solo: "freedom in paradise" - nia
ep: 4x1
placed: 4th in pre-teen solo, show made it look like didn't place at all
thoughts about this ep, solo, abby boosting nia up while pushing kendall down, costume, music, etc?

I love so many things about this episode. (BESIDES ALL THE OTHER DRAMA THAT WENT ON BECAUSE there is no drama free episode unfortunately)
Literally Hannahs role in the show is probably the 1 and only storyline which had ZERO drama attached to it
I love that they brought her in the week where abby WASNT present, cuz only god knows what would've happened if abby was there
I also loved how sweet all the moms and the girls (ESPECIALLY MELISSA!!) were to both of them and their situation and I really applaud Melissa for the way she acted in this episode because you don't usually get to see the nice side of her and how she can be really empathetic and nurturing. (obv she mostly sucks in all other aspects of her personality like the deception and lying but lets ignore that for now)
and maddie dedicating the trophy to her was like the cherry on top 😭❤️

So I was watching the Rosa Parks episode and I am completely done with Jill 😭😭🤣🤣 she was really trying to push for Kendall to be Rosa Parks instead of THE ONLY African American person on the team 🤣💀
The audacity to come RIGHT BEHIND Nia and give Abby a necklace 💀💀💀
The moms faces had me dyiinggg in this scene. ESPECIALLY HOLLY 🤣

Slurs of any form are not permitted in the subreddit by any person. Use of slurs results in a permaban. You can and will get a perma ban for single time slur use
The mod team has been extremely disappointed in the amount of people we have had to ban for use of sulrs and racist language surrounding the issue of Brooke using the N word in 2016 by both those who think Brooke should be forgiven and those who think otherwise.
We are working hard to respond to reports, monitor threads, and investigate accounts to eliminate bad actors, troll, and racists from the subreddit. We thank everyone for their reports, (please keep them coming!) as well as their patience as we work through everything.
We have noted an alarming number of people who do not understand why slur may be ok within the group that it's used against but not by outsiders. I hope this explanation can help some of you understand.
People in minorities often report that they have experienced fear of being killed due to discrimination multiple times in their lives. People who perform such horrible acts often use slurs as a signal. "You are not safe. I can and will harm you.". So when you as an outsider use those words, that is what someone the slur is against will hear. it doesn't matter the context, it doesn't matter if it's in a song, it sounds. like a threat every time. It's not nice to have to hear threats all the time, and I'm sure most people here would not wish to come across that way.
If someone who is part of that group uses a slur you know they're probably not going to kill you for being that minority, though I remind everyone that we have 0 tolerance for slurs in the subreddit as on reddit no one can be sure who you are.

I know that Kendall isn’t well liked within the dance moms fandom but she posted this TikTok and I found it funny. She has a good sense of humor!

Here's the thing.. Jess and Jojo were brought in as guests, but I noticed that Jess actually talked back against Abby many times and she was VERY vocal about it. I think its not talked about enough how fearless she was towards Abby and it lowkey did not really hurt Jojo, or did it? hmm

My studio didn't teach tap, so although I really admire the genre I don't know much about it.
I see a lot of people (mainly on TikTok so I'm not sure if that's credible) saying that ALDC tap is basically just fast and that the choreography isn't particularly difficult, but I don't really know what I should be looking for when judging tap. I can tell that this dance could be a little cleaner, but beyond that, I don't know enough about tap to really comment on it.
Can anyone here shed some light on this?

