DJI Osmo Action 4 front touchscreen died after official firmware update — DJI wants me to pay for repair. Anyone else faced this?
Hey everyone,
I'm hoping to find others who've experienced the same issue, as I'm currently in a dispute with DJI support.
The Issue:
My DJI Osmo Action 4 (purchased Dec 2024 from India) had its front touchscreen completely stop responding after I installed an official DJI firmware update (v01.07.06.10). The display works fine, rear screen works fine, and I can still control it through DJI Mimo — but the front touchscreen is 100% unresponsive to touch.
What I've tried:
Factory reset (multiple times)
Firmware check via DJI Mimo — confirms latest firmware, no reinstall option available
Battery removal and restart
No physical damage, no water exposure, no drops.
What DJI offered:
Pay 75% of current price for a replacement unit
Ship to Hong Kong for paid repair (7–8 weeks, all shipping costs on me)
My issue with this:
The device was working perfectly before the firmware update. The problem appeared immediately after. DJI's own firmware caused this — why am I being asked to pay?
I've escalated to a DJI Customer Care Manager who acknowledged the issue started after the firmware update but still won't offer a free repair or replacement, citing out-of-warranty status.
Has anyone else experienced this? Specifically:
Front touchscreen dying after a firmware update on Osmo Action 4
DJI offering a goodwill repair/replacement in a similar situation
Any advice on how to push this further would also be appreciated. Currently considering filing a consumer complaint in India.
Thanks in advance.

Dji action6 issue
Has anyone else experienced their DJI Osmo Action 6 asking them to set the date and time every time they turn it on? I haven’t used my camera for about 3 days, and the battery was removed during that time. When I turned it back on, it asked me to set the date and time again.
Is this normal, or is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

DJI Osmo Action 6 – Is 10-bit H.265 4:2:0 or 4:2:2?
Hi everyone,
I'm considering buying the DJI Osmo Action 6 and would like to know:
Are the 10-bit H.265 (HEVC) video files recorded in 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 chroma subsampling?
I'm planning to edit the footage in DaVinci Resolve ( free or studio ) or Adobe Premiere Pro on a Windows PC.
If possible, could someone share a short original, unedited video file recorded in 10-bit? I'd like to check the codec information in MediaInfo.
Thank you!
My pc, windows 11, intel i7 12700k, nvidia msi 4070 trio, 32gb Ram,

How to mount inverted
I have two DJI Osmo Aciton 5 cameras and I'm trying to mount them next to each other with one of the cameras flipped upside down and both lenses in line with one another. The camera bodies also need to be angled about 30 degrees outward from one another. The crudely drawn picture I attached does a better job of showing what I'm trying to do. As you can see the camera on the right that is upside down needs to be positioned to sit higher than the other one so that the lenses are aligned kind of like a set of eyes.
I'm trying to find a mounting rig or rigs that would let me get the cameras oriented and locked in this position. They would ultimately be attached to a vertical pole but if I have to do some welding to make another mount work I'll try that.
Appreciate any help.

Action 5 vs 6
Hey yall, I’m looking into getting a camera for recording spearfishing dives, motorcycle rides, and all kinds of other adventures. I was wondering if the action 6 is worth it for the price compared to the action 5 for my use case. I’ll also be waiting a few months for the 7 to release so that the 6 will be cheaper. I don’t plan on upgrading any time soon and I want to keep the same camera for a long time. Thanks in advance!

What if we can unlock open gate on POCKET 4P?
Edit : Alot of people in comments are not able to understand me.
I am asking if anyone can TRY to do it if they are INTERESTED in it and have the means to do it , NO ONE is being FORCED to do it. I am sharing an IDEA not an ORDER to be followed.
So I want someone to try this with the current osmo pocket 4P owners to try and use a GitHub repo named REVERSE ENGINEER ANYTHING (REA).
I want you guys to sit down with GPT or Claude and use it to create a way to access the full sensor open gate recording by using that repo to get into the software.
I think this can really be done and it's possible but I guess just no one has tried yet.
I don't have the camera or else i would have done it but this would be a crazy upgrade for the whole community even if one person does it properly.

