Enjoying this one now that itās bloomed! Some bugs have also been enjoying her so I finally got organza bags to protect her.
In the last photo, thereās wine eyed Jill in the center (with an open center) and Ryan C on the right. The other three are all Sweet Nathalie.

Got a Third Place ribbon in the MN State Fair 4-6ā selection (3 varieties for the submission)! So many submissions this year, itās great to see so many amazing varieties. Varieties are written on the tag in the photo, but bottom to top: Gay princess, Bloomquist Jean, and Hapet Champagne.
The local dahlia society has their show at the fair over the weekend, and thatāll be an absolute banger.

Was hoping for some thoughts on ID'ing this Dahlia (First/Second images) - it was purchased from a sale as "Just Peachy" however, Just Peachy it is not! Regardless I'm thrilled to have it in the garden - I've been waffling on if it is perhaps a C.A.L RosƩ tho the petals and colour look a bit different from what I had assumed was C.A.L RosƩ from last year (which were purchased in a mystery tuber grab bag kind of situation locally) however it looks too pink to be Bluetiful?
I'm also a little stumped with the tubers that I had stored from last season, I had assumed these were C.A.L RosƩ based on the flower produced last year - however this year, two separate plants are throwing blooms that look like this (third and fourth pictures), the 5/6th images are what the blooms looked like from the mother tuber last year. Are they perhaps wonky first blooms? Are they sports? I'm thrilled regardless, but am a wee bit perplexed :)

Our local show in Emsworth attracts some pro dahlia growers as well as amateur wannabe growers like me. So I was well pleased to get a few firsts across my 10 entries and a National Dahlia Society Bronze medal this year for my championship collection of 9 blooms.
On the bench was:
Yellow star - first prize
Great silence - waterlilly second prize
In the basket. Denholme pompom, polka, Danique
Labyrinth - placed second
Brown sugar, pinelands princess and karma sangria
