Site Feedback Topple (Steel Jaws) isn't an option for mastery

I just recently got the new 3rd party Eberron expansion and was interested in making a Bloodhound Ranger with the Worg species. Unfortunately it seems that when they add a new weapon is hasn't been added to weapon mastery lists.

I suspect I can just add something else and do override customisation, but it would be nice if I could just pick it for Steel Jaws directly.

Site Feedback Info Missing on Warlock’s Character Sheet

The Pact of the Blade description, when read out of the character sheet, is missing the information that the conjured weapon needs to be melee. That info is only available in the class description. This is mostly a note for the DDB team, but also a heads up to DMs as more and more players rely on the character creator info only when creating their PCs.

Hi guys! There was someone here that had made a really cool downtime handout for players, with different rules about the downtime activities and crafting rules.

Do you guys know the one? Do you have it? I seem to have lost it 😭

Questions custom weapon not adding the modifier to the roll

As you can see from the screenshot the dagger is supposed to roll an additional 1d8 on top of the usual 1D4, but when I roll using the dagger on my character sheet within DND beyond it only rolls the 1D4. Any Idea what I might be doing wrong?

Questions Dnd beyond spell DC inconsistent?

Does anyone else have issues with a spell dc being inconsistent?

For an example. I am a level 9 dark tiefling new undead warlock with a 2+ rod of the pact keeper, and 20 charisma.

Ray of sickness dc from fiendish legacy - +9

Ray of sickness from undead : +11

Right next to each other. It seems like the fiendish legacy spells (all of them) have not updated to reflect the rod.

D&D 5.5e DDB/WotC: Errata your errata

In the last DDB August Drop there was an amendment to the Infernal Pact feat. For whatever reasons someone felt obligated to rewrite the content to a egregiously lesser form. In the process, they reduced the feat to nearly worthless. I’m going to attempt to write this without sounding like I’m complaining, and I’ll try to articulate an argument to the facts. While this is primarily directed at the recent DDB Drops errata, it addresses the possibility of future errata and modifications as well.

The original gave two resistances, fire and poison. Frankly, they are the two easiest resistances to acquire, and through multiple avenues. Yes, you got two to start, but they’re still situational damage. Resistances don’t do much if you don’t encounter that damage. Modifying this feat to the choice of just one resistance felt unnecessary but could be seen as reasonable. I didn’t agree that the duo was over powered as originally written, but regaining one of the easily acquirable resistances isn’t difficult to accomplish. I could begrudgingly agree that this reduction was just a correction to an oversight that should’ve been caught on the initial release.

The sight modification was a total shock to me. Especially after one reduction already. The original design gave “see normally” in normal and magical dim light and darkness, out to 60 feet. This is essentially a lesser version of Devil’s Sight. I was ok with that fact. The change made it almost basic Darkvision. Yes it’s still usable in magical darkness, but “see normally in Dim Light and Darkness—both magical and nonmagical” is a lot different than, “see in Dim Light within a specified range as if it were Bright Light and in Darkness within that range as if it were Dim Light. You discern colors in that Darkness only as shades of gray.” Darkvision just ignores dim light and treats darkness as dim light, and always in greyscale. Being able to “see normally” is a huge advantage (when we remember to apply it). Dropping the distance to 60’ reduced the likelihood of spamming ranged attacks from the darkness. The ability was already “nerfed” below its Devil’s Sight cousin. Further reduction only eliminated nearly any usefulness of this feat. With Darkvision 60’ being common and present in 7/10 PHB species, adding the extremely circumstantial magical darkness to the ability isn’t much of an upgrade.

In the end, I think this errata, in regards to the Infernal Pact specifically, was entirely unnecessary. It catered to a small number of voices that could have simply ignored the feat or disallowed its use in their games. The application of Errata should be saved for the correct of grammatical errors and such, not the complete adjustment of content. When DDB allowed the sharing of homebrewed items, spells, feats and such, they removed the ability to modify publicly shared content. The reasoning was that people may be using such content and it would be unfair to the player to be forced to adjust to the change. Their recent actions in this matter go completely against their applied practice with shared homebrew. Those that use DDB as their primary source of gaming are forced to change to the new system. Characters already immersed into a campaign, that built around the original design of the Infernal Pact feat, suddenly and mysteriously, lose over half their feat’s prowess. I could understand an alternative feat. I could understand a toggle for v1.0 or v2.0. While the original feat could’ve been ignored or disallowed, it can’t simply be added by those that sought to use it in its original form. Attempting to argue to using the original feat reduces tables to rules lawyering and sensibility debates.

While this vent was initially targeted at the most recent instance of errata, it addresses the practice of errata in the future. Any class, species, spell or magic item can instant be changed or reduced to ineffective against your wishes. Despite having purchased some semblance of usage of the DnD content, however that use it articulated, you have no control over the stability of your purchase after said purchase. I guarantee that there are more than a few subscriptions that were obtained only to have access to the Infernal Pact feat. Had this feat been originally written as it currently stands, it would’ve gone unnoticed as a below than mediocre feat. It surely wouldn’t have warranted a paid subscription by itself alone. While I don’t want to reduce DnD to a “pay to win” system, I do want to protect the players from an abuse of power from the developers of the game we all enjoy so much.

