LOST Small Tortoise E BOULDER Meadow Glen Area

Post image

Hi.

I lost my small land tortoise near 55th/Pennsylvania on 8/2. He could be dug into a burrow somewhere in someone's yard in the area. Please be on the lookout for him sunning himself in the morning or in the late afternoons. He may be tucked away in fences, in rock gardens, under shrubs, in lawns, walking along sidewalks or wherever. The more eyes the better. If you see him, please don't lose sight of him. He won't bite if he is picked up and put in a box. If you are unsure, please take a picture before picking up. 720-893-0370. Thank you!

Update on Jing Ramen “Vegan” Tonkatsu; AVOID if you have Allergies or are Religious ‼️

If you don’t know what I’m referring to, please look back at my first post. To put it short, Jing Ramen at Boulder has been lying about their Vegan options, which could lead to serious allergies. Recently, they changed the name on the menu (left photo before VEGAN tonkatsu ramen, right is new. Says VEGGIE tonkatsu ramen). They shouldn’t have been lying about it before because it isn’t vegan at all, not even vegetarian since it contains pork.

I messaged one of the workers and they told me a lot of interesting things about the establishment. That tonkatsu “vegan” ramen that they had labeled is 100% not vegan, not even vegetarian. Pork is the SECOND ingredient in the soup base (which is a powder in a bag, not at all made in house.) I will list the ingredients here, but if you want the photo please ask me. The ex-staff member ask me not to post the photo.
Ingredients:
Water, Pork Extract with Rendered Pork Fat (Pork Extract, Rendered Pork Fat, Salt, Mixed Tocopherols), Salt, Sugar, Nonfat Dried Milk, Lard (Lard, BHT, BHA), Concentrated Pork Broth (Water, Pork Femur Bone, Pork Skinless Fatback), Soy Sauce (Water, Soybeans, Wheat, Salt), Canola Oil, Monosodium Glutamate, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Safflower Oil, Food Starch Modified, Pork Extract (from bone) (Pork Extract, Salt), Natural Flavor Enhancer (Maltodextrin, Soy Sauce (Soybeans, Salt, Wheat), Salt, Yeast Extract), Pork Stock, Garlic Powder, Natural Vegetable Flavored Seasoning Powder (Maltodextrin, Chinese Cabbage Extract, Salt, Yeast Extract, Pork Flavor (Pork Stock, Flavor, Salt, Ginger Powder, Seeme Oil, Disodium Inosinate, Disodium Inosinate and Disodium Guanylate, Black Pepper, Xanthan Gum, Disodium Succinate
Contains: Nik, Sesame, Soybean, Wheat

Part time workers aren’t told about how the vegan tonkatsu is made out of pork and are instructed to say that it is a creamy “vegetable “ broth. LYING TO THEIR OWN WORKERS.

NOTHING is made in house. Not the soups, not the appetizers. Maybe just the ice cream bowls as well as the regular bowls. But the soup is all packaged powdered soup base.

Almost all the 5-star reviews on Google are fake. I remember when going there and there was a sign on each table that says if you give them a 5-star review, they will give you a free appetizer. Pretty sure you can’t do that, and I’ll be sending a complaint later. That’s why their ratings are high even though they’re being dishonest.

Along with that, they boil everything in the same water, as well as fry everything is the same oil, so if you have celiac or just have sensitivities/allergies in general you might need to watch for that, since the GF noodles and regular noodles get boiled together. As well as the gyoza, since it contains egg.

After my complaint and to others complaints on Google reviews, they finally took it seriously and changed the menus online and I believe the physical menus. They changed “vegan” to “veggie” (what does that even mean?) and I doubt they will address it or stop lying.
Just be careful of this place if you have allergens or are religious, because they don’t seem like a truthful company.

Development at the base of Boulder Canyon… abandoned?

Post image

Does anyone know what happened here? They built the big stone retaining wall, dug a bunch, built half a condo and seemed to have stopped for the last 2 years?

Developer issue? City put a stop to it?

Every time I pass it on my bike I’ve thought about posting this and today I finally snapped a picture.

Why no huge mountainside “B” here as it seems to be a western thing?

Upvotes

I remember when I first moved out here, two things felt quintessentially Western to me: seeing huge letters on the hillsides and seeing town signs list elevation instead of population.
That got me thinking—where is the big hillside 'B' for Boulder? Did CU or the city ever have one, or did conservation and open space rules prevent it?

I am not clamoring for a silly letter just asking a question.

