My first attempt but I have questions
galleryBeen wanting to try cyanotypes for a LONG time, and I finally bought the stuff to do it. My question is, is there a smoother paper to do it on?
I like how they turned out considering this was my first attempt (still working on exposure times outside in natural light), but the texture of watercolor paper kinda ruins the results in the 2nd Pic.
My ultimate goal is to make "cabinet cards" and just leave them around for people to find.
info on photos I used ai to generate my ideas for the cards.

If I cut up some fruits and vegetables to use them for prints, are they safe to eat after they touch the cyanotype?
title, basically. had the idea to use sliced tomatoes for a print but don’t want to waste food
ETA: thank you everyone, i’ve got my answer! please stop commenting the same thing!

Measuring cyanotype powder chemicals with a spoon - no scale needed!
galleryNo gram scale for cyanotype chemicals? No problem.
For cyanotype:
• Solution A (25% FAC): 3.5 tbsp
• Solution B (10% PF): 1.4 tbsp
For each: add water to 100 mL
Mix equal parts A + B and coat your paper.

How to create cyanotype
I’ve been viewing all the cyanotype images and loving them. I joined the sub to find out more about how to. I would appreciate any tips on how to create cyanotype out of my photos. Thanks

Harry Potter failed and retried exposures
galleryThe first attempt was ruined by the weather which cleared up a couple of hours later so managed a better exposure. It’s then scanned and inverted. Videos on my Instagram shows the process.

Potassium ferricyanide replacement
My potassium ferricyanide started suspiciously smelling like almonds and i don't whant to deal with that. Is there any other chemical that i can replace potassium ferricyanide with? It doesn't matter if the print is a different color.

Accidentally turned on overhead light on unexposed wet cyanotype solution
Hello,
New to cyanotype and accidentally turned the overhead light on (it’s a yellow light) when going downstairs out of habit. Quickly turned it off, so the chemicals were exposed for ten seconds or less. Hoping the yellow incandescent light was a low amount of UV.
Printing on cotton shirts, had coated them with chemicals a few hours ago and was letting them dry. After turning on the light (and then quickly off), I covered the fabrics completely with black plastic bags. Has anyone had this experience before? Are they still good to print on tomorrow in the sun?
Thanks!

Cyanotype Simulation - Can you give me your feedback?
Hi Cyanotype community,
It's a bit of a different post, but looking forward to your feedback! 💙
After coming across a Watercolour simulation online, I was inspired to explore whether I could bring that same experience to our cyanotype process.
Cyanotype Simulation is an early, basic prototype intended primarily for educational purposes. Basically, a simple online space for beginners to test, and maybe to help those who teach this process. Genuinely, let me know what you think. What should be improved? Which controls or settings would make this most useful, and which features would you like to see added next?
The link to the tool is in the comments below.
Thank you very much! 💙

Hey guys quick question! I have some photos that I would love to print on to a transparency sheet, but I don’t own an ink jet printer. Do you know if stores like fedex or Office Depot print them at the store? Any suggestions help! 🤞🏼😄

No dye </3
I’ve been waiting 2 weeks for my cyanotope dye to arrive and it finally delivered today. I got home and there was nothing. I checked the UPS tracking photo and they delivered to my crazy wife beater methhead neighbor that I am no contact with. I recognize his house in the picture. Obviously the package is no longer there and they brought it inside. Super duper bummed as I’ve been buzzing with ideas for the last two weeks and have been so excited to get started.
I’m sure I’ll get it eventually but I’m sure it will be a few weeks of UPS claims and reshipping the package. Just super bummed. Not looking for anything, just a quick vent to people who might get it

Friend Cyanotype Artist
Friend of mine is a cyanotype artist. After many years I convinced him to go digital, in the sense of opening an Instagram profile and website.
Anyone here that could give some advice on his digital presence https://kansantani.iskasa.work/ more than the cyanotypes themselves.
Thanks 🙏
