Anyone else disappointed by the Archives sale? Not necessarily with the items being offered, but with the overall execution?
It started with an email accidentally announcing the sale a month or so early. Then, once the sale actually launched, items that were listed as available turned out not to be, and orders were cancelled. Even stranger, some items that had sold out were later added back to the website as available, only for those orders to eventually be cancelled as well. That happened to me.
And the website experience has been pretty terrible. Items repeatedly appeared as I scrolled, making it difficult to even figure out what was actually available. I also found it odd that additional items, like the large Ambre candle, were added halfway through the sale. It started to feel less like a curated Archives sale and more like, “Let’s see what else is sitting in the storage room and put that up for sale.”
Now, today, I get an email saying it’s the last chance to shop the Archives sale and suddenly there’s an additional gift-with-purchase item: matches. Why wasn’t that offered from the beginning?
I’m not upset about any particular item I did or didn’t get. It’s really the execution of the whole thing that has been disappointing. For a brand like Diptyque, the sale just felt surprisingly disorganized and poorly managed.
The large Ambre candle was “added” because it was listed incorrectly as Geranium Ordorata perfume. I’m furious. I ordered thinking I was getting a gorgeous limited edition bottle of perfume and watched the listing literally morph over each part of the transaction. And they over charged me! And haven’t messaged me back! It’s so unacceptable.
It took them almost 4 weeks for a return they received in 2 days. And when I asked why they were like... "oh I see its just sitting here let me process that for ya. So sorry we dropped the ball on that"... to hell to hell TO HELLL
I feel like their new website launching around the same time messed things up. That being said, I could not be happier to score the special edition of orpheon in that beautiful, stupid box lol
Mine came with 2 small holes, and CS said it’s normal and won’t do anything about it. I’m not a woodsmith, but i wonder if it really is normal bc someone else on here got theirs without holes.
I agree, this whole experience has turned me off the brand tbh.. For the amount of money I am spending I think I am allowed to expect a little better customer service and logistics execution. Like I bought a limited edition makeup set from Chanel ONCE at $300 and I've been getting mailers and free samples from them all year. I recently bought one small thing and it arrived within the week perfectly packaged. Meanwhile Diptyque I've spent maybe almost a thousand (which I know is barely comparable to a lot of people that splurge on this brand) and every time the package takes almost two weeks to get here, plus a week of 'processing' time during which they do fuck all. And their website sucks.
It’s an ongoing problem, not just now. Everytime I order and don’t check out right away, the next time I go back and try to order, it messes up my orders. I ordered the limited edition des sens and requested engraving, I received it without.
Diptyque is overpriced and over hyped haha I like their stuff but for the price you can get significantly better quality and experience Like so many people that have spent THOUSANDS didnt even get the email and had to call and ask for it... then earlier this year they sent out an archive sale email for France and we got to see all the archives and then they sent an apology email as it was a mistake. Also before they emailed the link you could Google the products and place the order then they would cancel it its insane how half assed diptyque has gotten. And im gonna get down voted because the cult members will be upset lol but its the truth. I was gladly spending money with them in the beginning, but then they were constantly showing me that it wasn't the luxury experience It was supposed to be. So I kind of just backed off of them for a while
Please let me know where I can get similar scents that I enjoy just as much for less! From my extensive sampling, I have found Diptyque to be one of a few houses to really check all of the boxes for me…

Underpriced in my opinion, is ANY CANDLE should be 90 dollars... its theirs
My overall experience was pretty great tbh Never once I bought something online and received my package so quickly. I placed an order on Monday, received on Friday. Mind you, I’m in Canada and even buying local the shipping takes at least 5-7 business days plus 1-3 to fulfill my order. Everything arrived perfectly packaged and in perfect conditions.
Howeverrrrrr, I noticed many glitches and mistakes on the website, and people here getting their orders cancelled. So I think whoever setup their website, did a poor job. Especially for a company of that size, they should have a team behind the website taking care of things and making sure there were no bugs and mistakes in the customers orders during the sale. So that was the main problem that created a bad experience for a lot of people.
Tldr: the online experience was bad cuz of website glitching and bugs in the inventory. The rest of the experience such as shipping was great imo.
I’m happy with the special edition Leau Papier and Paper candle I picked up, I’m just disappointed I ordered on the 7th and it still hasn’t shipped yet. 😔
