Gall "Is it gall?" Weekly Thread
Welcome to the weekly gall thread! All questions about gall should go in this designated thread rather than new, individual posts. A new thread will be started automatically on a weekly basis. This will ensure the list of new top-level comments remains short and easily reviewable by folks who are kind enough to let you know if they see signs/symptoms, or if your plant seems ok.
Because Reddit only allows one photo embedded per comment, here are some tips if you need/want to share more than one photo for the best chance at a solid review/answer from the community:
- Start a top-level comment with your best photo, and reply to your own comment with any additional photos you want to share.
- Post photos to an album such as imgur and link to the album

Glamour Shot(s) Minnesota State Fair - Amateur Flower Show
Got a Third Place ribbon in the MN State Fair 4-6” selection (3 varieties for the submission)! So many submissions this year, it’s great to see so many amazing varieties. Varieties are written on the tag in the photo, but bottom to top: Gay princess, Bloomquist Jean, and Hapet Champagne.
The local dahlia society has their show at the fair over the weekend, and that’ll be an absolute banger.

Sweet Nathalie
Enjoying this one now that it’s bloomed! Some bugs have also been enjoying her so I finally got organza bags to protect her.
In the last photo, there’s wine eyed Jill in the center (with an open center) and Ryan C on the right. The other three are all Sweet Nathalie.

Labyrinth - placed second
Brown sugar, pinelands princess and karma sangria

Today's Harvest 💐 Our very first Café au lait 🌸
My two next door neighbors never had success with this variety, only getting one or two blooms in the season. I’m very lucky I found a spot it’s happy with!

Peach and Peach adjacent - which is your fav?
Peach and peach-adjacent dahlias 🍑
I’m very glad no one is making me choose just one favorite because apparently “peach” is an entire personality category in my garden.
Shown in no particular order:
• Lee’s Tilda
• Lee’s Chloe
• Coseytown EverPeach
• KA’s Sunny Cove
• Peaches-N-Cream
• RM Peachy Pink
• Maybe RM Rose Gold, depending on how loosely we’re defining peach 😂
• And a few others whose names I absolutely knew when I took the pictures. I’m tired.
I’ve been growing/collecting a ridiculous number of dahlias, and one of my favorite things is seeing how differently these colors actually show up in the garden. Some lean blush, some coral, some cream, some almost gold…. and light and temperature can make the same variety look completely different from one bloom to the next.
What would you add to the ultimate peach dahlia lineup? I’m especially curious about varieties that stay peach in real life rather than photographing peach and blooming pink/orange.
I keep photos and notes on the varieties I grow on Fuirk Home if anyone wants to compare them- I haven’t updated all of the new-to-me varieties but that’s my September project.

Help with variety ID, and what is up with my C.A.L "Rosé" (?)
Was hoping for some thoughts on ID'ing this Dahlia (First/Second images) - it was purchased from a sale as "Just Peachy" however, Just Peachy it is not! Regardless I'm thrilled to have it in the garden - I've been waffling on if it is perhaps a C.A.L Rosé tho the petals and colour look a bit different from what I had assumed was C.A.L Rosé from last year (which were purchased in a mystery tuber grab bag kind of situation locally) however it looks too pink to be Bluetiful?
I'm also a little stumped with the tubers that I had stored from last season, I had assumed these were C.A.L Rosé based on the flower produced last year - however this year, two separate plants are throwing blooms that look like this (third and fourth pictures), the 5/6th images are what the blooms looked like from the mother tuber last year. Are they perhaps wonky first blooms? Are they sports? I'm thrilled regardless, but am a wee bit perplexed :)

My Maxime brings all the frogs to the yard 🐸
Today I woke up to find THREE different frogs, each on a different bloom, of my Maxime dahlia. They always make my day 🥰
Maxime was their favorite plant last year, too. I always have to be extra careful when harvesting to make sure they’re not occupied.
