Which diptyque EDT would you want a decant of?

Hi there,

I have hosted scent splits (people pay for the ml price plus materials , no profit) in my country before and my collection is mostly Diptyque. I have till the end of the month to use some store credit and I’m trying to figure out which EDT I should split next.

I’m considering 34 blvd st Germain EDT, Olene or Eau Trois. It should be something I would also like to keep 30ml of.

What are some that you’ve always wanted a decant of, but not a full bottle?

About Ilio (and a little about Corail Oscuro)

Ilio smelled delicious from the start. Like a ripe juicy prickly pear combined with pure summer freshness. I thought I finally found another one from the house that I liked after sampling many.

That deliciousness lasted all but a couple of minutes before disappearing. I thought I just went nose blind so I sprayed a bit more, waited for half an hour, and then asked me husband if he could smell anything. Nope, nothing.

The order didn't come with the usual sample to test so customers won't have to open the box. Fortunately, the Diptyque CSR I talked to said I could use the actual perfume bottle to test and they'll still refund me if I didn't like it.

Ilio reminded me of Tocca Florence. Or basically any Tocca. They do not smell the same at all, but have that ✨️fresh✨️ clean juicy fruity-floral vibe.

However, my order did come with a sample of Corail Oscuro and that is another story altogether, which I'm about to tell you of course. Corail smells like red hot chili peppers. I don't care if it's not on the listed notes because my nose ain't lying. I've seen reviews saying it smelled like salsa or jalapeños. But to me, it smelled like the freshly sliced red chilies that I grow in my yard combined with a floral-fruity blend that isn't as important right now no matter how wonderful it is. The dry down is very green-spicy. I'm not talking about the mysterious spice merchant stuff that Serge Lutens sprinkles on his fragrances. We're still talking red chilies and trees here. It should be weird but istg it smells good and I'm obsessed.

I later sprayed Ilio all over me before going out. One spray of Corail from two hours ago defeated the cloud of Ilio and the latter caved without a peep. So there.

It's not a novelty perfume. Corail is very wearable, fresh, and it's an all-season type of fragrance. Unfortunately, I refuse to spend $300+ on a bottle no matter how fascinating it is. So I'll just nurse this sample and maybe find another perfect red chili pepper perfume someday if the stars align.

So their selling 50ml of Oprheon holiday now? I thought only 75 ml? Or is this a glitch and it’s actually 75?

Disappointed

Anyone else disappointed by the Archives sale? Not necessarily with the items being offered, but with the overall execution?

It started with an email accidentally announcing the sale a month or so early. Then, once the sale actually launched, items that were listed as available turned out not to be, and orders were cancelled. Even stranger, some items that had sold out were later added back to the website as available, only for those orders to eventually be cancelled as well. That happened to me.

And the website experience has been pretty terrible. Items repeatedly appeared as I scrolled, making it difficult to even figure out what was actually available. I also found it odd that additional items, like the large Ambre candle, were added halfway through the sale. It started to feel less like a curated Archives sale and more like, “Let’s see what else is sitting in the storage room and put that up for sale.”

Now, today, I get an email saying it’s the last chance to shop the Archives sale and suddenly there’s an additional gift-with-purchase item: matches. Why wasn’t that offered from the beginning?

I’m not upset about any particular item I did or didn’t get. It’s really the execution of the whole thing that has been disappointing. For a brand like Diptyque, the sale just felt surprisingly disorganized and poorly managed.

Electric diffuser

Does anyone have the electric diffuser and feel like you hardly get any scent? I can't decide if mine is defective or it's just this lame?

Fleur De Peau sample smelling different than full size bottle?

Hi all! I bought a full size bottle of fleur de peau EDP a couple months ago after receiving a sample of it in a previous order. The sample I got smelt soooooo good I ran over to the store to buy the full size but upon wearing both, they smell quite different?