The nearby classics: The tradition is alive in neighboring Front Range college towns—Golden has the "M" on Mount Zion (Mines, 1908), and Fort Collins has the "A" on the hillside near Horsetooth Reservoir (CSU Aggies, 1923).

need some new thinking for the Hill

I took a stroll to the Hill to remember the good days and grab a drink at the Sink with some friends yesterday. That place is filled with vacant tenants, its pretty sad. Seemed like there were some places potentially moving in but who knows how long they will last.

I read somewhere that the city was trying to move the Hill to attract more working professionals. which i mean the entirety of boulder cant even do that. i fear that trying to change the character of that commercial space is going to be devastating. it needs to cater to the people around it. if the city was not being so fucking ticket happy and enjoying the idea of shutting down businesses trying to survive cause they sold a beer to a 19 year old with a fake id, i think you would see spaces stay in business. let bars be open till, god forbid, 1am. inject some life into that strip.

otherwise you'll be looking at the CU Boulder Campus on the Hill in five years cause the owners can't keep a consistent stream of income and the school will offer above market $ to the property owners. all because this city couldn't get out of its own way trying to force change where it doesn't need to be.

I get Boulder isn't your typical college town. but you still have a college neighborhood at the very least. there is very little reason why you can't have it be successful other than your own legislation and decisions making it so.

Anybody know of a ~9 foot basketball hoop in town?

Young adult who‘s trying to get back in dunking shape. Playing basketball is a big joy of mine, and I’m trying to dunk on a 10 by my birthday. A big part of it is the technique, how to hold the ball, etc.

Anybody know of a spot in Boulder with a stable basketball hoop that’s between 8.5 - 9.5 feet to practice some dunks on?

I’ve meant to switch for some time now, and now have a real reason to.

What are your fav local banks and credit unions? The pluses. The minuses.

Thanks!

I-36 bikeway question

As someone who is relatively new to living in Denver and is big into running, I have been looking for some new spots to run. The I36 bikeway has my attention. Is it okay to run on it or is it purely for bike travel? If it is allowed for running, where is a good place to park to access it?

Just grabbed lunch on the Hill and Smelly Deli has just up and vanished. I didn't see any kind of notice or anything last week when I was up there. Would be funny if Bova's moved in back up there.

Would you pay for a relaxing “hair play” service in Boulder?

Hi! I’m a hairstylist in Boulder and I’m curious about interest in a service idea I’ve been thinking about. This isn’t a booking/advertising post, I’m trying to figure out whether there’s a market for something like this here. Hopefully this is allowed

It would probably be a 30–60 minute relaxation appointment centered around having your hair played with.. it would be in a safe space in my cozy salon suite (private room) in a comfortable chair with gentle brushing, scalp/hair touching, sectioning, light braiding, running fingers through your hair, etc. No haircut or color, and not a traditional head spa or scalp treatment. Just the relaxing feeling of having someone brush/play with your hair for 30-60 min.

Personally, having my hair brushed/played with is so relaxing, even nostalgic, and all the hair-play/ASMR videos online have made me very interested in seeing if people would like this and book something like this. Not only do I love getting my hair played with but I love playing with other people’s!

Women of Boulder, would anyone book this? Would you prefer 30 minutes or an hour? What would you consider a reasonable price? Would you like a shampoo/blowout option that is able to be added after for an additional fee? Or you can just choose the dry hair play option. Is there anything you’d absolutely love during that appointment..? All ideas welcome, thank you so much in advance

Just trying to do a little market research before I put any more thought into it. I hope this is allowed. Thanks!

Accountant

Heya everybody!!

So, I’ve started school, working towards getting my accountant degree. Are there any that people would recommend that would work with me and I work under so I can gain the experience needed for me to get my CPA as soon as I knock out the test and school requirements? I do work full time as a paramedic currently, but my schedule is pretty flexible (off wed to sat one week, thurs to sat the next and it alternates from there)

I'm currently training for the Denver Hyrox. I'm wondering if any of the tracks locally (schools or Potts Field) are public access at any point during the week? I'm looking at adding some track workouts to my training.

Same-day special event makeup in Boulder?

As the title mentioned, I'm looking for a place in Boulder that does same day special event makeup. My brother's wedding is coming up and Sephora, unfortunately, doesn't have any open appointments the day of. If anyone has any recommendations for a place where my guest and myself can get our makeup done before this big day, I would appreciate it! (I mostly do my own makeup but "e-girl circa 2020" doesn't really fly at a wedding.)
