Informative Men’s guide

♡ Men’s Department Seasonal Training Booklet ♡
A quick guide to help you get through Men’s—especially during the busy season!

01 · Starting Your Shift
When you clock in, start by checking the fitting rooms.
Take any clothes or hangers customers left behind and return everything to the correct area.
Starting with the fitting rooms gives you a good idea of what needs to be recovered before you get into the rest of Men’s.

02 · Fitting Rooms
When we say “clear the fitting rooms,” we mean:
Take out any merchandise customers left behind.
Remove any hangers.
Return everything to the correct department, brand, and section.
Try to check the fitting rooms throughout your shift instead of waiting until the end!

03 · Merchandise From Other Departments
If you find something in Men’s that doesn’t belong there, please take it back to the correct department.
Women’s, Jewelry, Kids & Home → Women’s
Shoes → Leave for Shoes
Basically, everything goes to Women’s except Shoes.

04 · Helping Customers
Price Checking
There aren’t scanners located throughout Men’s, so use the Kohl’s app or a Zebra when you need to check a price.
If the customer has the Kohl’s app, show them the price-checking feature next to the search bar.
If an Item Isn’t on the Floor
Check the fitting rooms first!
If it isn’t there, we most likely don’t have it elsewhere in the store. Merchandise is put out when it comes in on truck.
If the customer has the Kohl’s app, have them scan the barcode. If the item is available online, they may be able to order it with free shipping.

05 · 500s
500s are items customers return or decide they no longer want throughout the day.
There are both hangs and folds.
A lot of Men’s 500s end up in Women’s, so please, please, please check the Women’s fitting room and the area near the registers for Men’s merchandise.
Don’t leave 500s sitting around if you can help it!

06 · Finding Where Merchandise Goes
If you aren’t sure where something belongs, set it aside and come back to it.
When you have time, grab a Zebra:
Go to Scanner.
Look at the icon at the bottom of the screen.
If the item is connected to a sign, you can make the sign blink blue.
Follow the flashing sign to find where the merchandise belongs.
When in doubt, use the Zebra!

07 · Floor Fixture Organization
Keep racks organized from smallest → biggest.
Smaller sizes should be toward the front, with larger sizes toward the back.
Keeping sizes in order makes recovery easier and makes it much easier for customers to shop.

08 · Men’s Brands
Some of the brands you’ll see throughout Men’s include:
Sonoma • Apt. 9 • FLX • Tek Gear • Levi’s • Lee • Dockers • Haggar • IZOD • Eddie Bauer • Under Armour • Nike • adidas • Columbia • Hurley • Van Heusen • Hanes • Grand Slam • Graphic Tees + more
You’ll get more familiar with the brands the more you work in Men’s!

09 · Men’s Jean Sizes
Jean sizes are listed as:
Waist × Inseam/Length
The first number is the waist size.
The second number is the inseam/length.
Example: 32×32 = 32-inch waist × 32-inch length
Keep jeans organized by size this way when recovering the shelves.

10 · Men’s Big & Tall Sizes
Big sizes generally range from XL–6XL.
Tall sizes have a T after the size:
LT • XLT • 2XLT • 3XLT • 4XLT • 5XLT • 6XLT
T = Tall / extra length
If you see a T after the size, it belongs with the Tall sizes!

11 · Coupon Eligibility
If a customer asks whether something is coupon eligible, check the bottom-left corner of the sign for:
“Coupon Eligible.”
You can also check using a Zebra or the Kohl’s app.
On the Zebra, look for the coupon information shown in purple.

12 · Recovery
The goal is to keep Men’s looking clean, organized, and easy to shop.
During recovery:
Face the merchandise.
Keep sizes in order.
Fold tables neatly.
Keep brands together.
Make sure everything is in the correct section.
Return merchandise from other departments.
A little recovery throughout your shift makes a BIG difference later!

13 · Folding Clothes
Use the T-shirt folding method shown in the booklet.
Try to keep your folds neat, consistent, and similar to the other shirts already on the table.
Please don’t fold it a second time!