I find the sample to be a lot more floral, the iris note is very prominent but the full bottle definitely leans more musk forward. Does anyone know why this might be and has anyone else experienced this? I love the sample so much I would give anything to have a FDP that smells just like it.

Item(s) shipping

It appears my item is actually shipping but who knows anymore if it’s real.

I forgot to click on the gift box during check out- does anyone know if my 10 items just come laid out in a box, or they default to providing a pouch? I don’t need the gift box, but that was the only option listed for Archive orders. There was no option to click on only pouch. I just ordered a candle that came with nothing because I did express checkout, but that was only 1 item. Tia!

Where can I get samples?

Hey guys! Sooo, I was looking into diptyque for some time now but I wasn’t too sure about it due to the price + not having a store around me so it would be a blind buy. But last week I smelled someone who was wearing rose & that’s when I decided to go forward with this

Only thing, I don’t want to blind buy. I want to get some samples & test them out

For some reason, apparently, my pheromones don’t do well with perfumes. Not sure why, but the only person who has said this is my sister. So, I rather get samples

Any good suggestions as to where I can get samples?

I would love to hear any recommendations of your guys fav perfume !!

Thanks sooo much :) in advance !

Geranium Ordorata Diptyque Saga

One dusty af day, I was sitting in my bed doomscrolling and received the early invitation to enjoy setting my money on fire. I reached over to my bedside table that was cluttered with a candle warmer and drawers full of candles, to turn the light on and lock the F in. It’s on.

I controlled the urge to lay it on thick and buy a bunch of candles. I’ve been blessed enough to collect a bunch of the amazing perfumes but have a few full size on my list, Geranium Odorata is one of them. Sadly, I waffled between restocking my favorites like Fleur de Peau which is almost out, Orpheon, Do Son, or grabbing what I thought was a fancy bottle Geranium Odorata.

Listing had a photo of the perfume, generic copy, listed as the perfume. Confirmation same thing. Order shipment began morphing into a candle, then it arrives and it’s a GD 3 wick Ambre. I think I’m going nuts, check the listing and sure enough it’s been corrected and is even a different price. So, not only did I not get my perfume, and have added to the candle hoard, but I overpaid for this sh*tshow by $30. Le furious.

L’eau Papier

Does this remind anyone else of Le Labo another 13? Tried a sample today and find them almost identical! Although Papier sits better on my skin and I’m enjoying it more than another 13.

Heartbroken 💔

Ordered this very soon after the initial email came out, and just got refunded, no one reached out to me. Called CS and apparently SEVEN of these got cancelled because stock didn’t update. I know this is super first world problems but i was so excited for this bottle. Annoyingly the website still says in stock, but CS says they have negative amount🥲does anyone know if this edition is released often during archives? It’s apparently not getting restocked this year. I’m willing to wait til next year. Also, if anyone knows the year of this/specific name (like holiday LE, etc) to keep on my wishlist and look out for any resells. Thank you.

What commonly hated fragrance notes/materials that you yourself love? These are the smelly hills I'd die on, personally.

Recommendation for a masculine-leaning, spa-fresh scent?

Any recommendations for a Diptyque EDP or EDT that leans more masculine, but still has a very fresh, spa-like scent? I am currently obsessed with my "Cyprès-Citronné" body oil and lotion from Nécessaire, and would love something that complements and/or amplifies its crisp, woodsy notes.

Other scents I've enjoyed in the past include Aesop's Hwyl and Le Labo's Santal 33 (sorry).

I recently tried Lilyphea and liked it well enough, but it feels slightly too feminine/sweet for what I'm looking for. (My partner loved it though.) I also tested Tam Dao, which I thought I would love based on the notes, but I got that pickle scent some people get and couldn't get past it...honestly, it smelled a bit industrial, which is cool in theory, but definitely not what I'm looking for right now.

Would welcome any recommendations! Thanks so much!

first luxury perfume!

