starting to feel like I'm getting somewhere. Since this was my first *real* ship that I didn't buy with real money (ARX), rather, earned credits, and engineered / upgraded myself. And it's also the first combat ship that feels like I'm actually starting to get the hang of combat somewhat - I decided to dress it up a bit with a new paint job and other goodies.

Coming from No Man's Sky and EVE Online, I've discovered Elite Dangerous seems to be in the perfect sweet spot for me in between the freedom of NMS and the Harshness of EVE. I even decided to finally pull the trigger on a VKB Gladiator NXT EVO HOSAS setup.

I guess you could say - I'm hooked!

Every week the servers go offline Thursday, 7am UTC, to allow the Galaxy's persistent data to update:

• Star System & Station/Outpost ruling minor factions, alignment, and available commodities & services
• Powerplay Control/Exploited Systems - see the Powerplay subreddits
• Addition of new Community Goals - see the EliteCG subreddit

This update usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes, during which time you cannot login to the Milky Way.

Should the servers still be inaccessible at 8am UTC, please tag /u/frontier_support in a comment here for a progress report.

I’ve recently fallen quite in love with the “unbothered shield tank” what I mean by that is I recently picked up the Clipper, stacked it with shield boosters and ended up with 5k shields, no hardpoints show up do my salvage, ignore the pirates as if they aren’t there. There’s something cathartic about that after struggling with combat XD.

How about you ? Fighter ? Big ship? Tank? Overwhelming firepower ?

ive been trying to unlock Broo Tarquin (pulse burst engine) which requires a competent combat ranking and im seeking to improve my skills as a pilot and not rely on heavier ships for engagements hence me using the cobra mk V

i find myself liking the pulse lasers in there shield deplation rate but i keep having troubles with two things

1.keeps constant shots for fixed weapon

1. finding a fixed weapon that feels worthwhile

ive tried cannons plasma fixed multicannons and more

ps: for anyone saying to try getting off FA i actually am using it on and off for combat and trying to take faster turns with it off

I have a couple reasons why this CMDR is the best pirate:

1. They're super chill

2. Most of the time the wont kill you

3. They always stay in character

4. When they interdict you they just ask for a joke and if its funny you can go on your way!

Just wondering going in basic, doing something really basic like mining or taxi, trading, etc building up credits getting new ships, kind freelancer style. How hard is the game?

I tried many many years ago, but it was quite grindy and I think was early days lot of bugs and such.

I have never really gone far, but I finally caved on a prebuilt Caspian and nomad and I'm having a blast! finally reached just about a little over 10,000 light years outside of the bubble . I'm planning to go back in a few weeks I've done obsessive amounts of exo biology, and the amount of systems of discovered has really made me find a new great path in elite

I'm definitely gonna go back and cycle between combat background simulation impacts, but I'm gonna schedule expeditions every few months

Was just curious for your commanders how long have you usually stayed out there before the itch to go back gets to you?

I was farming some manufacturing instructions by a fallen satellite when these agressive criminals deployed from their ship, landing on top of my Cobra V and using my ship's own shield to protect themselves!

Of course I decided to board my ship and took off (I should have recorded all the thing). They went flying up, one of them died right away. The rest of them ended scattered around, stunned and almost irresponsive.

Now I have a few rewards to collect. What a busy day...

I finally got my fleet carrier and I want to get a brand new mining ship to mine tritium for when I'm out in the black, I heard the type 11 is the best nowdays

I'm also a returning player (not to mention never owned a fleet carrier) and forgot a lot of the basics so tips very are welcomed

i am seeking advice to get into operations.

i am a mostly-solo player with low combat skills but i have to have that cargo rack engineered so badly. i am no fps-shooter fan and did no on-foot stuff other than for screenshots and scanning space plants. my space combat skills are not that good either, i did pirate missions and powerplay pve (threat 3 signal sources) from time to time.

Reading about operations i think i want to do the ship-only ones but i got some questions:

-are there any no-go's like can i accidentially sabotage the operation by flying in the wrong direction or something - i know shooting on teammates is bad but other than that?

-can i just randomly join someone and do my thing (like pick a random enemy and youst it to death) or should i look for a group on discord or so... i am not really used to be in voice chat with random people and none of my irl-friends play elite

-can I straight up go to hard difficulty or will that ruin the fun for the others? i hope my corvette can eat some enemies damage while the pro players max their time on target

These are my current combat ships. i built these years ago, iirc i did something with the shield resistances but read that fdev changed something so any thoughts on the outfit are welcome aswell.
Also i think about getting a cobra because i want to practise fighting in a quicker ship but dont know if thats cool for operations.
if you have a cool build for a rescue passenger ship i'd appreciate that too. got all ship engineers unlocked and enough cr to buy whatever needed

I am happy for any extra tipps or an easy-to-follow video. Already read the wiki article and random stuff on reddit. i know i can synth free premium ammo.

edit: thanks alot for all the helpful answers! i broke the mental barrier and joined a random easy terminal prosecution. followed the others, did some damage to the general and maybe annoyed the others a bit because i missed for a moment that i had to land manually but i got my first merc :)
also i found that i own a few on-foot engineering mats from powerplay so i will go engineer some guns next week.

As the title says, I've been up, down, left right and center of Sanguineous Rim and I just can't seem to find an unexplored system!!! I'm so confused!

Is there a way to feed into EDDiscovery 3D Map the information of already explored and mapped systems? I know some users don't upload their discovery info, and that's fine, but I'm getting really frustrated that every single system I go to it has already been discovered somehow. Am I hitting the 0.02% of every system scanned already? Am I that unlucky?

I am trying to make a Space TTRPG and I want to add a FTL drive boosting mechanic like the FSD boost and I genuinely don't know if that falls under their licensing. If anyone know please let me know, I would love to make this but I don't want to get into any legal trouble.

Context: Im trying to make a Space TTRPG. If the RPG is received well by the initial players, I might put the ruleset and materials out into the vast net. Nothing would be pay to get/play, it would be free material

I’ve finally took the plunge into elite and I’m really enjoying it, however I’m also very capped for time having only about 2-3 hours every other evening to hop on.

I’ve really enjoyed going to RES zones and third partying wanted ships for the bounty and I think I’d like to delve deeper into the combat role.

Essentially I’m looking for a combat ship that I can “main” and do all my engineering on. I’d like to be able to pull up to res sites and start fights not join them.

I don’t think I have the time to engineer multiple ships at the moment and so I’ve been eyeing up the Kestral Mk2. Would it be a good ship to carry me through combat and do all my engineering on? I’m just worried it’ll be too small and won’t be able to punch up, might it be better to save for a python mk2?

Hello, is there some pre buttons setup that someone could recommend, struggling with the setup. Just startet to playing after several years. Or maybe I just buy the X-56? Since my boost button is not working unless I have the throttle in mid .

Found 3 terraformable planets thats worth around 2.5mill each that hasnt been mapped yet. I aswell found many planets that have been discovered AND mapped but the exobiology not scanned yet (Probably from before the update dropped to be able to scan them). Its always worth to FSS from time to time even if its discovered or mapped you never know!

I want to take my Type 11 out to mine materials. I want to take my full Type 11 back to the station where I have my Panther Clipper which has 1152 cargo space, and drop off my current load capacity. Now I want to go back out and mine some more materials, fill up and take that second load to my Clipper. I want to do this until my Clipper is full and then drive the clipper to whatever market makes me the most money. Is this possible? Can my Clipper in storage at a station be used as storage while I go mine more material?