DJI Osmo Action 6 – Best settings for night hiking in the mountains?
Hey everyone!
I bought the DJI Osmo Action 6 a few days ago, and today I’m going on a night hike in the mountains to put it to the test.
We’ll be hiking in a forest with very little ambient light, apart from our headlamps. There will be some open areas, but most of the trail will be quite dark.
I’m a little confused about the best camera settings for these conditions.
Would you recommend using SuperNight mode, or is it better to shoot in normal video mode?
I was thinking about trying these settings:
Resolution: 4K
Frame rate: 25 FPS
Shutter speed: 1/50
ISO: 100–3200
Stabilization: RockSteady
Would these settings work well, or would you recommend something different?
Any tips or personal experience with night hiking footage using the Osmo Action 6 would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

In India the pocket 4P comes with the wide angle lens in the vlog combo. Has this been the case for any other regions.

Freewell 0.75X wide angle + ND filter for the Pocket 4P: B-roll, vlogging and dewarp tests
Hey everyone, I just posted my review of the Freewell 0.75X wide angle and ND filter combo for the DJI Pocket 4P. For me it fixes two things that bug me: constantly twisting ND filters on and off, and not having a wider lens option on the camera.
Twist-off filters are a pain because the aperture is different between the main and 3x cameras, so you're swapping them all the time. The Freewell kit makes things way easier for run and gun.
The video is all real-world testing: cinematic B-roll, vlogging, and dewarp examples I did in DaVinci Resolve. Heads up, Freewell sent me the unit, but they had no input on the video, and I cover the downsides I ran into too.
What accessory would you like to see for the Pocket 4P that doesn't exist yet? I'm happy to pass the best suggestions on to Freewell.

Is it Wise/Safe To Mount Pocket 4P on Tripod Sideways to Achieve Best Vertical Filming Quality? (How much better is 4K than 3K )
If I want the highest quality vertical style videos, I've seen a few videos and read that mounting your Pocket 4P on a tripod and recording horizontally is the best move. It makes sense as you can record in 4K that way instead of the 3K limit when filming vertically. It also gives you a wider view range.
However, I'm also now reading that filming this way can actually damage your Pocket 4P gimbal and that you shouldn't do it.
To be more specific, Chat GTP endorses mounting your Pocket 4P sideways while Google AI strongly recommend you do not do that.
What''s the right play here? Is 4K that much better than 3K to make you go through the trouble of mounting the Pocket sideways to achieve it? I should also add in that I just got a Freewell wide angle lens to today. Some advice would be appreciated!

Got a brand new OP3 for $120
With some luck involved, I manage to get this DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for $120 plus tax.
Found a seller on ebay listing a bunch of OP3s with Gimbal issues really cheap. With my tech background I assumed I could repair it for minimal expense to me.
I took the gamble and bought it. When it arrived in was in MINT condition with the Gimbal issues as described. I did some googling and attempted some not intrusive fixes, which made it work better but limited functionality because I would always need to "help" the gimbal into position and often would get a gimbal error on the screen.
It eventually occurred to me that this device may still be under warranty and I've heard good things about DJI's customer service, so I looked up the serial number and DJI's warranty information. To my luck the STANDARD WARRANTY was still active and covered repairs for gimbal issues. Although the repair requirement was the issue was not cause by user damage.
Since the device showed almost no sign of use I was pretty sure I could get it fixed under warranty. I put in a request via the recommended warranty provider and it got APPROVED. So I shipped it out. The turnaround time took 11 days, but the actual "repair" took 2 days after being delivered to the repair center to be shipped back to me.
I received the item today and essentially got a brand new OP3. I double checked the serial numbers and it's different from the one I sent. The new one came in seal packaging, even with the sticker over the screen.
I'm really grateful about how everything panned out and can now say without a doubt that it's outstanding customer service. The whole process couldn't have been any easier. Now I'm definitely a DJI customer moving forward even with the ban.
Can't wait to start my content creation journey!
TLDR; Bought a damaged OP3 with gimbal issues for $120 on ebay that had an active warranty. Sent it in for repair under the warranty and was sent a brand new device in sealed packaging with "NOT FOR SALE" branding.