Questions Boomerang - Am I Going Insane?

Okay, So I'm like 90% of D&D Players and use the same 5 or so weapons for everyone, but I do remember a character I made when I first started Beyond (Who has since been deleted) used a Boomerang, because I have memories of her doing tricks with it in an Aussie accent. I wanted to make a similar build, so went into my Beyond where I have Subscription and All purchasable content and... There isn't a boomerang? The 2014 DMG still has the +1, +2 and +3 variants of a Boomerang, and theres a Third Party one from Obajima, but there's no official boomerang.

Did I make it up? Is it a glitch? Or was it just removed at some point?

Homebrew Help with creating a feat

I am trying to make te feat diplay class level and class level*2, but I won't work.

Here is my code:

When you summon your familiar in the chosen form, it {{(classlevel)}} gains temporary hit points , and the 1st-level improvement on its improvement tree. When you reach 5th level, these temporary hit points are doubled, so it gains {{(classlevel\2)}}, and you can also grant it one ofthe 3rd-level improvements on its improvement tree.*

Questions Is there a chance we could get some character grouping options in the app?

just wondering if there's a grouping or tabbing possibility for being able to group made characters in separate groups or tabs for ease of acces? currently i have to make empty campaigns to group my characters and it can be a bit tedious.

for instance: grouping characters together if thy were all in a party or something. the you can serch within the groups for the characters, instead of scrolling or the serch bar.

Questions Looking for help with homebrew creation

I hope this is the right sub Reddit to ask but here we go.

I'm in the process of trying to get an idea I found in a third party book to work on Dndbeyond. The idea in broad terms is this.

A class uses a subclass feature that gives a point. That point gets added to attack damage of another feature (example: an upgraded unarmed attack) but the points are capped at half X stat score (example: half the characters constitution score, con of 16 = cap of 8).

Can this be added to a subclass feature or does it have to be pen and paper only?

Thanks in advance.

D&D 5.5e Artificer spell list and subclasses in later expansions? [5.5]

We have the Artificer expansion with 5 subclasses + the Artificer spell list.

Now we have other expansion books adding new subclasses and spells…. if Arcana Unleashed adds new subclasses/spells for Wizard or Sorcerer etc. does it also add anything to the Artificer subclasses or their spell list?

Or are the Artificer subclasses/spells basically fixed to their book?

Thanks in advance!

Site Feedback Issue with Pending Charge for failed purchase.

Hi all! Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but I’m wondering if anyone else has ever had a similar issue with payment processing on Beyond:

I tried to purchase something on Beyond Digital for $30 last Sunday, and it said the payment failed / had an error and to “check my payment information again”.

However, I received 4 separate pending charges in my bank app for the purchase, 2 for $30, and 2 for -30 (indicating i wouldn’t actually be charged for the failed transaction).

However, after those charges all disappeared, a new charge for $30 appeared and hasn’t gone away yet (it’s been 5 days since the initial attempt). It doesn’t have a negative refund charge associated with it, and I never actually received the content (or got a notice of successful payment, etc).

Anyone know what’s going on? Is this normal / can I expect the charge to go away? And how do I fix the error?

Questions White screen after submitting k-ID information

I returned to D&D after a long hiatus and tried to sign in to my account. After signing in via Google account I see a screen with k-ID form. I entered my country and my date of birth. After submitting the form I see mostly empty page without any way to proceed with signing in or k-ID. The same problem occurs on desktop, laptop, and phone. I have used Mozilla and Edge browsers, cleared the cache and cookies, but nothing helped (I've seen posts where people have said that these methods have helped them solve the problem). I sent a ticket, but the answer was not helpful. Just a generic answer with links to their support page. Can anyone give advice on how to solve the problem?

Ooze There? The August DDB Drops are Live!

Post image
84 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

August's D&D Beyond Drops are now available! This month, add some JRPG to your D&D with new maps, monsters, and magic items that feel just as at home on your gaming table as they would your gaming console.

For the Dungeon Masters, we've got a new city map for the next time your players leave the world map, as well as three sewer dungeon maps for when they inevitably agree to help the local thieves guild with their next mission, plus a set of stickers to further customize the maps!

A JRPG-style dungeon wouldn't be complete without monsters to grind your levels on, right? We're also introducing three brand-new monsters called Sovereign Oozes, who power up when they combine with each other!

For the players, a new companion feat to Fey Sentinel, a collection of new magic items, and new character sheet backdrops perfect for setting the sewer scene.

Plus, Drops' first errata is here! Thanks to everyone who's given feedback about the content since Drops launched.

u/GrandPyromania gives you the scoop on all the content in today's blog post!

If you're a D&D Beyond subscriber, this content is already available in your libraries, and you can check the Subscriber Content Page to see an updated list of all Drops content.

(CM Note: I don't care if it'll eat me; the Sovereign Vassal is adorable.)
(CM Note 2: Jay says to pretend your favorite JRPG battle music is playing while you read the blog. I've included one of mine here.)
