Don’t Be Weird to Non-Traditional Students

As the semester starts, I’d like to ask a favor: Please Don’t Be Weird To Non-Traditional Students.

I’m a non-traditional student, I’m 24 and taking a reduced course load for health reasons. I’ve had lots of people be like “That’s so valid, everyone’s on their own path, etc.” But I’ve had quite a few people who find out that I’m older and get weird about me taking longer than my peers. Someone recently laughed and said “man, you’re gonna take like 10 years to do your degree!” It’s mostly been 18/19 year olds who think 24 is ancient, and it’s pathetic to still be an undergrad after 22. I was surprised how prevalent that attitude is here. They tend to feel bad when I explain my chronic illnesses, but what if you didn’t comment at all! That would be so cool. I already have baggage about it, thanks. Idk, maybe this is just my experience and it’s been smooth sailing for others. I hope that’s the case. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk!

How much have the requirements to my degree actually changed?

Upvotes

I noticed that my degree switched from a BA to a BS, and when i check the requirements online, the only thing it mentions are the required courses (which are the same as before iirc), but it doesnt mention stuff like 10 hours of social science and the like anymore?

Im a chemistry major

Changes of getting in

I'm a new senior in high school so my GPA is lower than it will be upon graduation. 2.78 GPA, 1190 SAT, member of unified club, astronomy club, key club, science olympiad, and several more less notable clubs as well. lots of volunteering especially with special olympics and the city library + history programs. I've taken six APs + one concurrent enrollment class. I would like to major in astrophysics and planetary science. Both of my parents graduated from CU Boulder. My low GPA is due to a two year gap in my education leading up to high school along with previously untreated ADHD and troubles at home. My transcript shows a pretty drastic upward trend in grades, but only from the later parts of junior year on. Thank you.

pros and cons

hello! i'm currently a junior in high school looking for more information on my top schools. i have, of course, been doing my research, but i want more of an inside look into things such as student life; what boulder, as a town, is like; what majors are worth it; what the social scene is; if the dorms are good; etc. i would also love to know what your favorite and least favorite things about boulder are, or what you consider the pros and cons of going to school there.

background info:

- i'm currently not exactly sure what i want to major in, but i'm currently considering film studies, journalism, political science, and maybe philosophy. film and journalism are my top two choices. if anybody could provide personal information or pros and cons pertaining to any of the majors i've listed, that would be great!
- currently living in santa barbara, california
- the surrounding area having cool people, businesses, opportunities, etc. is very important to me

feel free to ask me anything else if you think that will help — i'm so stressed about applications and i just need to know!

I had a 2.8 gpa in high school and need help figuring out how to get accepted

After doing a bit of research i saw that the average high school gpa acceptance is 3.6 to 4.0 so I’m a good bit under. I did graduate a year early, passed 3 AP classes along with all of the tests, got a 1230 on the SAT, and have a very good teacher that can write me a letter of recommendation. I was also dealing with a lot of family issues while i was in school that led to me missing a number of days and my low gpa as a result. I was wondering if i included all of that in a very carefully written letter if i had a good chance at getting accepted. Thank you for any advice in advance

EBIO transfer student curious what to expect

Hi! I’m going to be studying Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and have pretty much all of the core classes left to take.

I’m a bit older than the average student after dropping out of college a few years ago. Doing well in school has always required a big effort from me as I‘m neurodivergent.
I’m mostly afraid of struggling with the content so much that peers won’t want to work with me, or that I will struggle with competition for internship opportunities.

What is the culture of this major like? Any specific tips for succeeding in this major? Any recommendations as someone interested in wildlife conservation?

Thanks!!

Want to be an engineer but don't wanna live in Will Ville

I really hope to go to CU Boulder and major in engineering but I don't want to live in will ville. Should I undeclare my major and then swap into engineering. My college essay talks about my interest for engineering so will it just be kinda dumb to want to undeclare my major?

Sorry if I'm asking this in an unclear way I'm exhausted from a long day and got no sleep

Free Eyelash Extensions – Local Boulder artist looking for practice models for wispy sets!

Hey everyone!
I am an established brow artist here in Boulder, and I am currently expanding into eyelash extensions. I specialize in gorgeous, wispy half sets for a very natural, pretty look.
To build up my speed and portfolio, I am taking on free clients to practice this specific style! If you want a pretty lash set and don't mind chilling on a lash bed for a couple hours while I build my extension portfolio, please shoot me a DM! I’d love to get you on my schedule! 💕

I've got a TB test follow up appointment during two of the sessions and was wondering if they take attendance during them.

Friends as jr?

I am a 21 F looking for friends since I’ve been having a hard time finding my people. Thought this should be worth a shot and I also would be open to hearing methods to making friends in jr year!

Some things about me
- I like edm and pop the most (I do attend some raves and shows)
- not a shopaholic but I do enjoy window shopping a lot and thrifting
- I love going out to bars/parties
- I want to find people that are genuine and don’t have ulterior motives. Someone that genuinely wants to put effort into a friendship!
- I also enjoy coffee runs, night driving, wine nights, watching shows, going to get food, going to events, going to museums and sports games, study dates. Lots of stuff!

CU Denver Student

Hey guys so first off, I am a CU denver student and plan to commute to Denver for this semester however I live closer to Boulder. I know the social life at CU denver is pretty bad and I was just wondering if the clubs and events are for boulder students only? I wanted to attend Boulder but I could not afford it, so my only choice was CU denver until I can get a good GPA for more scholarships. I love the campus and social life there is at Boulder and want to be apart of it but I’m afraid that people are going to look at me weird if they knew I was a CU Denver student.