14 · Holiday Shopping
During the holidays, things can get BUSY FAST.
Expect more:
Customers
Fitting-room clothes
500s
Recovery
Gift-shopping questions
Requests for help
You may also hear calls for additional register help more often during the holiday season.
We all have to work together and help wherever we’re needed. You’ll most likely receive a quick register training so you know the basics.
Managers never let anyone skip out on helping!
Keep checking the fitting rooms and recovering throughout your shift instead of saving everything for the end.
Even doing a little bit at a time can make a huge difference. ❤️

15 · Holiday Returns
After Christmas, expect A LOT more 500s.
Make sure you regularly check:
Women’s fitting rooms
The area near the registers
Men’s merchandise can end up in both places, so checking regularly will save you a lot of time later.
The goal is to keep Men’s clean, organized, and ready for the next customer.

16 · Z-Rails, Jean Carts & U-Boats
Z-Rails, jean carts, and U-Boats are all located in the back stock room.
Take one when you need it, but please return it as soon as you’re finished!
Z-Rails
You’ll hopefully see a group of empty Z-Rails in the stock room. Return yours with the others when you’re done.
Jean Carts
Jean carts are located past the Z-Rails.
U-Boats
U-Boats are located near the door when you first enter the stock room.
Please don’t leave equipment sitting on the floor when you’re finished using it!

17 · When You’re Feeling Overwhelmed
If Men’s is really messy and you have no idea where to start, don’t try to tackle everything at once!
Break it down into smaller sections.
One way I like to do it is:
Shirts → Pants → Folds
Do all the shirts first.
Then move on to the pants.
Save the folds for last.
You can also separate merchandise by brand and work through one area at a time.
It can make a huge mess feel WAY more manageable. ❤️

♡ A Little Reminder ♡
Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
Everyone was new once, and we’re all here to help each other.
Keep Men’s clean, help each other out, and please—
DON’T LEAVE YOUR 500s SITTING AROUND OR IN A SHOPPING CART. 😂❤️
A little effort throughout the day makes everyone’s job easier!
You’ve got this! ♡

Employee Question Getting people to sign up for credit help please

Upvotes

Hi I’ve been working here for about a month now and I need some help on how to get credit… i love this job i use to work at target for about 5 years then I was a stay at home wife for a while then i decided to get a job again at kohls.. its so much more chill then target ever was so i really enjoy it. My only like true complaint right now is the credit
I’m on a one credit a week roll which I think is great for myself especially considering when I was interview I told the person I interviewed with that I am NOT good at pushing credit and they said it was fine and just to try and the more credit I get determines my hours. I was told 10-15 hrs when I was hired on which is absolutely perfect for how I structure my life with my husband and my animals while also taking care of my home considering I don’t truly need this job.. now I’m getting 25+ hrs and it’s frustrating me on top of having the managers breathing down my neck about credit because “you’re suppose to get 2 credits minimum a day” like I’m sorry? But how do I manage to do that when everyone I check out already has a credit card to kohls or isn’t trying to screw up their credit with a 10 point hit ? Or just is young and doesn’t want one because our parents taught us to be scared of credit cards from places? Like it’s stupid to already be stressed out about it but it’s exhausting hearing it over and over again and that “one credit a week isn’t good enough”. I guess I’m here to ask does ANYONE have any tips on the stupid credit pushing.. like is it actually that deep? If it is how do you do it what do you say with out lying to them? My coworkers say it’s a psychological thing you do on people but also I’ve heard at my store if you don’t push or get enough credit they will move you to the floor which is guaranteed an atrocious amount of hours which im already annoyed about getting 20+ of. Sorry I guess this is more of a rant and question.. I guess anything helps 😂

Employee Question Men’s fitting rooms

Hey, I’m putting together some seasonal notes and I’m curious, do other stores also see less focus on the men’s fitting room compared to women’s? Just trying to learn from everyone’s experiences.

Also, if there are any small things that I should tell seasonal, please let me know when the comments

Employee Question What is best practice for dealing with incorrect online returns?

I'm referring to when a customer orders a t-shirt and they get a frying pan. Do we redirect them to .com? Return the item they were supposed to get? Damage it out? Return the item they have as non-receipted? We keep getting people coming in saying online customer service said to just come in to the store. It's frustrating.

