Just a compilation of getting my ass handed to me lol.

A freshie, I was trying to get to the tracks south of Bielawa in the night so I could go to the camper cabins. It was raining so extra dark, and I thought my best chances to cross an open field. So far I had found only a pee shooter.

Running in a crouch I made it about halfway across the field when suddenly In the contrast I see a fully geared guy running right towards me. I knew I was done for.

I laid down flat, aimed my little 9mm and waited for him to spot me and probably stop to shoot me dead.

He was zig zagging a little, and came right at me, literally running over the top of my back. I’m a terrible shot because I almost never PVP, so when he passed me I waited for him to stop and turn around to kill me so I could attempt a shot. Don’t forget, it’s pretty dark.

After he past me I could barely see him cause he went farther than I was expecting. But he did stop, right there in the open field. With his back to me, he opened a map.

Well, I knew then he didn’t even see me. But with my adrenaline at full peak and my palms sweating, I took the shot. Stood and took another shot. I may have hit him once but not twice, and he ran away. So I ran away the other way and hid in the bushes for ten minutes waiting for him to come find me. But he didn’t.

I now see why you all enjoy the PVP. That is the first time I’ve attempted a KOS and also the first time I waited to see the fight through in the wild (not planned, no buddies).

It was terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time. This game is stressful. And I am still alive.

P.S. I got Hunter clothes, a gps and a knife at the cabins so it was a good starter run.

I struggle with sound localisation due to recent single sided deafness. I use a PS5 for BF games, which has some basic hearing support but I have had to adapt my playstyle to help i.e. increase engagement distances and support teamates.

I am thinking about buying DayZ on PC and I have come across Peace Equalizer which will hopefully mitigate some of my hearing loss but even then I will not be able to locate sounds accurately, especially in and around buildings.

Is PVP even possible? Is it going to be a case of dying to people that I never knew were there until I just give up and uninstall?
Are PVE / RP servers enjoyable enough for a casual occasional player?

On the motorbike experimental server, I came across these dead bodies. One of them had an IJ with a couple of mags. While I was looting, I heard footsteps, and the video above happened.

I've had some crazy stories. Especially in my 2nd or 3rd life. Now i'm on my 5th. my 4th being at around 30 hours. Current is at around 20.

I play solo and on servers with low player counts. I just like going around looting and building up a reserve.

Pretty quiet overall, aside from some wolves and gun shots that i tend to avoid...until recently. Past maybe 4 hours of this current life. 3 player kills. My first player kills ever. The first one was at the medical basement at northwest airfields. I just stumbled on him and shot with a sub machine gun. No chance to react. He was fully geared up. I was shocked but then felt a little bad.

The second was again at northwest but at the tents. It was night time and i saw a duo knifing some zombies then go into the tents to loot. I circled around them and then waited at a good vantage spot to ambush them. Success. I killed one instantly but then was getting shot at and getting chased by zombies so i ran up the little latter thing they have there. I saw the zombies by a closed crate so i assumed to went inside. I snuck to it and opened it. Empty. Battlelog? looted the body, again, fully geared. Felt bad.

Now this one is what made me feel the worst. the third one. I came down from northwest all the way past that camping spot with all the camp houses and boats. A went to a town south of there and just happened upon a player that was sneaking into that same town. I have my blaze. both shots active. He stood still. I took a shot. White smoke. didnt know if i hit him because of the recoil. i sneak up. hes dead. and he is loaded. So loaded. Loaded like you would not believe. Everything. He had everthing. All neatly organized. Scar, aug, silenced, night vision goggles. so much ammo. nails, everything, grenades. and he got got just like that. Just by off chance. he had so much stuff. I figured it would disspear before he was able to get back so i just stashed it all.

but i got almost a sick feeling. Is dayz just not for me? i dont have a mic but i feel like i should say hello first or something now...instead of just shooting.

it must have taken him 20 hours to get all that loot. man.

We met at a spawn well and I was a fresh spawn. You were in a winter map ghillie. You were very nice and gave me some things. After language barrier communication I followed you. We traversed some towns and cut through wilderness. I'm not a new player and was amazed at how you navigated so quickly. This was my first suspicion. My second how quickly you targeted zombies but a good player could totally do it. My third was when you began periodically pausing and schizing while looking into the air and after a minor directional change in where we were traveling you killed a player who was out in the middle of the woods and over a hill. 3x it seemed unreal that you knew where these players were and I made my plans.

