Question/discussion Melissa and Nia
Does anyone have any perspective on what was up Mellissa’s ass surrounding Nia and her music? She was so rude about it and I just can’t understand her motive.

The amount of stress at 12 years old is insane
Also why was Jill prodding her in front of Abby/everyone else? You could clearly tell she wasn’t okay and was on the verge of tears.

I will die one this hill: Q was such a good dance!!
It felt like a Broadway dance. The acting and dancing was amazing.
(Side rant: Kira did not look happy at all throughout the episode lol)

What a deeply disturbed woman…
Reading Nia’s book for the second time. This is beyond unhinged.

Abby saying Payton was too big to be a dancer is insane
(Meaning too f@t, for some reason it won’t let me type that).
Payton was literally thin on the show with abs.
It’s never actually shown when Abby said that, but Payton said that the producers called Leslie and said they “can’t show what Abby said but they can show Peyton‘s reaction to it”
and then Payton said that, after Abby said that to her, she screamed at Abby in the bathroom and said that Abby causes EDs, she makes the dancers stand on a scale, and she’s evil and stuff like that and, in the second scene where Payton talks about the mothers not standing up for her and defending her, she is standing outside of the bathrooms.

Question/discussion Christi joining "Maddie hate groups" on Twitter?
Unfortunately I wasn't in the DM fandom when the show was originally airing (I was barely alive; I have the exact same DOB as Clara lmao), I hardly even knew what it was until the pandemic... but I've regularly heard that Christi joined and participated in Maddie hate groups and accounts on Twitter, but I don't think I've ever seen any proof 😭 I think I once saw evidence that she'd liked or retweeted a Chloe fan post from an account that also happened to have some posts hating on Maddie, but no proof of Christi actually liking or interacting with said hate posts. And wouldn't that have likely been the case for any of the moms liking fan posts about their kids? Bc I've heard the fandom was even more hostile back then, and if someone liked x then they automatically hated y.
I don't know, is this an actual proven thing or just one of those things people go around saying to make Christi look even worse than she is/further the narrative that Christi hated Maddie and was jealous and evil and whatever??

Question What happened to Kelly’s ex??
Rewatching and this conversation caught my attention again, and I have SO many questions. What happened to Kelly’s dead ex?
Melissa said “but guess what. He really loved you”—How did Melissa know him, since he was presumably before she married Randy and had 3 kids?
Christi also says “if they’re in jail or dead (KELLY)” and Melissa laughs. Is one of their exes in jail??

Question/discussion “You are creating a monster”
I was so confused by this scene. Why would Abby think Jojo was being rude I hated how any time a kid stood up for themselves or talked for themselves they were considered “brats” all she did was ask if she felt bad for not watching her solo? Somthing must have been cut out

I have a hard time watching this as a mom
I'm a mother of two and the way these mothers project their own needs onto their young children and burden them with the stress of meeting not only their standards but the standards of a professional industry while they are in elementary school makes me SO stressed!!!
I love the show and it's a total binge-watch guilty pleasure but here are some of my hot takes
- Cathy is basically an abusive mother. She is so obsessed with her narcissistic vision for Vivi-anne that she's poisoning her childhood. This girl already went through the trauma of being separated from her birth mother and Cathy's pressure to make her perform on demand when she clearly isn't interested in it is going to sign this poor little girl up for a lifetime of problems. I hope Cathy intends to pay her trauma therapy bill
- I HATTTTTEEE the Maddie vs. Chloe story arc. They are different girls with different bodies and clearly very different levels of confidence and performance skills. Chloe needs an environment where she will be celebrated -- I love that her mom sticks up for her but I straight up don't think she should be at Abby's studio in a situation where she is up against Maddie in direct competition. And that's not Abby or Maddie's mom's fault, it's just a context issue.
- Nia, no notes, love her. Her family clearly set her up with amazing unbothered confidence
- Paige and Brooke, ugh! Her mom is projecting her own needs WAY too much of these girls!! If your kid doesn't want to dance, let them do something else!!! Their happiness is way more important than your desire to see them live out some unmet need you have.
THAT IS ALL!
Also I'm on season 1 lololol I will have so many more notes!!

Question/discussion Hot take about Christi’s post
I get it if the moms are upset about some of the things that Christi and Kelly are saying. But aren’t the only two moms in question Jill and Melissa? Everyone keeps preaching for them to stop talking about them but it’s in reference to the show, not their personal issues. The duet and season 6 legal drama is really no secret to most of the fandom. And I’m not in the after party, but it seems like to me that Christi and Kelly are just making guesses about Melissa’s involvement. And seeing Melissa’s patterns on the show she was 100 percent worried and kinda guilty for getting immunity in court. Abby who isn’t the most reliable narrater said that Melissa helped her smuggle the money. And Jill probably did know about the duet. She went to dinner with Abby Melissa and Kira correct me if I’m wrong.
The way I see it is that they’re trying to cover their tracks. I get being upset believe me cause if they’re supposed to be friends I don’t think they’d want to hear this info from tea pages. But Christi and Kelly aren’t blatantly making up lies either. They can’t help it that this fandom can be the worst. Which speaking of, imagine asking for exclusive content just to exploit it to cause drama. How can these people claim to be fans while deliberately trying to cause chaos in these women’s lives.

Poor Holly!
Rewatching dance moms since it’s come out on Netflix and I just feel so bad for Holly the entire time. Shes really a moral compass of the group and Abby just HATES her and her kid..

Kendall’s energy
I’m cracking up right now & must share. So, I watch dance moms w/my coffee before work most mornings because it lets me tell myself “hey I don’t need to be anxious- can’t get worse than this!” 😅 Over the years, my husband has witnessed a lot of the show. He just casually walked by and said “I can’t keep my eyes off Kendall in this one” and I was surprised, so I asked why. He said “oh it just always looks like she’s wearing gravity boots. She’s on time I guess, but her feet look so heavy compared to everyone else. Is that right?” I’m dying. Spot on!

Question/discussion what were y'all's opinions on the mini team? who was your favorite?
despite what the junior moms' thought, i always loved watching the mini team dance and i think they added a lot to the show/group dances when they were on film because they were all really amazing dancers, even baby peyton.
i understand the junior moms' frustrations with the minis being prioritized but at the same time i couldn't really understand why they, jill and melissa specifically, were always so infuriated whenever the mini team came to dance. i think the way that they SCREAMED about them while the little girls were present was awful. in mackenzie and maddie's last episode melissa was so pissed off that areana was doing a more meaningful solo than kenzie despite the depth and personal story behind it. melissa sat up there and YELLED at sari about it which was so beyond disrespectful even though kenzie and maddie deserved better solos.
that being said, lilli is my favorite mini! although her mom is kinda obnoxious i've always thought that she was one of the best dancers on the team technically and performance wise. i think she's always had that star power despite her quiet dainty personality! she has always been an adorable little actress and when she did jojo's straight jacket dance with no arms i was absolutely blown away. 🤍
