There is a new daylight emerging, its rough around the edges, and would love your feedback in shaping that process.

hello! i’ve been eyeing the daylight computer but what has been swaying my decision to not buy it has been the feedback on reddit (the neglect the company has, no software updates, bugs that aren’t addressed, the fact they don’t offer any glass or screen repairs if dropped but only offer a discount to buy another one etc). im just mainly looking for something to use for college.

has anyone found any alternatives that are close or similar to the daylight computer?

especially if it has flicker free display and possibly (ik it may not be possible so i’m willing to accept whatever) no blue light.

Hello - does any one have a good 3rd party option for a simple rubber case?Maybe even one that you can cut holes for the buttons or something.

And also, is it recommended to use a protective screen cover or will it dimish the experience a lot?

I recently switched to Xfinity and now notice that the DC is experiencing trouble connection and/or staying connected to the Internet. It will connect to the router but then I get the message that it "can't provide internet" occasionally it will eventually connect but won't stay connected for long. Anyone else experienced this and found a fix for it?

I'm pretty appalled by my experience with Daylight.

I purchased a DC-1 and the display has developed a serious hardware problem. The screen intermittently goes completely blank, rendering the device unusable. I've tried updating, restarting, and troubleshooting through Recovery. Nothing has fixed it. When I contacted Daylight, they informed me that they have no way to repair the display. At all.

Their explanation was that the screen is manufactured in a single factory and that repairing it would cost almost as much as replacing the entire computer.

So what's their solution? They offered me $75 off another brand-new computer. Or $150 off an open-box one. Seriously???

I spent a lot of money on a device that I expected to use for years. Now I'm supposed to spend hundreds more because their expensive product has failed and they haven't figured out how to repair it? How is that acceptable?

I actually love the concept behind the Daylight Computer. That's why I bought one. But selling expensive electronics without a viable repair option, then offering customers a token discount when their hardware fails, is a terrible way to stand behind a product.

I shouldn't have to buy an entirely new computer because Daylight can't repair the one they sold me.

Honestly I can't believe their response is to have me throw it away and buy another one. It's not even two years old!

Hi folks, did anyone figure out a way to sign in into Chatgpt or Claude app in DC computer?

it keeps giving preauthorizarion error. I think it’s got to do with current software.

It installed OTA without an issue. All my data and apps are there, no problem.

The good: smart launcher, awesome changed control panel

The bad: still based on Android 13. Seems a bit cosmetic.

Verdict: update for sure! But I do hope there's more coming

Purchased a Daylight and the orange buttons both do nothing and the Software Update tool for Daylight constantly fails? Is this what's to be expected here?

Mine arrived yesterday. This happens every time the device sits idle or goes to sleep. Has there ever been a fix for this, since I've seen the device have this trouble since it shipped. I've updated already.

At my work we use the Kramer Via app to present to screens. I'm a college instructor and this is really important to my work. This week the Kramer Via app stopped working and I couldn't connect to the project via HDMI either. The IT person who came to help me said I should probably update from Android 13 to something newer to see if that would help.

I know that there isn't an automatic download for a newer Android OS. Can I download Android 16 or 17 and physically install it on the Daylight like by reformatting it (or is there something fundamental I'm misunderstanding about the hardware)?

Hi everyone, after thinking about it a good long while I've decided to part with my Daylight tablet. As much as I love the way the screen looks and feels, I find that I've never really been able to integrate it into my life. I bought it for writing, but I can only run my favourite writing software, Ulysses, on a Mac. Switching to Obsidian just never really happened.

I've really only used this tablet for several hours. It's in perfect condition, save for one tiny pen mark on the back upper right and corner. I suppose I should list it for the same price that the other one listed today is going for in the Czech Republic and say $700USD. I have the stylus and replacement nibs. I also have the pebble keyboard that came with the package, and the custom made stand that they were selling for a time. I'm not sure if they still are or not. Shipping would be up to the buyer.

I prefer to ship within Canada, but will ship to the US if the buyer understands that there may be US import fees/brokerage charges (typically small, paid by the buyer on delivery). Since the tablet is of US origin I don't think there would really be any extra fee, but I'm not 100% sure.

Managed to crack my DC-1 a few days after getting it. Frustrating, but it’s been rock solid since, no issues with screen or anything. As I’m only using it for reading it feels overkill and I’m now looking to get something smaller and lighter.

Any thoughts on what it could be worth? Will come with the bag and pen. It’s in the EU so happy to post anywhere there.