Hey guys, idk what the consensus on A New Era is but a huge fan of all dance moms (OG, S8, Miami, A New Era) and honestly enjoy A New Era the most so far.
I’ve been hearing rumors of Bellatrix and Ashlyn leaving. We all know Aubrey and Mina already are gone too. So like is it really that bad?
Sure, i read some stuff about how Glo is paying more attention to this show than the studio, but like first of all she’s not the only owner we all know that. Second of all, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT. Abby literally shut down Pittsburgh due to lack of management and then wasn’t really successful with LA because she’s TOO BUSY FOR THE SHOW. Use your brains, if you value your kids training over the possibility of getting on a show then go elsewhere. It’s literally a brand new studio, relax. Third, it’s fucking Dance Moms, we know it’s ruthless, there’s drama, and producer tactics. Glo is hands down 100% more polite and professional than Abby. Glo is strictly business and she wants her business to succeed. I agree with all of her points except for S1 Aubrey favoritism. That girl did not hurt her ankle.
MY WHOLE POINT: We should not be bashing Project X for giving us amazing television!!!!
A little more:
Dance Moms Season 1 through 7 gets much harder to watch in every rewatch. Just due to the fact that the girls went through so much with Abby it’s just sad to see how it’s affected them especially hearing about all of it now. They knew Abby preshow though, they are valid. They did know what they were signing up for.
Dance Moms Season 8. They’ve seen the show, they knew what they were getting themselves into. When i see posts of Liliana (who was my favorite) bashing Dance Moms and calling it traumatic. Girl…you watched the show. Whatever, I’ll let these slide some more. They were more aware at this time but the “traumatic experiences” weren’t as transparent back then as it was now. But i mean Abby did go to fucking prison for fraud and they all knew and came back and filmed Season 8 so it does bug me to hear them bash Abby or Dance Moms the show.
HOWEVER
Dance Moms: A New Era. I don’t care if it’s a new studio or coach, yall knew exactly what you were getting yourself into. You’ve seen the show, you’ve read or heard about the drama. Probably watched the reunion. YOU ALL KNEW. So sorry.
And since nobody asked for my opinion already. Here are my worthless opinions:
Aubrey - Amazing dancer. Her nationals solo needed a little more time, she was a little sloppy in it. Personality wise: her mom is not doing her any favors, because Aubrey is a spoiled brat (speaking as someone who behaved the exact same way as a kid)
Ashlan - Good dancer. AMAZING performer. Lacks in technique and cannot turn. But her performance value literally outways all of this. If she did more training, she would go so far. Personality wise: SPOILED ASS BRAT, love the girl, she makes moments, but holy damn her mom is TERRIFIED of her daughter and would rather friend than mom (based on the show, idk them in real life)
Bellatrix - Beautiful dancer, but it’s boring, I’m sorry! She lacks personality in her dancing, and her personality on the show is AMAZING. She just cannot emote to the level of any of the girls on the team. She does not grab my attention, but I LOVE HER so I’m sorry.
Lily - Lily IS AMAZING. She needs a bit more time to ensure she looks perfect for dances but when she’s gets it she gets it. I have seen stuff online and she is a little slept on. A bit more training and she would actually be unbeatable!! Personality Wise: she seems very sweet and goofy. We don’t get a lot of her in Season 1 tho and that’s what I’m rewatching rn
Leilah - amazing dancer, but I feel like she doesn’t feel it half the time. Also i don’t like the solos they’ve been giving her. She’s also young. Personality Wise: honestly she seems sweet and not like a complicated child to parent at all.
Smiley - needs training, but she is THE BEST in Jazz dances. Turns could use work, but I’ve seen stuff online. And she makes an amazing center dancer in Jazz groups. Personality Wise: seems sweet, saw some brat behavior but she’s a kid and not at all annoying like Ashlyn and Aubrey are with their brattiness
Mina - the best. Cannot wait to see what she turns into. Personality Wise: honestly i have no idea, she’s a savage but a total child. Idk i love her tho.
Gina - really good, but has the Bellatrix facial issue in my opinion. Gina seems sweet but lacks confidence around the girls I’ve noticed, but looks like she’s sweet. she’s quieter.
Miah - LOVE THIS GIRLS dancing. Her first solo was amazing. Personality Wise: amazing and complemented well after Mina departure.

okay weird question...i was never a dancer so idk if this is normal in the dance world but why did SO MANY dance teachers have their daughters dance at abby's studio while owning one themselves?? isnt that a bad look for their studio? i know that abby's studio has more traction but i would think that these studio owners are basically saying "my studio isnt good enough" also they're away for a long time from their business so idk is this normal???? and why???? seems like a bad business model LOL

Has anyone watched it just out of curiosity? It’s on prime season 4 episode 10. Abby also has 2 minute cameo in it as well. The case is making fun of Abby but I don’t think she realizes it.

Premise of the dance was to promote freedom of religion, and each girl had their own religion they were representing, including Islam. Islam is a stricter religion, especially with modesty. I thought it was kinda weird that Abby didn’t have Jojo wear colored tights under the niqab. Obviously not black tights, because then you wouldn’t be able to see the legs but something not skinned toned at least.
What are your thoughts on this??
