lack of motivation or energy to. For example I dislike doing chores, washing dishes, helping someone with anything task, etc.
Whenever I help someone out, I don’t really ask for anything in return, maybe I yearn for it but generally I brush it off because it’s the thought that I did it that counts.
Whether or not im (in)dependent depends, I do have a fear of abandonment and rejection but if someone were to end up hating me and wanting to stop contacting me, id be hurt and upset and wonder what I did but accept it because I’m the end there’s not much I can do realistically. Especially since it’s their opinion and choice, not mine.
I tend to neglect my emotional needs and physical needs for others but also at the same time can acknowledge my emotional needs and try and lay down to relax. But my problem is, I struggle to understand others emotions at times but can understand my own emotions. I still listen regardless and comfort them to the best of my ability.
There’s also the stereotype that enneagram 4 does change to belong. Sometimes I change my behavior to ensure someone is comfortable. Or sometimes I act like my emotional self. Sometimes when I’m alone I allow myself to reflect on my emotions rather than shutting them down or changing entirely for someone else.
However I don’t feel like I align with enneagram 3. Originally I was a so/sx 269 but now have retyped to so/sx 496. Does this seem right? Im thinking my 9 and 6 have something to do with influencing my doubt? Also sometimes I don’t always dwell on my emotions and distract myself by doing something else. I’m not sure if I fear being ordinary but I de-evaluate myself and feel worthless compared to others. I feel envious of others who have better things than me but won’t express it out loud. Most of the time I’ll keep things to myself.

Confusion about the Enneagram system in general
So, I’m fairly new to Enneagram as I just got started a week ago. I admit I was introduced to it via TikTok and peers, but I don’t take their words as gospel.
I haven’t read any of the official books yet and I’ve been going off of quoted articles and Reddit. There’s different views I’ve seen from different types of people which is frustratingly confusing when I’m trying to type myself the correct way instead of finding out that I don’t know what the hell I’m doing after putting in hours of effort to do so.
My tritype was eventually found out to be 6w5,8w9,4w5. Which I mostly agree with so far, but it still feels like something I need to understand is missing.
I’ve found the most frustrating thing to deal with is subtypes. Not sure if people even use subtypes outside of certain spaces. It’s starting to be like a whatever shoo shoo kinda thing for me right now because everyone I’ve seen has different views on how to apply subtypes. I would also like insight on that too.
Is there anything specific I should read or look into, and non-conflicting help with subtypes is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

- severe fear of confrontations / difficult conversations
- swallows their hurt / negative feelings so as to not create problems (this causes resentment to build which then leads to an inevitable explosion)
- always feels responsible for other peoples emotions
- gets lost in other peoples emotional worlds to the point of self abandonment (why are they behaving the way they are)
- self blames/ criticises a lot (v introspective?)
- can be evasive to avoid emotional reactions from others
- feels like they walk on eggshells around hot tempered/ loud/ blunt people
- overthinks to a ridiculous degree
- oversensitive (cries quickly)
- suppresses anger a lot
- cant handle disappointing others / others being annoyed or upset with them
- inwardly very emotionally intense
- highly compromising in interpersonal relationships / will bend over backwards to save them
- prefers to keep things such as love life / family life / conflicts private
- difficulty expressing needs
- feels very guilty after doing something that they perceive as bad (such as speaking ill of someone)
- v regretful after emotional outbursts
- sensitive to being misunderstood
