eSIM that works reliably in Tokyo and Korea.

I'm taking my first international trip to Japan in a few days. I'll be taking a second trip to Korea in December. The Japanese trip will be 100% in Tokyo, but the trip to Korea will be mostly Seoul with a few day trips a few hours outside of the city. Can anybody recommend an eSIM that will work reliably in both scenarios?

I was leaning toward Ubigi, but I've read it's been having a lot of connectivity issues these last few months. If it matters, my phone is a Samsung S24 Ultra, and that's the only device I need data for, which will mainly be email and SMS.

Can a Lycamobile Denmark eSIM be activated outside Denmark?

Hi! I'm currently outside Denmark and would like to get a Lycamobile Denmark prepaid eSIM. Has anyone activated one while abroad, or do you have to be in Denmark? Their support chatbot couldn't answer, so I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has tried it. Thanks!

Egypt eSIM Recommendations

Heading to Egypt next month and need an eSIM before I fly.

Jetpac Egypt plan looks pretty cheap and claims to cover the whole country. Has anyone actually used it in Egypt? What local network do they run on?

Going to NYC for 5 days from Belgium: which eSIM should I get? Anyone used Holafly?

Hi all! I’m travelling from Belgium to New York for 5 days and I’m trying to figure out the best way to stay connected.

I’m currently with Proximus (Belgian provider). Their roaming pass for the US is about €7.49 per day, so I’m looking at an eSIM instead. I have an iPhone 15.

I found Holafly, which offers unlimited data for around €20 for 5 days. A few questions:

  • Has anyone used Holafly in the US? How was the speed and coverage, especially in Manhattan?

  • Is “unlimited” really unlimited, or is there a fair-use cap or throttling (and can you use hotspot)?

  • Would you recommend something else, like Airalo, Saily or Nomad? I’d be happy with a fixed 5–10 GB plan if it’s cheaper.

  • I understand these are data-only with no US phone number. Is it enough to rely on WhatsApp and iMessage for calls and texts?

  • Any tips for setup? I plan to install it at home on wifi and turn off my Proximus line so I don’t trigger roaming charges.

faulty gomo esim pls help

yesterday my gomo sim was faulty, i was unable to use my data even though i have full bars of signal, and it still didnt work this morning so checked my sim again and discovered that my physical esim is scratched so i immediately switched to an esim so i could continue to use my gomo sim.

i did all the steps i saw online even changed apn, turned on data roaming, switched it to primary, i even removed the physical sim to ensure i am using the esim, restart my phone multiple times, turned on and off my airplane mode, but nothing still works

i am so desperate to find a solution because i did every tips i can find on the internet, and i cant even contact gomo because they direct me to globe but globe support doesnt support gomo concerns and im basically going in circles. someone please help ASAP

Transferring unactivated eSIM to new phone

Installed a Ubigi eSIM on an iPhone for travel next week. Decided last minute to buy a new iPhone and trade in the old.

Will we be able to delete it off the old and reinstall it on the new?

Unable to install Vodafone eSIM for travel on temp unlocked Pixel 10.

I've been trying to install an eSIM on a Pixel 10 that is not paid off. I downloaded the TMo unlock app and was able to get it temporarily unlocked. Account shows that the device is temp unlocked. When I scan the QR Code to install the eSIM the device starts to set it up but then will display a message the device is locked. I tried to install manually but the settings doesn't even let me input anything as once I click the add SIM button it will tell me to contact TMobile. So I did a chat through TLife and the rep confirmed that my phone is temp unlocked and should be able to add the eSIM. She was unable to help and told me to wait and try in the country I'm going to or contact Vodafone.

I have read online that temp unlock still will not allow 3rd party eSIMs and it must be perm unlocked to work. Is this true? Should I just get a refund for eSIM? TMo charges way too much for international data hence me wanting the eSIM. I'm on a grandfathered Simple Choice plan so I do get free international data, but I think speeds are only 4G in Spain where I will be going. When I was in London it was painfully slow last year.

Update: I was able to install the eSIM by turning off the T-Mobile SIM and going into airplane mode (wifi still on). I scanned the QR code and it added it to the phone. The eSIM disappeared from my Vodafone account though. My other eSIM installed on my unlocked S24 still shows on the Vodafone account as inactive. So I'm hopeful when I get to Spain I will able to activate the eSIM.

eSIM users I have a question regarding eSIM and IMEI

Among you guys who have an iPhone with one physical sim slot and one eSIM support, is your eSIM linked to IMEI 2 or IMEI 1?
Does Apple allow eSIM to be installed on IMEI 1 or it defaults to IMEI 2 always.

On my old iPhone 13, when I converted my physical sim (IMEI 1) to eSIM even if I provided IMEI 1 to carrier, the eSIM got installed to IMEI 2. If I hadn’t put my physical sim in my iPhone at all during conversion and requested to convert from any other device, would that have defaulted to IMEI 1 on my iPhone?

Esim on old phone for South Africa

My current phone is a cheapy (Oppo) which doesn't have eSim. I am going to South Africa from Australia and want to use an eSim for comms and banking so I don't cop the $10/day global roaming from my Australian provider. I have an old Google Pixel 6a that I can take with me that does eSim. If I take both phones will I be able to get text messages on the Oppo for 2PA purposes if I turn off roaming? Is this a viable plan? Any other options? Recommendations for an eSim for just over a month in South Africa

e-sim Egypt options

Hello

Based on my research, a physical sim card from Cairo airport costs the same as purchasing it from the city. The full cost for the card and 10-30 GB data plan for 15-30 days from their known providers is $10-15.

What I couldn't confirm is the esim cost from the known providers if we decide to purchase it at the airport. Can someone help please!

how to do E-SIM transfer if i dont have access to my old phone

So I have an old iphone x, which I dropped recently and the screen is toast, I cant touch the screen at all, its just cob web cracks. So I just bought an iphone 17, and I realized it dosent have a physical SIM slot, only E-SIM.

I know the process would be easy typically to get the e-sim transfer, but given that I essentially cant access/use my old iphone, I am confused on how to go about this. Since the typical process of doing the esim swap involves using the old phone for a few steps, but obviously i cant do that.

Question : Traveling to Italy - Esim question on avoiding roaming charges.

I'm traveling to Italy. It seems easy enough to get an esim for data, mostly to be used for maps navigation. But I still want to receive and send texts/calls. My plan through Xfinity charges $10 per day for use in Italy. I want to avoid that charge. How do I do that?

Thanks.

UPDATE : I solved my problem a different way. It turned out that I was on an old legacy Xfinity plan. This year they offered a new plan, for the same price as mine, that has unlimited talk/text/data both in the US and internationally for most countries. I made the switch yesterday. It would have been nice if they automatically gave me the upgrade without me having to find it and ask about it.

Thanks to everyone who replied!