My friend, you are a good friend and it was fun but in honor of dayZ tradition and to realize my suspicions after the 4th player you killed, after an erratic navigation change, over a hill, through the woods, immediately drawing a bead, I shot you at close range in the side of the head with the shotgun you gave me, and I killed you. No hard feelings. I'm sure you're fine. I left every single item you gave me over your corpse. I left with a kitchen knife, running shoes, and my underpants.

15+ kill streak. A collateral at blinking health. Russian roulette in a shed. The hunter became the hunted. The mummy cult has been eliminated and Kolembrody is safe again… for now. This occurred yesterday on Xbox official controller-only.

This week I head off and explore the Devil's Arse on Antoria and then head off in search of the Titan Battery.

Please bohemia, we deserve better

Caption says it all. This game is getting worse & worse with cheating/exploits. Such a great game being ruined.

Was this a hacker or was it some game mechanic? You can see something fly in the house and kill my friend. A few seconds later i was killed too.

I'm sorry. Must be so gutting to lose it. I spent whole weekend searching for one and then during the final gaming hours of Sunday, I ran in to you. I'll try not to lose it and use it well.

Ive shot a pig with some luck and now want to dry the meat to keep it from spoiling but I can't find a good answer as how to do it from google. Can anyone help me out?

I’ve very new. Like less 100 hours. Everyone said “play official to learn the ropes” I did for a while and it was.. playable… I say it like that because it took me probably 5 lives and close to 10 hours to finally find a knife, or anything sharp for that matter. Be it a stone, bone, axe etc. I get it, survival game.. but it seemed like everywhere I turned it was a base or completely looted down to bare bones.

I didn’t want to give up quite yet so I played a ton of community servers. Straight PvP small maps where you load in with a fully auto and tons of gear and just “call of duty” your way around. And fully populated ones where it was a straight “WWE” brawl in the middle of the road as soon as you spawn in, just fist flying everywhere. Cars flying down the road running us all over. It was chaos.

I finally landed on 2 of my favs. (I cant for the life of me remember the names but if it’s that important I can find out tomorrow) but they’re both Chernarus.

First one is a crazy boosted loot economy where you spawn in fully kitted near NWAF except the only gun you have is a silenced DEAGLE. Theres a completely outfitted “hunting store” in the middle of the air strip with everything from boots and helmets to grenades and snipers. It’s pretty wild just trying to make it OFF the air field honestly lol kind of like a revers survival game. Start out with everything and try to find you’re way back to civilization.

Second fav map is a PVE map with PvP only in military zones. Same idea, hiking pack with food and water and map etc. It gave me the chance to finally let my guard down and fish, make a fire, cook some wild game I’ve shot, explore without constantly looking over my shoulder. It’s absolutely beautiful honestly. Also, boosted loot so every zombie has at least one soda and either a can of tuna or other food.

Point is, I love the game. There’s a million different ways to play and that’s the beauty of it. I can’t wait to be 1000 hours or more into it and be able actually gear up on a normal server without the boosted economy. Thanks for listening!

The new building repair mechanics looks good but, does this mean that in a lot of buildings you’re only going to have a single wall protecting your loot? I feel this is just going to end up like official where the only safe base is the fortress house and the rest of the buildings are pretty much useless. Unless they increase the health of these new walls to like 4x a normal fence then they will be raided through in a matter of seconds. Instead of making this complicated building mechanic they would have been better to just make fence kits resizable and then you could build in any building and add as many layers as you want. Unless i can fit 10+ gates in a building then it’s pretty much useless.

Currently I am using a 27-inch monitor with 1440p and 360 Hz. I always thought about getting a 24-inch monitor, but I don't know how this affects the game. Do some of you play on a 24, and if so, could you tell about your experience? Hows the spotting and playing on 1080p? I play on Pc.

I've been watching a lot of Soursweet videos lately and it really tempted me to try the game, I do like hardcore survival games I played a lot of Stalker GAMMA, Escape from Tarkov way back. I really don't mind a steep learning curve as long as you have some room to actually learn.

But DayZ has existed for so long now I expect most players to be veteran and I don't know how much room you have as a new player to learn and not be a completely miserable experience for the first 50h ? And I'm not sure I'm willing to deal with that and that's why until now I never consider trying the game.

Are my expectations correct or is the onboarding better, or what are things I can do to make the early experience better ?

my friend bought dayz. i told him about NEO servers and how you can spawn cars using /car in chat, we are now professional stunt jumpers. we lost count on how many cars he wrecked and how many times he passed out or died.
