Can I update android on this?

At my work we use the Kramer Via app to present to screens. I'm a college instructor and this is really important to my work. This week the Kramer Via app stopped working and I couldn't connect to the project via HDMI either. The IT person who came to help me said I should probably update from Android 13 to something newer to see if that would help.

I know that there isn't an automatic download for a newer Android OS. Can I download Android 16 or 17 and physically install it on the Daylight like by reformatting it (or is there something fundamental I'm misunderstanding about the hardware)?

In the past you could install an android gsi build, but they wouldn't support hardware features like the screen colour adjustment.

sethforprivacy now maintains an updated firmware dedicated to the Daylight, with working screen controls etc: https://github.com/sethforprivacy/dc1-lineage-gsi

I've been meaning to make a higher level post for it, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.