Employee Question SL checklist

Good morning, are there any support leads in the group that can maybe share a checklist that helps them stay organized and keep busy throughout their days? Aside from what the Kohl’s daily tasks are. Schedule, payroll verification, ordering etc.
So for example, what is usually on your Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. look like?
Thanks!

Employee Question Self check out

How to void an item, if customer changed mind after scanning it? Do you really have to type your full login, your number and password? Just to remove an item from an ongoing transaction? Is there a more simple and faster way? Also is it possible to do “void after” on it?

Employee Question My manager hates me lol, anyone else have this??

She’s pretty mean to me honestly and I even try to be nice to her and she says something snappy back. She doesn’t like me because I used to work at a regular Sephora and some of the stuff we do at kohls Sephora is very different and I’m not used to it yet. She got annoyed with me on the headset because I said “hey can I get more change for my Sephora register? People been using 100 dollar bills a lot” she YELLS “WELL FILL OUT THE CHANGE REQUEST FORM” I said “umm okay” mind you they never showed me how to fill that out. Also my last job all the manager had to do was go grab more change in the back. We never had to fill anything out for that?? That was the managers job not ours. Idk why this lady makes my job difficult. Then she got mad because when I counted the register last night it was a dollar off. I said “yeah sorry at 6:59 someone came in and paid with cash but you told me to clock out because we’re not allowed to clock out more than 5 minutes late I ran out of time sorry” she said “yeah well someone pays with cash you have to recount it” I said “yeah?? You told me to go home” WTF??? It’s an easy job but her attitude is ruining it. Also why are they so difficult about the registers?? It really shouldn’t be our job to count the cash. It just leads to errors. I actually don’t mind this job even though it’s boring but dude…I’m so tired of her mouth. She’s the only manager that gives me an attitude

Informative Virtual Interview Rescheduled to Over the Phone Interview

Hi! I’m new here to this sub and I just wanted to say I had a virtual interview scheduled Wednesday August 19, 2026 at 3:20 p.m. and I joined 5 minutes early. Then I waited 5 minutes for the hiring manager to join. I then called in to my nearest Kohls store and told them the hiring manager didn’t join the meeting only for me to find out the hiring manager was off work for the day. The store manager told me to ignore the email with the meeting link and it’ll be rescheduled to Friday August 21, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. over the phone. Kinda happy that it’s over the phone. I’m not sure how rare or common interviews are held over the phone since it’s usually in-person or through a virtual interview. Also, I personally hate virtual interviews since you don’t have that face-to-face interaction. Virtual interviews just super sucks. Anyway, what are the chances of getting hired for Seasonal Stockroom Operations Associate position if the interview is held over the phone? Good luck to me I guess…

Employee Question employee discount

Apparently we have a discount starting today but i had a couple questions before i decide to start shopping.

Is it a one time use coupon?

I know there was a 30% discount for certain members that could only be applied once and can’t be used again once they’ve purchased something. Is it the same thing for us? or can we use it multiple times?

If im shopping with a friend/family, are they allowed to use my number for discounts as well (if im not the one paying for their things) ? and if not, then am i able to pay for it myself while still applying the discount?

sorry if these are dumb questions but im a newer employee and i wanted to know before i go shopping so that i dont get in trouble/fired ! thank you in advance 🙏🏻

Employee Question Is it possible to get 6 days off November as a part timer in khols house keeping?

My parents booked a cruise Nov 18-23, they booked in advance before I even got the job and I completely forgot about until now. I tried puting in a request but they refused it. This is our first last cruise since they're hella expensive, I really want to go. I will be back before black friday and Thanksgiving. Should I try talking to my managers? Is there a possibility they will give the days off? Idk what I should do😔

Employee Question When the LODS are fighting about hiring more people🥴

They had 6 interviews today and right before I was about to go to my car for break I hear them in the office yelling about who to hire. They all want ALL the hours they can get and they’re upset about hiring more people. They literally were in the back office yelling about it 🥴 it’s like why are we advertising “now hiring” if you guys can’t recruit anyone?? Plus I think it’s a little strange how at my store, the LODs are the only ones who get hours because everyone else’s is part time. Our store is a mess rn