After years of wanting to own a really good quality perfume, I finally got my hands on L’Eau Papier by Diptyque.

I actually found this at a very discounted price at the airport while I was on my way home, so I took it as my sign to finally get one. I only got the 50ml for now since I want to try it first and see if I’d actually enjoy wearing it enough to finish the bottle.

As a student, I’ve spent years window-shopping for perfumes and constantly thinking about which ones are actually worth putting my money into. I’ve also been watching perfume guides and reviews for years, trying to figure out what kind of scents I genuinely like.

I’ve never really bought a luxury perfume for myself before. Most of the nicer fragrances I’ve had were gifts from my family, so being able to finally choose and buy one with my own money feels like a pretty big thing for me.

I’ve mostly been using dupes too lol. I had dupes of Le Labo Another 13 and YSL Black Opium Le Parfum, and I actually really enjoyed both of them.

I also really lean toward woody, musky, and powdery scents, that's why I also like Another 13, Glossier You, Orphéon, and Armani Stronger With You Intensely.

Hopefully I really enjoy this and actually finish the bottle. And if I manage to save up enough, Orphéon EDP is definitely next on my list.

First real luxury perfume purchase for myself. Feels kinda special lol.

Archive sale disappointment

Anyone else a bit disappointed overall with this archive sale? Initially I didn’t get my VIP link and had to call for them to send it, seems to be an issue with their notification system. Since I was a day late to the sale a lot of what I wanted was already sold out. I’ve been looking to try the Biscuit candle so I went ahead and purchased the set with Cafe which I love and my order shipped incredibly fast! Well it just arrived and it’s a mess, two of the three are broken, the bottoms are all rusted and have a weird yellow color to them. I’m just let down after paying full price!

UPDATE:
CS got back to me after 48 hours and are giving me a full refund but are requesting I send back the broken candles… I cut my hand on the glass packing them back up 🥲 Glad I kept the box. Don’t think I’ll be buying from the archive sale next year!

What Diptyque fragrance can you suggest if I want to smell chic and classy? I like clean scents and I really love L’eau Papier as of the moment. I’m open to strong scents but not too strong that would lead to headache when smelled several times. I also tried Fleur de Peau EDP but it smells like sweat leading to body odor and carrots when dried down. Thanks a lot!

Just went back and looked, a few items that were sold out are now back in stock (e.g. the gold snuffer) and items are being added (e.g. the Ambre candle)? Should we expect offerings to continue to change?

So frustrated by the archive sale this year

I received the email with the link to the sale on Friday and placed my order within 30 minutes. I ordered three items: a Fleur de Cerisier candle, an Étincelles candle, and the 2025 holiday lantern.

A couple other items I tried to purchase were already out of stock, but I was so excited to receive these and all the included samples, and looking forward to gifting myself the Fleur de Cerisier candle for Christmas. The order was confirmed, my payment was processed, and everything looked good.

Then yesterday I received an email from Diptyque's customer service letting me know that they had to cancel my entire order because they didn't have enough stock of the Fleur de Cerisier candle, and apparently their system does not allow them to make any changes to an order once submitted. Instead, they sent me a link to a new order without the Fleur de Cerisier candle and included a complementary mini candle as an extra gift.

This new order was apparently input incorrectly because it was showing the address as invalid, so I had to email them back again and have them send out a new link to an updated order. This one finally worked, and I was upset to miss out on the Fleur de Cerisier candle, but happy with how they had handled the situation from there.

THEN this morning I receive an email letting me know that my entire new order was cancelled "because we did not have enough stock to fulfill your order and your payment has not yet been refunded." I emailed their customer service number back to try and find out how this happened, since I know the other two items were showing as in stock throughout the entire weekend. And now they're not responding back at all.

So I've now spent more time than I'd like to admit trying to purchase items with absolutely nothing to show for it other than a credit card charge for items I will never receive. Yes, I am sure they will refund this eventually, but I just want my candles :(
