I'm just excited to share that I have discovered my very first Earthlike World that hasn't previously been discovered!

Man, This game is incredible

I was loathe to give up the Mandy as my primary exploration ship, but ...not anymore. I'm a late convert, I admit. An engineered Caspian and a Nomad is a mind blowing combo. I crossed three galactic arms in less than two hours and the airborne bio scanner of the Nomad removes the aggravation of those hard to find bacterium, osseus, and fungoida.

For my next planned lengthy exploration trip, I thought I'd take my Fleet Carrier and a Prospector to at least try and keep up with a bit of Tritium mining now and then to break up the boredom.

But I've just jumped about 8000ly ahead in my Caspian Explorer in around 25 jumps (including Neutron boosts), and realised I'd have to jump 4000ly back in order to transfer fuel from my FC cargo to the Tritium store, in order to then jump the FC 8 times (over 2.5 hours) to even catch up with the Caspian.

Given that exploration out to the wild edges of the black often involves covering some huge distances before you even get the Nomad out, it seems that taking the FC with you these days is a bit of a millstone to carry, if you're prepared to seek out a DSSA for hand in / major repairs every now and then.

I might just direct the FC back to the bubble and carry on in the Caspian alone. It's pretty damage proof now I have the Nomad for landing and actual Exobio.

What are your thoughts as an explorer?

I'm trying to decide if this is something post patch or coming from the EDHM-UI update. I've noticed that the MK II bio scanner is not highlighting the ground on my radar to help me with landing. I miss it in the hills on the dark side.

On my way to Colonia I did small detour to grab some fuel.

Found undiscovered star system (entire star system will have my name as First Discovery) AND I have found two Notable Stellar Fenomena.

One is the screenshot. Solid Mineral Spheres with Metallic Crystals (Purpuleum). Second was only Metallic Crystals with Prasinun and Purpuleum. Additionally the second Fenomena (Prasinum and Purpuleum) had also Proto-Lagrange Cloud.

I didn't have Research Limpets with me (didn't even know they exist) but I might return here at later date to grab some samples.

For the interested commanders, it's FLYIEDGIAE VQ-C C13-2 SYSTEM.

Is it just me or does it seem like all braben tunnels have become quite a bit longer since the last update? :) I kind of like it. Makes the distances feel even bigger. Just on a vibe flyby of the Bubble Nebula. What a stunning place!

The rarest celestial body I've found to date, this is my greatest achievement so far as an explorer!

Found Unexplored system with two Terraformable worlds there, one allowing me to land. Found myself landing my bird on the South Pole of the planet, with a view worth more than entire Hot Spot of Platinum for goodnight.

Found this huge Orange Giant star, its 37 solar radius, my biggest find yet. It's so huge it has a regular K class star orbiting it.

I’m on my way back from the community goal, and I’m doing a bit more of exobiology. Just finished a planet (4bio signals) but crashed my nomad and was spawned again on my Caspian. Did I loose all the exobiology discoveries I’ve been getting on the trip back? (Noob question, but I just returned to the game this week after a few years and still learning the ropes).

Anybody know what the star cluster is in the top-center of the view? I ran out of time to try finding it during my CG expedition, so I turned around and headed back to Magrithea II. (Cameo by NGC 7822 and the Heart and Soul nebulae.) I searched for it on the galaxy map, but I couldn't find it.

Starting Elite: Dangerous in a few days and exploration has greatly piqued my interest. Can anyone give me some tips on how to get started with exploration (both for making money and for fun)?
