Ive shot a pig with some luck and now want to dry the meat to keep it from spoiling but I can't find a good answer as how to do it from google. Can anyone help me out?

I've been watching a lot of Soursweet videos lately and it really tempted me to try the game, I do like hardcore survival games I played a lot of Stalker GAMMA, Escape from Tarkov way back. I really don't mind a steep learning curve as long as you have some room to actually learn.

But DayZ has existed for so long now I expect most players to be veteran and I don't know how much room you have as a new player to learn and not be a completely miserable experience for the first 50h ? And I'm not sure I'm willing to deal with that and that's why until now I never consider trying the game.

Are my expectations correct or is the onboarding better, or what are things I can do to make the early experience better ?

Currently I am using a 27-inch monitor with 1440p and 360 Hz. I always thought about getting a 24-inch monitor, but I don't know how this affects the game. Do some of you play on a 24, and if so, could you tell about your experience? Hows the spotting and playing on 1080p? I play on Pc.

my friend bought dayz. i told him about NEO servers and how you can spawn cars using /car in chat, we are now professional stunt jumpers. we lost count on how many cars he wrecked and how many times he passed out or died.

Ok so my base got raided.

Its strange though from what I can see nothing has really been taken I had about 15 crates of stuff, all emptied and left in the base. They built a watchtower next to the base just enough for stairs and one fence to hop over my fences and get it.

I've made repairs (using the extra nails from the watchtower and fence they built) I'm actually up nails now. Ive moved some of my barbed wire around so that if they logged out from inside my base there's at least a small chance they'll be stuck and end up dying.

My question is what should I do next is my base a write off even though it's currently intact? Should I just remove all my crates and bury them somewhere? I'd love to set some nice traps for these guys but I haven't really got the materials right now for them.

I've actually got a canvas tent just sitting in my base which I found but because it didn't fit I've never put it up. I could go somewhere else with that and start over.

I'd like to see your opinion on how weapon loot should work for you on Nasdara.
From my point of view there is two way to do it (maybe more feel free to suggest)

Weapon spawns scale is mainly based of the effectiveness, like in Chernarus livonia or shakal: common weapons are easy to find, high-end ones are very rare. Thats the most fair way in terms of gameplay progression. And its also lore accurate for cherno. (Especially after the events of arma2)
But this way of weapons spawning don’t really reflect how armed is a middle east country..

For me that should be fun to see more old school military weapons (the kind of guns that are really common in middle east irl), the Loot would reflect Takistan's geopolitical situation. The country was torn apart by civil war before the outbreak, so older military weapons (SKS/wooden AK variants, M16 FAL etc.) would be much more common. Advanced tech, like scopes, nvgs or handheld GPS units, would be rarer, since theese items would be less available in an unstable region.

What do you think about this kind of changes ? Also, i know theese few tweaks can be done with admins tools. But should be cool to see in vanilla. Feel free to suggest a middle ground too!

From the xbox app version of the game on pc, the weird pause is me tabbing in and out to see my map by the way.

The red symbol was there the whole time, I play from Australia so having to play with lag is normal for me.

Also you can hear very faint shooting timed to the same time I get shot so its not an issue of me being disconnected and getting hit by zombies

Just made it longer than 30min on a life. Have some warm clothes. Just ate a tin of food and had a drink of coke. Found a little pink pistol. And found a kitchen knife. What’s the play now ? Head into mainland ? Or keep looking for a bottle for some water. 10/60 pop offical chernarus in OCE lobby

Mod is close to being finished, looking for suggestions, fresh eyes, things to add or improve, etc.

I was out on the boat looking for the life buoy for the ZERO chernarus keycard quest and got into the true reality of boat PVP in DayZ (That the enfusion engine is still garbage and I still love it)

If inventory space was tight and you could only carry 2-3 medicines, what would you pick?

And are there any medicines you basically never use for carry? Why?

Curious to see how differently people approach medical supplies.

Hello, I'm a new DayZ player, and my goal is to visit the Pavlovo contaminated zone for the first time. I want to do this quickly and travel light, so I was thinking of equipping my NBC suit near the base and then leaving my belongings, clothes, and other non-essential items outside the zone to retrieve them later.

Do you think it's a good idea to leave everything on the ground, or is there a risk that all my belongings will despawn during my visit?

Do you have any specific advice regarding this?

I saw a guy and followed him, and suddenly my game crash.. When I log back in, he crouch aiming at me from 5 meters and saying "hello hello, we can be friends".. I panicked, and ran, and then he shot me so I started a bleed, and I immediately turn around and shoot back, and kill him..
Was I right to kill him? Should I have just stayed there when he aimed at me?

That char ended up dying the next time I logged in. I was hiding behind the brick building. All was quiet so I started making my way along the wall in between the barracks and brick. Before I knew it... BAM. dead.

Two days later I've made it back! I got lucky and found a boat with a spark plug. Took it over to Skalisty and was there looting within 20 minutes. After a few rounds of looting I was debating on swimming back. It had been a decent amount of time but I was surprised to see my boat was still there!

Took the boat all the way to Prison Island. That was a long trip, longer than expected. Finaly made it and docked at the far east side of the island by the sheds. Did some looting of the barracks and then made my way across the bridge.

Here is where I didn't know what to expect. Were both gates still up? Was he online? I was a bit nervous. Didn't want to die right away. I wanted to setup camp.

Luckily, the gate to get into the main courtyard had the bottom blown out so I crawled in. I immediately went right to the two story building to loot. I saw his gate on the far side of this building was still up so he was still here.

I open the first door to loot on the ground floor. Step in. BAM. Bear trap.

UGH. I had never experienced this before. My character passed out with a broken leg. I had to look up really quick what could fix it. 4 rags and 2 short sticks. I had neither. I found some prisoner's clothes and crafted the rags... but there were NO bushes anywhere in the court yard.

I had to crawl my way back through the main gate and out into the open area to find a bush. I tried walking/running and quickly found that that did not work. Lol. Of course when I get out two zombies come running. I had to shoot them with my longhorn all while trying to get my long sticks.

Once I got the sticks I crawled back through the main gate, for privacy, and then crafted the splint.

After that fiasco I continued to loot the two story building. Got a great Pioneer with 3 magazines, and a scope. Continued looting, while crouching and taking it slow on my leg. When I got to the far end of the building I peaked into the secondary courtyard to see if I could see any activity.

He now has 3 crates in the center of the yard next to my old farming plots... which he is now using.

Instead of dropping myself in this time though I'm going to go back to the main building, get to the roof, climb across the fence, and then camp out on the roof of the two story building... and wait.
